Commentary: Glenn Beck's Oval Office {Beck going all in for Mitt?]
Star-Telegram ^ | April 12, 2012 | Bud Kennedy

Glenn Beck has been in Texas only a few months, and he's already talking big.

Now, he wants to address America from his own Oval Office.

Lest anyone fear that something has suddenly gone drastically wrong in our country, Beck's Oval Office is a movie set in Irving.

-SNIP-

Saying he will "deliver the speeches the president should have delivered," Beck promised to "activate the sleeping giant" of Christian conservatives in America with speeches from his new set on the Studios' Stage A.

Mainly, of course, Beck's goal is to motivate subscribers to pay $9.95 a month for his show, broadcast daily to about 300,000 viewers via computer, iPad, iPhone or other household appliance.

-SNIP-

Beck said he hopes to hire 1,000 workers in Irving for an entrepreneurial project.

It's named American Dream Labs.

He's right about the dream part

If you have a source for your contention I'd like to see it.

Common sense has no source.

Obviously Glenn Beck is not going to admit that he's a closeted Romney supporter who must hide it so that he does not lose his listeners (many of them Christian conservatives) who may think he's for Romney only because they share the same religion.

He's just not going to let that out of the bag anymore than Rush would let it be known who exactly he supports in the primary. Only difference is, Rush Limbaugh is honest with his listeners. Rush told them he's not going to say who he is for.

I for one, have always supported Santorum and am disappointed he dropped out, even though it was a long shot for him to win. And I have NEVER faked support for someone. That’s just stupid....and hypocritical. Why even open your mouth...why lie? That just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Like I said, I’m on the fence about who to support now. Personally, considering who is left, I’d rather see Newt win than Romney OR Obama...but I’m not sure that’s even possible. It saddens me that Romney has been pushed as the front runner and the GOP establishment is getting their way.

But I know voting for the lesser of 2 evils, is still voting for evil. And I also know, voting for 3rd party or write in, would more than likely, give the election to Obama.

Beck was on O’Reilly’s show weeks ago, and said it was time to unite behind Romney——while still claiming to support Santorum.

I could have sworn he was a Bachmann supporter before she dropped out.

He was a Bachmann "supporter" before she dropped out. Bachmann had less of a chance to win the nomination than Santorum. He certainly could not continue to support Bachmann after she dropped out. That would have made for some boring airtime.

You will notice that he never supported anyone that was a major threat to Mitt Romney.

I assume he's still underground for Romney. Mark my words. He will not come out in support of Newt (unless it's obvious there NO WAY Newt can beat Romney)

Wrong.
Beck is a support of Romney, statistics says its so 98% of lds support Romney, I do not for a minute beleive Beck is a 2%er.
His anti support is a ruse, based on everything from his show and his statements.
Believe it or not it still true.

I for one, have always supported Santorum and am disappointed he dropped out, even though it was a long shot for him to win. And I have NEVER faked support for someone.

And I repeat, Santorum had and still has legit supporters. I also liked Rick Santorum. He was not my favorite because I did not think he would be able to beat Obama. Unlike Mitt Romney, I could have easily voted for Santorum in the general.

Think about it and it makes sense. If you're afraid you'll get banned for posting pro-Romney comments and articles and you're addicted to FR, what do you do? Become a fake supporter of another candidate which you think has no chance of winning and just wait it out until the primary's over.

There are many good people like you who were real supporters of Santorum. That's not who I'm talking about. I'm talking about the Romneybots who hide behind another candidate to avoid getting zotted.

Well, if you are THAT taken in by what a talking head tells you to do or who to vote for, than you might as well call yourself a sheep.

As for me, I think I will THINK and DECIDE for myself.

I have nothing against him making money or creating jobs. I don’t think it’s about America, I think it’s about Beck and his ego. I think it became about Beck long ago and I believe that’s why he started promoting his DC event and chose a date before and competitive to the Tea Parties second March on DC.

I also believe he’s been for Romney all along and his support for Santorum was designed to help destroy Newt.

Has anyone else noticed the mormon code word used by BOTH Glenn and Mitt? "Restore" this, Restore" that...a key part of the "meat" of the mormon belief is that God removed His "true gospel" from the earth and it was "restored" by Joseph Smith as the mormon church.

Now, it seems, Glenn has "restored" the Oval Office all by his ownself to be a stage for his proclamations. Anyone who really believes he was truly supporting Santorum was drinking the Koolaid.

Glenn has his eye of taking part in the control of the US. He and Mitt have the same goal.

I do think your heads are going to explode when Palin, Rush, Levin, Savage, Bachmann, Perry, Santorum, Newt, and anyone else you attach your conservatism too, come out and support our nominee.

Yes, he is trying to get people behind Romney, because he knows unless we UNITE behind a candidate, Obama gets a second term, for sure.

While I disagree with him that Romney can even beat Obama, let alone that he’s better than Newt would be, I agree that we should find someone to UNITE behind.

And I STILL do not see this Romneybot crap everyone is claiming Beck is. Sorry, but I don’t see it. I listen to his show EVERY DAY and I’ve heard him talk equally about each of the candidates. And he’s thrown his support behind the ones he think would best turn this country around.

First it was Bachman, until she dropped out.

Then it was Santorum, until he dropped out.

For some reason, he despises Newt...which I don’t get...

But now, since he seems to be the ONLY choice, he’s behind Romney. And from what I’ve heard him, Stu and Pat talk about, it’s RELUCTANTLY. They ALL have been VERY vocal in what is WRONG with Romney.

A Romney bot would not be so vocal and forth right, about the shortcomings and failures of “their guy”, IMO.

Personally, I think there are anti-Romneybots who will find ANY excuse to rail on anyone who says anything positive about Romney. It’s stupid and childish, IMO.

You keep your mouth shut. Why pretend to like someone you don’t? What does that accomplish?

It STILL doesn’t make sense....

Great summary of the situation!

Santorum supporters were and are legit. But not all who claim to be anti-Newt Santorum supporters are really for Santorum.
Especially now, the Romneybots are easy to sniff out. I’ve got several of them pegged already. I’m not the zotting type. They’ll get caught sooner or later because now it’s so obvious.

I agree 100%. There are a bunch of the fakers being flushed out as we speak.

Before the “Restoring Honor” event in DC he made a comment about standing where Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. had stood at the Lincoln Memorial. The comment was something like, “Who the hell am I, Glenn Beck, to stand where King stood?”

He meant that he didn’t deserve to stand where King did, that it was too audacious.

Now, he has a mock up of the Oval Office at his studio.

But, before that he wrote the book, ‘Being George Washington’. He even wears a purple heart pin... it’s not the medal, but it’s still the pin.

He’s wrapping himself in Americana, in the presidency specifically, for some reason. I don’t think it is just because he has a big ego. I think it’s because he is trying to telegraph something with the symbolism.

Like saying, “The Oval Office is OURS now.”

It’s as if he is saying, Romney will be sitting where Smith was meant to sit.

I’m not into mystic messages, but I think he is a person that does believe in messages and symbolism.

Its mildly entertaining when some share their assumptions as fact. If you have a source for your contention I'd like to see it.

As usual, your mormon defensive "assumptions" are OK, right?

II is one of the earliest of the "I'm not a mormon but.." FR defenders of all things mormon.

II, how's about YOU provide proof that tsowell fan is in error. It would be quite entertaining.
