The dead man could be charged and convicted for attacking “the frail elderly” had he lived. Preponderance of force issue also is significant in that the attacker was much younger and stronger.
All in all, a good shoot, and a disgrace that the case even made it into court.
My guess is a hoplophobic prosecutor is acting out its agenda.
Not that it would matter, since local news reports are only slightly more reliable than national news reports.
I do remember reading that at some point in the altercation, the dead man and his killer struggled over a weapon.
I was not there, I don't know anyone involved, nor do I have any additional facts to contribute.
I do find it very odd that this particular homicide/tragedy didn't make the national news...since apparently nobody cares about homicides unless the dead person looks like they could be President Obama’s son, and the killer looks like somebody elses son.
Don’t mess with us old white men. We won’t fight back, we’ll just shoot you.
In this particular case,a middle aged man stepped in to try to stop the dangerous old vigilante wannabe from his self declared position as the neighborhood watch leader, from threatening children.
But it's OK for this old man to initiate and escalate the confrontation, and then try to claim protection under legal “stand your ground” protection when it escalated to lethal force...because...wait for it...he was both old and black!
Amen brother.
