Party planks don’t mean squat. In 08 they included a firm border control stance which John McCain quickly abandoned.

The planks mean a lot to me. I can’t expect every Republican candidate to endorse every plank. I probably wouldn’t. But a Party must have an identity, and I want to know what it is.

And if it becomes too worthless, I quit the party.
