Rosen: 'I Apologize to Ann Romney'
Big Government ^ | 04-12-12 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 04/12/2012 11:00:21 AM PDT by Lazlo in PA

Amid a massive backlash from the American public and a stampeding retreat from her supporters, Democratic National Committee advisor Hilary Rosen backtracked from her words about Ann Romney last night on CNN, stating a few moments ago, “As a pundit, I know my words on CNN last night were poorly chosen … I apologize to Ann Romney.” The report of that statement comes from Jim Acosta at CNN.

The question is whether the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee will apologize to Romney, and whether they will fire Rosen over this incident. Rosen has long been associated with the Obama team and the DNC, and her apology means virtually nothing given the fact that she has defended her comments at length over the past 24 hours. Only pressure from inside the Obama campaign and DNC forced this apology. Even then, she apologized to Romney for her wording, not for the point she was making.

I understand both sides of what you folks are saying. But the fact that the Romney kids apparently turned out so successfully indicates that Ann Romney did her job as a devoted Mom in an outstanding manner.

We should look at the outcomes of those moms who did “both” (work outside the home and try and perform mom duties), and compare the success of kids raised in that hectic, trying environment.

I bet the multi-tasking path, comparatively speaking, fails. In short, Ann made the superior choice (concentrated and specialized at successful parenting) rather than trying to split time and attention and in the end doing a mediocre job at both.

Not intending to bash single moms who were widowed, for example. They have to do the best they can.

But single moms who had picked bad husbands, and then split from them - that to is all PART of responsible choices/decision making. People who marry in haste, aren’t careful and selective - that’s on them...

You cannot ‘poorly choose’ words that reflect what you deeply feel in your heart. It is impossible.

Oops. Scratch Mouton, add Rosen.

Agreed...apology is at best, insincere as it is clearly being forced by 0bama. The parallel I was trying to make was that both Rosen and Rush had something stupid come out of their mouths recently and both have issued apologies. Using the treatment Rush was given post-apology as an example, how should Rosen now be treated?... No big deal.

Absolutely. I agree 100%.

But I'm afraid that some folks can't separate Ann from Mitt's politics. These are different issues, and if we don't have the mental capability of separating them, we're in big trouble.

This whole mess is BAD for Obama. It's still in the news. It's being tweeted and discussed by women (and men) all over the country, and leftists are twisting themselves into pretzels to try to distance themselves from a statement that they actually believe.......but it won't work, because there's not a leftist out there who respects women enough to allow us the choice to stay home and raise our kids with our values, teach them to read, be there for them, and nurture them as only a parent can.

This is a good discussiong to have, and it helps us enormously because the vast majority of Americans agree with us, and not with the vile, spiteful Ms Rosen. Going after Ann Romney, and secondarily all women who "never worked a day in their lives" is backfiring BIG time.

Rosen wasn't right about anything.

btw, I completely agree with your assessment of the responsibility of choosing the wrong husband. There's such pressure in some circles to be married that many young women make very bad choices, and unfortunately have to deal with the consequences of those choices.

(And that's part of what a Mom can teach her daughters IF she spends enough time with them).

Many on here including owner, Jim Robinson, hate Romney and would vote 3rd party or not at all to avoid voting for him. Romney was not my first choice either, but like you, I’ll definitely vote for Romney over Obama.

All people are taking this way too far, just as they did the Zimmerman issue and every other “issue” the media baits the public with.

People are going to view Anne Romney from their own station in life......and frankly what ever women decide to do it's no business but theirs and those of their family.. Stay at home or work otherwise...it really isn't an issue it's being made out to be.

There's nothing about Anne Romney that isn't pretty much typical to women of her stature and position...She's married to an Elitist and that's just what it is...who cares if she has hired help or not....or sits in front of her TV eating Bon Bons....her business.

It's very annoying when people thing that monetary means doesn't make any difference to where's Anne at. Of course it does or the whole world wouldn't be chasing the dollar.
Romney wouldn't be buying the presidency with his millions if he didn't have it...and he sure as heck wouldn't be winning without those revenues.

So trying to paint pictures of Anne Romney as something other than what she is to score political points is fruitless by either dem's or rep's....especially when we consider the First Lady that's in the Whitehouse now. She set the bar so low any woman can reach it.

You might do the owner the courtesy of pinging him instead of talking behind his back ya know.

But I can assure you that those who are NOT voting for Liberal Romney are not "avoiding" voting for him. They recognize he's as much danger to our country as Obama is.....and they know his record as well as see behind the mask he wears.

The real real issue is why would Conservatives even consider Romney/Obama when there is another candidate to vote for who has done outstanding in getting Conservative issues thru Congress and made them happen, and that would be Newt.......unless of course those doing were never serious about conservative issues in the first place.

How can you vote for someone who's hand are still bloody from signing his abortion bill? Who tells gays he's their friend and supporter? Who will simply change the name of Obamacare to Romneycare? Who will usher this nation under the UN and Global World Entities?

Explain how you can stand for conservatisim by voting for Romney..and worse why would you cower to the media and Obama push that you have to?

Character, good or bad, is not dependent on one's finances. There are wealthy people of great character, and poor people who are reprobates.

Ann Romney's current wealth should not affect anyone's opinion of her, unless jealousy is a factor.......something the left is counting on.

I believe you continue to miss the point entirely, caww.

Rosen is a leftist who revealed the leftist disdain for women. The reason her comments are still in the news is because she insulted millions of women.

It doesn't matter what you think of Ann Romney, or how much you don't like her wealth and think that changes how she raised her kids 30 years ago. She was unfairly attacked by a leftist creep who said exactly what she meant, and spoke for the Obama administration in doing so.

They said the same thing about Laura Bush, and it was offensive then, as it is now. They said the same thing about Barbara Bush, who was denied the right to speak at Smith College because she had never 'worked.'

Did you agree with the people who attacked Laura? And if not, why not?

This is not about money. It's about an anti-family, anti-Christian, anti-woman leftist ideology that was voiced loud and clear by Hillary Rosen.

And that is why we ALL should be offended by her despicable comments. There is nothing to agree with in what she said. Nothing.

Understood.

I can’t bring myself to ‘hate’ Mittens, I just don’t think he represents my view of governments role as well as say, Newt.

To be honest, I’m not going to bothering to truly hate Zero either. That said, in all his self-rightous B.S. he is doing significant damage to a country I love and I do hate that.

In my gut, I can almost feel the horrible storm that is only begining to rage in this country and I fear that old expression is going to be RE proven:

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.”

Mind your own business. I was responding to a particular individual. Did I misrespresent JimRob? NO! When I want to engage JimRob directly about his views on Romney I do so. See

How can you vote for someone who's hand are still bloody from signing his abortion bill? I voted for Reagan twice and as governor of California he signed the most permissive abortion law in the country at the time. He repented of that as has Romney.

Who tells gays he's their friend and supporter? Show me the quote.

Who will simply change the name of Obamacare to Romneycare? That's not was he has said and I'll hold him to his word.

Who will usher this nation under the UN and Global World Entities? Doubtful. Quit reading conspiracy websites.

Doesn't matter if Rosen is left or right....there was some truth is what she stated so we'll have to just disagree about that. Maybe it's how she framed her statements...but bottom line is Anne cannot possibly ‘identify’ with woman who have to work outside the home and be a homemaker , and raise their kids.

As far as the left making comments against a candidates wife....well, if any Candidate is going to his wife speak out on his behalf, as Anne has now begun to do, then I'm sorry she and Romney knew this would come and I suspect ready for it as well....as for being “fair”...it simply isn't going to happen and people have got to stop expecting fairness from Obama and the press...it isn't going to happen....if they don't have a story they are certainly going to create one.

BTW...it's going to get a lot nastier....Like Palin..Anne is going to have to learn to deal with it if she'd going to speaking out.

Agreed. I admire Ann Romney. I graduated law school with a two year old and had two more so have always balanced children with a career and not the faux kind like Ms. O had. I don’t believe in trying to change the past but did come to greatly admire stay at home moms and treasure the times I was able to be in that role. “Filthy” rich? Really? I have never heard that Romney’s income came from any sort of dirty business like porn movies.

And I’ve heard that Ann did not turn her boys over to nannies but that she and Mitt raised them very hands on. I suggest that you watch some youtube videos of the family.

I, like most freepers, have issues with a lot of Romney’s positions but I’m really sick and tired of people attacking him and his family for their life style and religion. Talk about distractions.

You didn't address the issues I raised. And you didn't say if you thought the same attacks on Laura and Barbara Bush had 'some truth' in them, and were therefore, not a problem.

I presume you won't be doing so in future posts, so thanks for the conversation, caww.

I thought I answered your post exactly to the issue discussed....what I said about Romneys knowing what they were getting into by running would certainly apply to any candidate and that would include Bushes wife Laura....who handled the press very well...Anne has to learn how to do so as well as all do.

Fair? I also addressed that.

I was a stay at home mom of one. She owes me no apology. I do not understand the kerfuffle. There are so many more important things to be upset about. This is nothing compared to our party wanting to make contraceptives next to impossible to get. Now that is something to be upset about. A bunch of old men having any say at all about birth control. None of their business. And that is how Republican and Democratic women feel about it as well as men.
