Atty: Zimmerman bail hearing to be held next week

Trayvon Martin's supporters fought for weeks to win an arrest after the 17-year-old was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida. Now George Zimmerman's attorney has begun what could be a lengthy legal battle to free his client from the second-degree murder charge filed in the case.

The first step for Zimmerman attorney Mark O'Mara will be to try to get his client out of jail while the legal process continues. A hearing for the 28-year-old probably will be held on April 20 to determine if he will be allowed to post bail and leave jail, O'Mara said late Thursday.

Just watched a biased CNN story on yesterday's developments. Plenty of time given to mom's "clarification"....BUT no reference to her EARLIER admission that she considered the whole thing an accident.

Zimmerman is being railroaded -the Justice dept has stuck their nose in this (for race and political points) and the special prosecutor was very bias. Awful unfair situation for Zimmerman. This could be any One of us.

I said earlier that the illegal/immoral practice of carrying a "drop gun" by CCW licensees may, unfortunately, come back into fashion to prevent this type of lynching.

Ask yourself this: if you had to shoot to defend your life, and you know it was legally necessary and justified, wouldn't you take extra precautions to prevent the deliberate injustices and threats against your life, freedom, liberty, and happiness as the mob has done to Zimmermans family?

You think Zimmerman wanted to shoot him?? That would be totally nuts. Zimmerman wasn’t a fly by nighter and this wasn’t a drive-by shooting....and if was was stalking Tray and confronted him, he would likely have been feet away when he shot....and GZ would not have ANY head wounds.

Nor would he have called LEO who could have arrived at any time to witness the incident.

Makes as much sense as him saying racial slurs when he couldn’t see the dispatcher color of skin.
One might use an off color comment to a friend face to face, but not over the phone to a stranger.

For George Zimmerman? They don't need no stinking bail. All they need is to get the trial under way on Monday and hang him on Tuesday.
Only then will the “inner cities” settle down.

Perhaps. I think the Dems would rather have the bloody shirt than the conviction at this point. Actually sending him to prison will cause problems with Hispanics, whether LaRaza is on board or not.

The problem with requesting a different judge comes if the request is denied.

Then you are stuck with a pi$$ed off stupid judge.
