In El Paso, Texas, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Ricardo Montalvo has been arrested and charged with attempting to smuggle guns and ammunition into Mexico. More specifically, hes been accused of trying to smuggle the weapons to the Mexican cartel. His girlfriend, Carla Gonzales-Ortiz, has been charged in the matter as well.
Montalvo and Gonzales-Ortiz are also accused of making a number of straw purchases of weapons between November 2010 and January 2011. Included in these were five Ak-47s, two .380 pistols, and a couple of .22 rifles. In other words, Montalvo and Gonzales-Ortiz made purchases similar to those which our DOJ and ATF allowed straw purchasers to make during Fast and Furious, only not on as a grand a scale.

Can't have people taking guns across the border without the express permission of the US government.

Didn't get the memo to cease activity. Snail mail's slow on the border.
Should be an interesting defense, tho. Hey, the ATF directors were doing it so naturally I thought it was just part of my job!

There's such a need for Border Patrol Agents and Customs and Border Protection officers who speak spanish on the southern border, that so long as you can cover up your MS 13 tattoo, you'll pass muster.

Border agents should know better: Leave gun smuggling to the experts at ATF/DOJ!

Although Breitbart is a credible source, I notice that even here there is no mention of where the guns are now or their route of travel.
If they never left the US and were not in the possession of Mexican Nationals inside the US, I would classify this as completely bogus misdirection on the part of a criminal justice dept.

ATF has the monopoly on gun running.
FBI - setting up offshore banking.
DEA - free passes for drug smuggling.
State Dept. - grenades, rocket launchers, anti-aircraft guns, ballistic vests and night-vision goggles.
BP - wander around in the dark on the border (physically and metaphorically) and deal with the chaos.

Wow, there's never *been* a more flagrant case of racial profiling. /s
Sounds funny now, wait 'til Holder announces it.
