ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Central Florida supermarket chain is about to close almost all of its local stores. It's part of a move by Albertson's to end the majority of its operations in the state. For the last year or so, Albertson's has been shrinking the number of stores it operates in Florida. In Central Florida, six more stores are going to close in the next few weeks. Only a store in Altamonte Springs will remain open. Albertson's says the Florida market is not good for it, and with fuel and utility costs being what they are, it's closing all but four stores statewide.

Publix subs are the BEST! My fiancee and I will go the extra half mile to Publix over Subway just to get a better sandwich. Any place that uses deli-sliced meat and cheese and fresh baked bread is going to destroy the cookie-cutter sub industry that Subway pimps.
Albertson’s was never really an option in our area. Growing up, Albertson’s was where you went to buy convenience items cheaper than the local 7-11. I do, however, agree that they were great for holiday last minute items.
Publix is a well run outfit....non union
Harris Teeter too
Kroger....union affirmative action apathetic types...you suck
I grew up with Jitney Jungle, Ann Page, Sunflower and Winn Dixie
And Delchamps.....and of course Pig
Groceries come and go like oil companies
SuperValu owns Albertson's. They also own Cub Foods, Farm Fresh Markets, Hornbacher's, Jewel Osco, Shop N Save Warehouse Foods, and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy. (I work in the industry.)
Looks like there are no more Albertsons left in the Houston area. Our local store closed about 10 years ago. I was always surprised they stayed in business as long as they did as their prices were so much higher than any of the other grocery stores.

Fred Meyer here in the west used to featured terrifc coupons on food items and I've noticed now that they have very really terrific items on sale....
food inflation is here...
stock up when you can...not for surviving TSHTF scenarios but just to stay ahead of inflation...
Haven’t seen any Woodmans yet. Where are they setting up?
Seems to be a lot on here that would be happy with another 4 years of FUBO. Pathetic.
