Fox News Poll: Romney Edges Obama as Approval of President Drops
Foxnews.com ^ | April 12, 2012 | Dana Blanton

Republican Mitt Romney holds a slim edge over President Obama in a head-to-head matchup, a Fox News poll released Thursday shows. In addition, the poll finds the president’s job rating has dropped to its lowest point of the year.

In a presidential matchup, Romney tops Obama by 46-44 percent if the election were today.

As with every Romney-Obama matchup in the past six months, the race is so tight that it is within the poll’s margin of sampling error. This, however, is only the second time the Fox News poll shows Romney on top. The first time was November 2011, when he was also up by 2 percentage points.

Click here for full poll results.

The poll was conducted Monday through Wednesday. On Tuesday, Rick Santorum suspended his presidential bid -- giving Romney a clear path to the Republican nomination.

More Republicans (42 percent) than Democrats (32 percent) or independents (34 percent) say they are “extremely” interested in the upcoming presidential election.

Even so, the strength of party support in the matchup is dead even: 85 percent of Democrats back Obama and 85 percent of Republican back Romney.

Among the highly sought after group of independents, the poll found 43 percent back Romney and 37 percent Obama. Nearly one in four independent voters (21 percent) is undecided or won’t vote for either of the major party candidates. Last month, independents split evenly between Obama and Romney at 40 percent each. In February, Romney had a 9-point advantage.

So let's say you are stranded out in the desert, on the verge of dying of thirst. As you stagger through the hot dry sands, in a desperate attempt to find water, You come across a case of a popular sports drink half buried in a shade of a sand dune.

Frantically, you claw away at the sand until you fully uncover the case of life-saving liquid refreshment. Grabbing one of the bottles, you rub away the sand and dirt so that you can read the ingredients...

"Damn," you mutter to yourself, "High Fructose Corn Syrup! I can't drink that, bad for my health!" So you toss the bottle aside in disgust and continue on your way, eventually dropping dead several miles away.

And so that is how I see this upcoming election. Romney not only is loaded with high fructose corn syrup, he's loaded with red dye #3, trans-fats and all sorts of artificial junk. But the alternative is drinking Kool-Aid served up by Jim Jones and the People's Temple.

Yep, in order to save the republic, we need to allow Obama to do his worst.

I see from your profile that you agree with my tagline. Strange that we both hold that belief yet we arrive at radically different conclusions as it applies to this election.

These people are vastly ignorant. They actually believe that letting Obama win, and even going out of their way to make it happen, will not only punish the GOP, (revenge) but will make the country fail so completely that a “Conservative” savior will emerge, heal the country and lead us all back to economic prosperity and Conservative Utopia.

But as history has illustrated repeatedly, the very opposite occurs. Instead, after the economic collapse of the Free Enterprise system, a Totalitarian, Socialism in one form or another, takes control. And a Government Dictatorship may emerge, that will rule the population through fear and deadly retribution.

Europe has gone through this cycle repeatedly for thousands of years. America is no exception to the rule. It amazes me to see so many people who deny that we are actually very close to seeing this scenario become a reality.

at least Romney won’t be actively burning the house down and fomenting a race war at the same time.

You are deluded if you think Romney is good for this country in any way. The only people who are going to benfift from Romney are those who financially supported his run. Anything that might come otherwise will be chicken feed at best for the country. He's a HUGE Globalist and his sights are on bringing us into the Global One world Governance....which means we no longer have a say ..it's all run by Elites..and Romney's going to bask in his position before the International Community as they pull his strings and he OBEYS!

If Congress didn't stop Obamas agenda...that we have to get the UN'S permission to go to war....what makes you think they'll lift a finger to keep Romney in line? They won't because he's one of them and that's how they see him so they wil not push Romney in any way or measure.

I know! what is going on here? There is another thread where people are in outrage of Romney winning. Many are backing Newt! Newt isnt anywhere near the delegates needed to get the nomination. I don’t agree with Romney’s policies but I do not think he is evil. If Obama gets 4 more years our government may be beyond repair! What if he appoints Muslims that are for Sharia to the SCOTUS!? Ever thought of that mess anyone?

IF Romney receives the GOP nomination and IF I vote for him in November, will I have to publicly admit it on FR that I voted for him???

I’m not a Romney fan.Period.

I’d rather write in the Tina Fey look-a-like from Alaska.

But Obama is a bigger danger...

I think what you are seeing is the long-term psychological effects of the GOP continually playing “Charlie Brown and the Football” with us.

Gerald Ford, Bob Dole, John McCain, and now this. You can’t blame some of us for thinking that the Republican Party is nothing but a big, slow-footed fighter who earns his payday taking a dive every so often.

Can’t really blame us for thinking that.

The problem with Romney is that we have no firm reason to believe he’ll fix any of that. His conservatism is 100% rhetoric. His record is that of a radical leftist; he ran to the left of Ted Kennedy in ‘94 and governed Massachusetts as a progressive liberal.

He can claim several important states as “home” - ... Mass...

It's great that Santorum got out, seeing the concern he might not even take his home state.... so that we could replace him with a guy who... might not even take his home state.

A new Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters in Massachusetts finds Obama earning 51% support to Romney's 40%.

That is what is at stake here. This is no longer just another election cycle that we can easily turn around after 4 years. If we lose this, it’s game over. Especially after they make web sites like this illegal, under the “Hate Crime” laws. They will legislate our ideology, as a crime, just like they made using the “N” word punishable in a court of law if your skin is white.

It will get much worse, and there may well be euthanasia of the elderly, or people who do not meet the Government’s standard. It is already happening in Europe and China.
