Fox News Poll: Romney Edges Obama as Approval of President Drops
Foxnews.com ^ | April 12, 2012 | Dana Blanton

Republican Mitt Romney holds a slim edge over President Obama in a head-to-head matchup, a Fox News poll released Thursday shows. In addition, the poll finds the president’s job rating has dropped to its lowest point of the year.

In a presidential matchup, Romney tops Obama by 46-44 percent if the election were today.

As with every Romney-Obama matchup in the past six months, the race is so tight that it is within the poll’s margin of sampling error. This, however, is only the second time the Fox News poll shows Romney on top. The first time was November 2011, when he was also up by 2 percentage points.

The poll was conducted Monday through Wednesday. On Tuesday, Rick Santorum suspended his presidential bid -- giving Romney a clear path to the Republican nomination.

More Republicans (42 percent) than Democrats (32 percent) or independents (34 percent) say they are “extremely” interested in the upcoming presidential election.

Even so, the strength of party support in the matchup is dead even: 85 percent of Democrats back Obama and 85 percent of Republican back Romney.

Among the highly sought after group of independents, the poll found 43 percent back Romney and 37 percent Obama. Nearly one in four independent voters (21 percent) is undecided or won’t vote for either of the major party candidates. Last month, independents split evenly between Obama and Romney at 40 percent each. In February, Romney had a 9-point advantage.

Don’t worry. By election time the Dems will have every black convinced the whites are breaking out nooses and Jim Crow; they’ll have most women thinking we are going to take away all their contraception; and all gays will think we are going to drag them off to concentration camps.

The only group that hasn’t been attacked in this manner is the Latinos; and that’s only because with Zimmerman (the “white” hispanic) it’s a touch too schizophrenic. But the MSM will figure it out. Some woman with umpteen children will “die because she’s being deported!” and it will be katie bar the door.

Never forget what we are actually on the verge of losing.

There seem to be fewer and fewer of us left who understand this around here lately.

Where did the sane people go? This place is turning into an abode of delusional children throwing temper tantrums.

In 2000, there was a young black man at one of the Bush v Gore protests/rallies that sincerely believed that Republicans wanted to re-institute slavery.

A good thing about the poll is that the incumbent is so low and most “undecideds” will co for the challenger. Regardless of discussions about the challenger, Obama is a weak candidate, and the more he talks the lower he will sink.

Obama lost independents it should be a landside win for Romney. Sadly Obama will win because of fools still waiting on Gingrich or Palin.

Obama gets called to the carpet VIDEO our media does not want to report.

Not if FR has anything to say about it!

No Romney, no way.

-"Are you serious? You want Obama to win?"

I can see it coming. Some people will be stuck and think we're still in a contested primary nomination (except Obama is not in the Republican primaries). We're not too far off from seeing some of these people saying "4 MORE YEARS"!

What worries me most is that a foreign company in Spain will be counting the votes.

Yep, in order to save the republic, we need to allow Obama to do his worst.

You can see it in some of the radical black racism; they do believe that. And you can’t argue with it; it’s totally emotional.

And that’s why the Dems keep playing the race card. It works, and it works in a way that keeps logic from making inroads into the voting process.

The shame is on the people who calculatedly do this, like the Dem political operatives, people like Sharpton (who I am convinced doesn’t believe his own rhetoric) and worst of all, the MSM who so doggedly pursue statism and national socialism in any way they can.

And what if he does some more irreversible damage, like he's already done to the military? Like proudly flying the gay rainbow flag over a war zone? Or makes a few more recess appointments while congress is in town? Or appoints a few more radical czars? Or steps up his war against the Catholic Church and Christians? Or God knows what else?

People that want Obama to win so that we get the next conservative messiah is just deluding themselves or are idiotic. I want another Reagan as much as anyone, but if Obama wins again the libs will take even more power and we will not recover. The county will probably elect some libtard as prez in 2016 to. We must stop the bleeding.

I’m thinking that you’re in the minority among Freepers on this. Probably the minority of the minority.
