The leader of the Tea Party Nation organization has a blunt message for likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney: Tea partiers will likely vote for you, but dont expect them to get energized and campaign for you.
The tea party is not going to coalesce around Romney, Judson Phillips told The Daily Caller on Thursday. Most of us will vote for Romney, but we will not be out there with signs for him or in his campaign.
Phillips said that surveys conducted on the Tea Party Nation website have shown that about 25 percent of tea party activists say they wont vote for Romney in the general election.
-snip- Another conservative leader, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, struck a similar note after former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum dropped out of the presidential race this week.
Its difficult for us to back a candidate our constituents dont believe in and arent excited about, Perkins told CNN

Guess they prefer Obama
Romney has NO shot....zero.....zilch.....nada.
Then why not Newt? Makes no sense that so many people don’t even respect Mitt Romney yet focus on him as the candidate. Makes no sense. Romney has Romney on his mind while Newt has America on his.
Maybe many people, mostly women I understand don’t respect Newt, but of the two we believe in the one that has America first on his mind.
They should hold their noses, and vote Newt rather than hold their noses, and vote Romney.
Romney has a shot, only because Obama is apparently stupid enough to send Fly Over America screaming towards him with race riots and hippie infestations, a la 1968.
They don’t have to campaign for Romney, they can campaign against Obama, which is their forte anyway. Its not just Obama we need to fire, its his whole admin, especially eric holder. The Romney admin will likely be liberal, but not the virulent communists and racists littering the obama admin.
Fergetit. I'm voting conservative, the GOP can pound sand. I didn't leave them, they left me.
And I will never vote for Romney.
/johnny
Gonna get Obama anyways. RINOS/RINO policies DO NOT win presidential elections. NEVER HAVE. People seem to be completely freakin ignorant of history. (not you, just people in general, especially Republican establishment worshipers.)
I don’t follow self appointed leaders either, but at least this guy is stating the truth. Nobody wants Romney that is associated with any tea party group.
I won't vote for a liberal. Period.
/johnny
And Obama and the commies thank you for that.
/johnny
The tea party is not going to coalesce around Romney,
In one of his speechese, I’m 98% sure I heard Romney say “coRalesce” which, as far as I know, isn’t a word. Another dummy potentially heading up the free world.
As a Tea Partier, I’ll vote for Romney, will not campaign for him, and will campaign against Obama. That’s about as good as it gets for us conservatives, I think.
It is perfectly fine and understandable that the Tea Party does not want to endorse Mitt. Just STFU about it then.
It is one thing to not believe in enough of the core principles of a candidate to give your support but only moronic idiots would turn that lack of endorsement into cannon fodder for Mubumbo Odumbo.
The Tea Party, SHOULD have made itself heard loud and clear before and in the early stages of the primaries. That is the time for us to move the big gray elephant back on the right path and away from the seductive Progressives.
Now that time has passed and this is what we have to work with. The Tea Party should now concentrate on getting the most Conservative candidates elected to the House and Senate so they can pull Mitt to the right if he tends to walk into the communist weeds.
Again, Tea Party I love you but, STFU if all you are going to do is attack the candidate running under the GOP banner.
REMEMBER or LEARN that the communist Progressives WILL use every Saul Alinsky trick in his dishonest debate book to get Fearless Reader, Mubumbo Odumbo, elected and they will make use of every attack the Tea Party or any of us directs at Mitt.
For all purposes the Primaries are over. This is who will be running and you now have a choice; Four more years with an anti-American occupying the White Hut and no worries about future elections so he will be free to complete his destruction of the country or a candidate who may not share all or even most of your values but at least does NOT HATE the USA.
and you dont speak for me -
because - anybody but the present usurper is ok with me
Its nonsense like this article that will win o another term as their mccain ply works again
This is just preposterous B.S. Why VOTE for Romney? He does not forward Tea Party principles. This republican party and some conservatives are just cowardly prix!
NO MORE RINOS!
So articulate the difference between the 2. As I see it there is none.
Why don't you STFU about promoting the liberal corruption of the GOP? This Tea Party guy is sending the exact right message. As long as he doesn't endorse Obama, he's all good to me. If we get two bad candidates, I'm going to exercise my free speech to say we got two bad candidates.
a candidate who may not share all or even most of your values but at least does NOT HATE the USA.
I don't care what's in his head, I just care what power he's going to be capable of wielding. A gridlocked Obama for 4 more years will probably implement a lot less liberal policy than an empowered Romney for 4-8 years. Very many Republicans are dying to go liberal with Romney because they either believe in things like homosexual marriage or they believe it will get them more votes. If Obama is in office, they'll maintain their opposition to his policy out of fear of Tea Party primary attacks. While we can "primary" liberal Republicans, it seems like presidential elections have proven too big for Tea Partiers to wrangle, especially against Romney's money. So I doubt we'd be able to primary him in 2016 if we couldn't defeat him this time.
Has anyone read Rule by Secrecy author Jim Marrs? I’m asking because it’s relative to the coming election.
The republican party had better listen up and define a Tea Partier, of which I consider myself one.
I do not join organizations or groups. I have my own set of political priorities, most of which, if not all, are derived from the constitution.
I use to be proud to call myself a Republican. However, today the republican party is nothing but a bunch of back stabbing leftist leaches, and me first types. The democratic party is even worse.
I'm a conservative. Not a Republican.

Take your “lesser of two evils”, “hold-your-nose-and-vote” mentality someplace where people are dumb enough to buy into scare tactics.
20 out of 50 states with over 1,000 delegates (45% of the total) haven't voted yet and you think the primaries are over? You seem very interested in suppressing people's right to exercise free speech and their freedom to vote. You just love Romney the Masshole that much, do you? I didn't realize elections were over when only 55% of the vote was in. The bottom line is it's still in the hands of the voters. If they decide to vote against Romney, he will be denied the automatic nomination and we can reload for the convention. Like Sarah Palin said last night, don't retreat, reload.
“The Tea Party should now concentrate on getting the most Conservative candidates elected to the House and Senate so they can pull Mitt to the right”
That’s not going to happen any more than Boehner and McConnell got pulled to the right in the aftermath of 2010.
I do, however, agree that this is where conservatives need to focus. I’ll be paying particular attention to competitive Senate races where a conservative is running. If we can flip the Senate, we can at least gain the ability to send legislation to whichever socialist ends up in the White House.
A reelected Obama will not be "gridlocked"; if he wins another term, he will almost certainly have a Democrat Senate, and the GOP will have a smaller majority in the House. That is what is so dangerous in assuming the choice betweeen Obama and Romney wouldn't matter, because Romney would have a significantly more conservative Congress to deal with.
My point is that the dynamics of the campaign will dictate down-ballot elections, and if the electorate favors Obama, they will give Harry Reid the majority again. If you thought things were bad since 2008, just imagine what's in store in a second Obama term.
Now the GOP-e and FOXNEWS (can't be trusted) have to eat their own work. We can either vote for four more years..no, that is totally not acceptable. Or we can vote for four years of a liberal in conservatives clothing who has been jammed down the throats of the public and run over top of any other candidate who dared to speak against him. And that is not acceptable either. Or we can vote for a real conservative, without regard to the Alinsky tactics being used by BOTH major political parties.
What the GOP-e and FOXNEWS (can't be trusted) have done is prove that they care more about their own agenda and maintaining the status quo than what is good for the people of America. That is also a form of hating the USA.
So you’re suggesting that the Tea Party people should just shut up and fall in line like good little serfs. Is that today’s GOP-e talking point? I don’t get their memos.
“Romney has NO shot....zero.....zilch.....nada.”
That is precisely why he’s there.. same thing happened with that old fool coward McCain. Folks, we are being played like a fiddle.
Its not scare tactics, its reality, provided mitt is the nominee and it sure looks like he will. You want to not vote for him, fine, that is essentially a vote for Obama
and his commie admin. If you are ok with that, so be it.
You condeman scare tactics, and then you ping the admin to try and scare me from posting my opinion. How Orwellian of you.
Romney is the Washington Generals of candidates.
Thank you. We are letting the GOPe "deem" the race over, that's exactly what's happening. They say it's over so it's over?
I don't think so. What's the latest PA polls? I can't believe Sketch would get Rick's votes so is Rick still in the position to force a bc?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
The tea party “leaders” have gotten the message that people are not in lock step with Romney.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Then why in the hell did 1/3 of the Tea Partiers vote for RINO-Rom in every friggin’ Primary? I watched closely. 1/3 of the Tea Partiers supported him. And, why the hell didn’t the Tea Party take the lead and coalesce around ONE Conservative so we would not keep dividing up the vote and giving RINO-Rom “plurality” victories? So, the bottom line is:
ALL TEA PARTIERS ARE NOT CONSERVATIVE!!!
You reap what you sow!
Romney has NO shot....zero.....zilch.....nada.

BULLSH** ! I remember friends of mine telling me in 2008: “Obama doesn’t have a chance”. I said to them: “BULLSH**”. Now, I see that 4 years later, in 2012, ignorance is still rampant.
/johnny
It is NOT “essentially” a vote for Obama. If I vote third party, it is ONLY a vote for the person I pull the lever for. It does not take votes from anyone or give votes to anyone except that person, and it’s flat-out wrong to say otherwise. And I pinged the admin because support of Romney, whether blatant or the “soft” support that you espouse, is a no-no on FR according to Jim. Consider yourself advised.
“You condeman scare tactics, and then you ping the admin to try and scare me from posting my opinion. How Orwellian of you.”
Yep, that one positively reeked of irony. Let’s give four more years to the Communist...THAT will show ‘em who’s boss!
Do what you wanna do; nobody gives a crap. But, since you apparently don’t care about this Election, why are you even on this website. Go play Solitaire or something.
That tow the party line rhetoric seems familiar somehow. The party elite thank you Im sure. They sort of knew most of you would fall in line once they convinced the sheeple that resistance was futile.
You make a valid point.
I wonder why the GOP elite didn't think of it before pushing the lying, etch-a-sketch, liberal down our throats.
Or did they?
I have a different take. I think Romney was pushed deliberately to take the tea party down. This was telegraphed when the party elites not only failed to promote several tea party candidates in 2010, but actually opposed them. Mr. Rove's words about O'Donnell, told me all I needed to know about the GOP elite and that is they are not on the same team we are.
The GOP elite purposely pushed the most liberal candidate they thought they could win. Now, Mr. Rove's words may come back to haunt him. You got him nominated, now get him elected.
/johnny
I heard Romney say coRalesce which, as far as I know, isnt a word. Another dummy potentially heading up the free world.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Are you referring to Geoge W. or Dan Quayle? They were demonized by the media and made to look like dummies. But, they were both very smart.
this guy is stating the truth. Nobody wants Romney that is associated with any tea party group.

Please see Post #34
And I've been on this website longer than you have, newb. It's a CONSERVATIVE web site, not a Republican website.
/johnny
I do blame the GOP-e for pushing Mitt on us. But they did it, its a done deal (at least it appears that way) and now you have a choice of Mitt or Obama. They are very similar in so many ways it is hard to tell the difference, but Mitt does not have long radical history of hating this country, appeasing our enemies and vilifying our allies, hating and vilifying the Constitution, and promoting race hatred and race baiting. Also, I doubt seriously Mitt is going to abuse the power of executive orders to bypass a republican congress.
There is a difference, and by not seeing that and by not voting for Mitt (if he is the nominee) you are helping Obama get re elected. If that is ok with you in order to stand by your convictions, then so be it. It is not ok with me, I don’t think this country can survive another four years of Obama. God help us.
Romney certainly doesn’t have a shot at all in this household.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Wow! And those 4 votes will probably seal his defeat.
Nope. There will be candidates for the Constitution, Libertarian and other parties on the ballot.
It's YOU who are helping elect Obama by pushing the hand-picked GOP-e liberal.
