What Republicans and Democrats alike don't understand is that the "mommy wars" are largely a thing of the past
A fierce Twitter firestorm erupted this week after Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen pointedly questioned Ann Romneys fitness to serve as her husbands ambassador on womens economic issues. Noting to CNNs Anderson Cooper that Romney a daughter of privilege who became wealthier still while married to Mitt had never worked a day in her life, Rosen voiced the suggestion that she was, perhaps, less than ideally suited for relaying the financial worries and stresses of most American women to her husbands presidential campaign. Shes never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing, in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and why do we worry about their future, Rosen said.
Republicans counterattacked, as to be expected. Romney campaign strategist Eric Fehrnstrom denounced a kill Ann strategy that in the process insults hardworking moms. But what was surprising was that Democrats also engaged in Rosen-bashing:
Democratic strategist David Axelrod called Rosens words inappropriate and offensive.
Obama campaign manager Jim Messina tweeted: She should apologize.
Deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter added on: Families must be off-limits on campaigns, she said, and I personally believe stay-at-home moms work harder than most of us do.

A “Sistah Soljah” moment then?
It was intentional other than than words ‘never worked a day in her liefe’, which will be used to browbeat the democrats for the next six months. The rest was right off the script.
A mother of five, who beat cancer and battled MS is going to be hard to demonize. She is a lot more like a typical suburban voter than the scowling Michelle who does not connect at all with suburban women.
ping
I much prefer Calista, tart looking painted lady that she is!
Whenever I am in a waiting room and see slime magazine, I manage to put in the TRASH in the men’s room, where it belongs.
Put it in the trash. oops...
I firmly believe this was a set-up.
Someone as high up and connected to the WH does not wildly go off message without clearance.
All of this Hilary Rosen bashing by Obama, Biden, Axelrod, etc. was already planned and is being doen with a wink, wink, nod, nod.
It gives Zero and the Dems the opportunity to appear like knights in shing armor while at the same time using their criticism as a platform to launch into an attack on the
GOP war against women.
It’s another Charlie Brown and Lucy holding the football moment that the GOP never, ever sees coming.
They are laughing their @sses off in the WH over this.
So predictable.
....
Same trajectory.
Bull crap! I really don't care what the public "believes", because most of the time they're wrong. Indeed, Obozo wouldn't be President if they believed the truth. Like they say, I'd agree with the BS presented in this article, but then we'd both be wrong.
I am “out of touch” with Ann Romney. I know almost nothing about her and don’t want to.
Making her the victim of any attack, just makes people step up to defend her, which leads to sympathy and possibly support of the Romney candidacy.
It’s engineered to help Romney.
Let’s not fall for it.
Media are trying to throw Rosen a lifeline.
Administration have already thrown Rosen under the bus.
[F&F showed a timeline of this ‘crisis’. Within 20 minutes of Rosen’s original comment, Twitter was all a tweet. Within a hour, even the WH was distancing themselves from this disaster.]
Doubt it. When Carney tried to deflect by saying he personally knows three women named Hilary-with-one-L Rosen, and she (single L Hilary) has visited the White House 35 times, they are in full damage control mode.
One thing thing for sure, Ann Romeny is not a blatant black racist with the personality of a rabid cat.
> Hilary Rosen Was Right: Ann Romney Is Out of Touch with Most Women
Yes, and we know that lesbian CommiecRAT Hilary Rosen, $350K per year political earmark Mooshelle, and Judith Warner, the author of this trashy hit piece, are “in touch” with “most women”.
Right.
True Ann is not like most other women she has raised 5 kids while learning she has MS and still is not playing the victim card.
“Time” is quickly stepping in to cushion a potential blow for Democrats? I’m shocked.../s
Couldn’t disagree more. Rosen’s guilty because she can’t help it. It’s knee-jerk feminism, and that just doesn’t get bridled & hung up until the campaign’s over. Hillary couldn’t help her “stay home and make cookies” comment either. The snark just oozes out of every pore.
His wife has actually never worked a day in her life, said Hilary Rosen, DNC Advisor
Anyone who is married, children and a brain understands how offensive those words are to their dear wife.
Did anyone notice the apology was ONLY to Ann Romney? Many many women across the land was highly offended, The fact that the libtard that wrote the above article only proves that stupid is as stupid says and does!
I tend to disagree. I this whole crew is given credit for far more intelligence than they actually possess.
If you are in doubt, what has this administration done that has actually worked or was beneficial to the country as a whole?
In case you haven’t noticed, the primary is essentially over. Are you going to support the Republican nominee or not?
So how many kids has Judith Warner here raised?
So Romney said he listens to his wife about women's views on economy.
That doesn't necessarily mean Ann Romney. He might have meant one of the other ones.
I think she's on some.
Notice how fast Anne Romney fought back? Can you imagine Laura Bush fighting back or Mrs. McCain wherever she was, fighting back like that? The Romneys will take it to the Obama people. They won’t sit back like George Bush did and get pummeled without a response.
Those type of comments are engineered to move the conversation where they want to move it.
Every day we focus on Ann Romney is another day we are not focusing on Obama and his failures.
DO you really think Hilary Rosen is not going to land on her feet. The lefties know how to take care of their own, using our money.
Snarky, yes! True to form, yes!
Off the cuff, never.
Not clear. She has twins, but she's separated from her wife. Don't know who has custody.
I think this article is an angry Judith Warner standing by her fellow womyn Hilary who was thrown under the bus by the admin.
Congratulations, the boy spokesman has just quoted a possibility that's greater than hitting the mega-millions.
Pretty obvious. The idea is now in people’s minds. While the Campaign can pretend it did not do it.
The Republicans are entirely inept: no match for the Chicago Thugs. You run Ken and Barbie, with a weird religion and tons of money ? You have to be insane.
New Rules: As children of privilege, any member of the Kennedy clan is now "out of touch" with their respective gender, and any gender-related statement or public policy by same member(s) should be publicly ridiculed and then disregarded as nonsense.
Same goes for Chelsea Clinton, Alexandra Pelosi, the Obama daughters, and [insert name of wealthy Liberal family here].
I agree. There are a lot fathers and mothers working who would rather be stay at home moms. Obama doesn’t have the working mom vote locked up and he’s heading in the wrong direction for it.
Yeah, I like it that Ann Romney fought back.
But what was it that Mitt said?
“I’m not going to say outrageous things about the president “
Which, translated, is “I’m not going to take it to 0bama”.
Not many recent Presidential candidates come from that type of background, though lots pretend they do.
I think this got away faster than anyone on the RAT side ever suspected.
They were in full spin/damage control mode yesterday. My impression was that the implicit message to everyone was “Shut-up and this will go away by 11:00 PM.” Biden, the NAG whore, and now this TIME b!tch have resurrected it for at least another 24-hours.
I wonder if the popcorn is ready yet.
It depends on the nominee. If it's Romney, are you serious? I will never "support" Romney. Much less vote for him!
Ann is different than most women. In a way this is true because of the family’s wealth, but I’d bet that Hilary Rosen is even more different than most women. Aside from the fact that she doesn’t have money worries, Ann is living a normal family-centered life. Hilary is a gay adoptive mother who is a major opinion-molder for the left. How conventional, and how similar to most women’s lives, is that?
I am personally out of touch with mothers with six kids; 4 surnames among them.
I am personally out of touch with loud mouthed lesbians gaming the system for state support
I am personally out of touch with illegal aliens living off the state teat and sending my money back home
We’re all out of touch with some demographic. It’s not to Ann Romney’s discredit that some folks can’t identify with a heroic mother of five who has handled cancer and MS but somehow didn’t get a “real” job.
Actually she does. I know a few people who know her and say she is a good, down-to-earth person. They go to the same place to get their hair cut, the same grocery store, etc.
She'd have very few friends if she only associated with people who were at her financial level. (I'm making the distinction between income and wealth.) There just aren't that many billionaires around.
“What does a North Korean missile launch and Hilary Roesen’s career have in common?”
Both got shot down?
PS. I just scanned your posting history. You haven't posted in a month, but you emerged from lurk mode to post this to me. I am curious as to why.
I agree. Even axelrod stepped in it to spin that DNC's Rosen is CNN's employee (I know, same thing).
Leave it to Time to hear crazy, and double down.
Whatever. Her husband is still a socialist trying to lie and buy his way into the White House.
