The dormant 2008 presidential apparatus of John McCain this year transferred nearly $9 million in old donations to an educational charity run by three major political supporters that bears the Arizona senators name, filings showed Tuesday.
The big-money move stands in contrast to President George W. Bush, who found himself in a nearly identical financial position but gave the millions instead to the Republican National Committee. Party committees are a typical destination for excess political cash, and the money would have dramatically bolstered the RNCs position as the chief financial resource of the partys presumptive nominee, Mitt Romney.

At least he wasn’t like the typical Democrat, who keeps it to him/her/itself.
*snicker*
Even McCain must be getting sick of the RNCino crowd, and he’s one of them!
.
What a disgrace!
How helpful.
NOT!
Mc was the most anti-Republican Republican they could find to run last time ‘round. He’s still at it, as we see.
This time’round we have another anti-Republican RINO, and I definitely expect the same result for 2012.
Wonder what he’ll do with HIS “excress cash”?
what an a@@ wipe
This is unethical. The money was donated with a specific intent (the furtherance of a political cause) on the part of the donor. McCain, as the recipient and steward of these donations is duty bound to either return the excess funds to the donors, or to honor the intent of their donation by directing the funds for similar use.
from the article the money will go to his charity ...a nonprofit education and research center focused on world affairs
He is a globalist. Cosponsored NDAA, cheerleader for Libyan war and bypassing congress. A threat to US Sovereignty
Yet he fought with passion to hang on to his Senate seat. He even made a commercial walking the border, claiming border security would be his top priority.....silent on fast and furious, murder of agent.
he money would have dramatically bolstered the RNCs position as the chief financial resource of the partys presumptive nominee, Mitt Romney.
McLame’s action is aimed at shooting down Mitt,s chances.
John needs to go back to Hanoi and stay there. And I’m no Romney fan.
A nonprofit glorification and exaltation of all things McCain Group.
In fact, our local campaign office never got any campaign signs and materials from the campaign, and actually had to pay suppliers our own money to buy them for distribution. And now we find out he had millions just sitting there doing nothing.
It is ludicrous that McCain has ‘excess’ campaign funds.
In his early 2008 run, his campaign was broke.
Going into the general election, he cried that he didn’t have funds to compete effectively against Obama.
Some how, when he reran for his Senate seat, he magically had $20 million in excess that he could take from his old presidential run.
Now, he has another $9 million that he can donate to charities — IN HIS OWN NAME?
We definitely need Campaign Finance Reform, but not the kind McCain hoisted on us.
This whole thing smacks of corruption at the highest levels.
He’s in Strom Thurman mode. Getting more looney by day. He is a disgrace to the nation.
Even the Rinos can’t stand the Rinos.
true that
LOL!
