In Newark, Mayor Cory Booker Saves a Woman From a Fire (His security men tried to stop him!)

Mayor Cory A. Booker of Newark carried a woman out of a burning house and was treated for smoke inhalation on Thursday night.

Mr. Booker arrived to his home in the Upper Clinton Hill neighborhood to find a neighbor’s house on fire, said Anne Torres, a spokeswoman. The Fire Department had not yet arrived, she said, and Mr. Booker went inside with two members of his security detail and rescued one woman. The mayor was treated at a hospital and released at 11:30 p.m. “Everyone is O.K.,” Ms. Torres wrote in an e-mail.

The mayor told The Star Ledger that he had suffered burns on his hand. He said that his security detail had at one point tried to block him from going back inside.

He'll be sitting in Lautenberg's Senate seat, whenever they decide to bury that walking corpse.

I doubt they'll even bother to hold an election. He's that awesome!

Yep. The primary concern of a security detail is the safety of the protectee.

Glad he was able to get her out without too much damage to himself. He's a real man, and did what a real man does.

Like Obama saved all those fainting zombies at his campaign speeches?

I was born in Newark in 1940 & lived there or close by until 2002. I have paid attention to that city all of my life & I believe that this is the first honest mayor they have had in my lifetime. That covers a lot of crooked mayors.
I don’t agree with Booker on a lot of things but he does seem to be making some headway & at least he appears to be honest.

Sometime read how Booker moved into the projects and began to teach the residents how to care for their property, how to get jobs, and get off the government dole. Also he bought a travel trailer and moved it onto the drug house corner and slept there and reported them until they got out of the neighborhood. You don’t see him hanging out at the White House either.

You are right. Booker got involved in an arrest too a few years ago. He is hands-on for sure. If you follow him on twitter you see that he is involved to the max in everything.

During the blizzard in late 2010 Mayor Booker was out walking the streets of his city, tweeting back to garage when he found places that needed attention. Very cool.

“I don’t agree with Booker on a lot of things but he does seem to be making some headway & at least he appears to be honest.”

He is a lib, and always trying to shake down “The Man”, but he’s much better than Sharpe James. As far as this story goes, good for him - it was a decent & courageous (and non-partisan) thing to do.

I like Booker. He's a decent guy.

I'm just a little skeptical of the media spin on any story about a Democrat.

If a Democrat saves somebody from a fire, he's the greatest human that ever lived. If a Republican saves somebody from a fire, the media will look into his recent gasoline purchases.
