Harvard University law professor Alan Dershowitz made an appearance on on MSNBCs Hardball to discuss the Zimmerman arrest affidavit, and had some incredibly harsh language for Angela Corey concerning her actions in the George Zimmerman prosecution.
Dershowitz is a well-known Democrat with a column on the Huffington Post, but seemed stunned by how poorly written the affidavit was, going so far as to call it irresponsible and unethical, as well as Coreys actions politically motivated. He also said that if the prosecution didnt have more evidence for the case than what weve seen, a good judge would throw it out.
Heres the interview:
Smerconish: Joining me now, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz. Professor, Ive really looked forward to this conversation. Youve seen the affidavit of probable cause, what do you make of it?
Dershowitz: It wont suffice. Most affidavits of probable cause are very thin; this is so thin that it wont make it past a judge on a second degree murder charge. Theres simply nothing in there that would justify second degree murder. The elements of the crime arent established.
Basically whats in the affidavit is whats in the public domain, with the exception of a few little things that were put forward by your previous commentator. But the fact that the mother identified the voice as that of her son, of course, we all knew that was going to happen. Theres nothing in there of course either about the stains on the back of Zimmermans shirt, the blood on the back of his head, the bloody nose, all of that.
Its not only thin, its irresponsible. I think that what you have here is an elected public official who made a campaign speech last night for reelection when she gave her presentation, and over-charged, way over-charged. This case will not, if the evidence is no stronger that what appears in the probable-cause affidavit, this case will result in an acquittal.
Very strongly worded statements from Dershowitz, who basically stopped just short of directly claiming Corey engaged in prosecutorial misconduct by her actions.
I swear he is getting more and more conservative as he ages...and the more I age, the more I seem to appreciate his comments!
You don’t even have to be a lawyer to see there is nothing to this. The defence attorney could have written it.
Dershowitz is a well-known Democrat with a column on the Huffington Post, but seemed stunned by how poorly written the affidavit was...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Of course it was poorly written. It had to be dumbed down so the ignorant cracker hating race baiters could understand it.
I think he may be having a hard time admitting that a liberal utopia conflicts with liberty, justice, freedom, and reality.
What worries me is that Zimmerman’s new lawyer strikes me as being pretty much on the prosecutor’s team. I think he’s a plant.
I think the fix is in.
This is going to be a slow-motion lynching which (since it’s 2nd degree murder) won’t end in an actual body hanging from a tree limb but “only” life in prison (where he will most likely become a body dangling from the end of a metal cot).
Zimmerman, I fear, is a lost cause. And though my heart goes out to him, I don’t believe there’s much any of us can do.
I can only hope this wakes up the Hispanic community to the reality of their “ally” in the White House.
This whole thing is orchestrated from the White House, of course.
Rush was talking about this. The theory is, that Angela Corey knew that Zimmerman can’t be convicted and never should have been charged, but for the good of her career (and perhaps, safety) she brought charges with a royally screwed up affidavit that would then force the judge to dismiss the case on a technicality. Thereby getting her neck out of the noose.
Just so, lawyers who realy love and respect the law should speak most loudly against the abuse of the law for PC propaganda. It hurts the entire profession when a bunch of con artists take over the dominant narrative.
I think Dershowitz really respects the Law and I think he sees where the Law has become simply a political tool used by criminals in high places.
Dershowitz is a liberal, but he seems to be a lawyer first and foremost, and he isn’t merciful to what he sees as sloppy lawyering. This is starting to sound like Corey aiming as high as she can and hoping to either get a jury to convict on a lesser charge, or get Zimmerman to plead to a lesser charge. With a good dose of Nifong-style pandering to the Democratic base thrown in for seasoning.
Bingo! A placated document for a placating act.
I thought the same thing, even though I am not a lawyer.......but I play one on FR................
The judge just came up with an excuse about why she should be recused.
On what possible basis do you believe Zimmerman’s lawyer secretly works for the prosecutor?
Slow to anger and quick to mercy...
The last people in the world you want to anger is the Jews.
Slow to anger does not mean ‘never’.
Obama and Co. has done it.
The word ‘wrath’ comes to mind.
” This whole thing is orchestrated from the White House, of course.”
Obama and Holder cooked this up. The race pimps, and MSM didn’t really enter the equation much until Obama “adopted” Trayvon. Any blood resulting from this belongs to Obama.
I can see the possibility. It's kind of ridiculous, but I won't discount that theory out of hand.
But we certainly live in unusual times when a professional decides that for the sake of her career, when she is handled a major case of national interest, her best bet is to screw the whole thing up by writing an affidavit which makes her look like a fool. An unusual strategy for career success.
Zimmerman must and will be convicted, thrown to the wolves,so to speak. Facts and law mean nothing to his case. Blacks must be placated!
And I hope Angela Corey loses her job.
Is Angela Corey deliberately throwing out a ricidulous and trumped up charge so “benefit” Zimmerman? Will this be thrown out?
Maybe. But others think she is dumber than Mike Nifong. She may really believe the Duke Univ. boys were guilty, And Obama was right; that the cops did “act stupidly”, and that Tawana Brawley was really raped, and Zimmerman hunted down and assassinated an innocent child.
Never underestimate a liberal woman with legal and political clout. They are insanely dangerous.
The affidavit is probably sufficient. As for Dershowitz he’s an arrogant jerk with a long history of criticizing other attorneys as incompetent. It’s an Ivy League thing it’s how they make money.
“Zimmerman, I fear, is a lost cause. And though my heart goes out to him, I dont believe theres much any of us can do.”
May I humbly suggest you go run, hide, and cry.
Cowering, whining “we are so screwed” defeatists.
did zimmerman’s lawyer work for AMTRAK? cos the poor guy’s getting one hell fo a railroad job!
if this ain’t mob justice, I ain’t ever seen mob justice. the law? they don’t need no steenking law!
That’s my reaction to him too. He’s liberal, but in his Harvard University setting, he’s probably the most conservative person around.
Does the judge dismiss the charges with or without prejudice? The former, I would suspect, since “jeopardy attached”, which means that there is not a damned thing the State of Florida can do to him. Wait for Holder’s people to take a run at him on “Civil Rights” charges.
Here’s what is really going on: The establishment knows Zimmerman acted in self defense; that’s why the initial prosecutor refused to charge him with anything. To respond to the public outcry, they charged Zimmerman with second degree murder - a charge that requires intent and one they will never prove nor get a jury to convict on. If they had charged manslaughter, it is possible a jury would have convicted - but they will never convict for second degree because it requires intent. Before everyone falls in love with Dershowitz, realize that his criticism of the affidavit comes from this perspective - he knows the state has “overcharged” and therefore he knows already that Zimmerman will walk...so Dershowitz is lamenting that the fix is already in to clear Zimmerman.
yes, it does. With intent and malicious forethought. Aggravated, as they say.
I don’t think the people on Fox have read the affidavit, because today they have a hate on for Zimmerman
Obama and Holder planned this meticulously, Black Panthers, MSM, and all!!
“Dershowitz...going so far as to call...Coreys actions politically motivated.”
If by political he means career, then I agree.
“Clear Zimmerman”.
Before SHTF :
I’m setting up perimeter watch. Attaching DC current to fence wire. (Bait optional)
Clearing brush for 100 yd. firing zone 360.
Can food and ammo, can food and ammo... (Don’t forget dog food for the cuddly “Killer”.)
Oh yes , must get few trenches dug and fitted w “incendiaries”, for surprise reception.
Hope it’s all for nothing.
They are all involved now and able to be ‘called’.
Guaranteed however, they will be ‘protected’ by the GOP. Interesting isn't it? That the so called ‘Liberals’ would become instruments of the GOP. Nazi vs. Stalin. Amazing, here we go again. Round two of Left vs. further Left.
Well, I might believe that if the Dersh critically investigates Obama's (in)eligibility issues.
You know, the
The LSM was all spun up on this before Obama commented. He certainly added fuel to the fire.
After those two cases his credibility was pretty much zero and he knew it.
If you're over the age 30 and you still believe in the socialist utopian dream with reckless abandon then you're just an idiot! Liberals are nothing more than conservatives with no common sense. Liberals are selfish adolescent prix who won't let go!
Perhaps she was persuaded to sacrifice her career with a flimsy charge/evidence scenario, just to get past the “we just want him to be arrested” crowds. They possibly believe this case cannot result in a conviction, and have just gone through the motions, with no real meat to the charges or anticipated outcome.
I saw very little on this until Obama gave it “credibility” It would have died off, if it weren’t for Obama.
Mark Levin took the indictment apart last night on his show.
I thought about this possibility and hope it is the case. I worry about Zimmerman’s safely in the general prison population.
Shepard Smith keeps referring to the dead thug Trayvon as a "child". Live like a thug, die like a thug.
It better damn not be thrown out or acquittal or the ghetto is gonig ta burn baby burn.
A Democrat accusing another Democrat of prosecutorial misconduct??
Say no more.
LOL! I was thinking along the same lines!
Why is Smerconish on Hardball? Has he totally gone over to the dark side??? I know he voted for Obummer but I thought he was a Republican. I could never stand him anyway...
“Hypocrisy is the homage that vice pays to virtue.”
Dershowitz does something like this when his hypocrisy becomes even more than he can bear.
So this was all done with a wink and a nod to Zimmerman? Corey, knowing full well the case will go nowhere, is clear to super size the 'compassion' towards Martin's team...since there will be none once the trial starts?
I don't know. There's a little too much evil genius in that..
If it goes to trial, it will depend on who the jurors are. 12 liberal jurors who are already convinced that Zimmerman is guilty could listen to the evidence and pronounce him guilty. Afterwards they would hold press conferences complaining about the fact that “first degree murder” was not an option before them.
Not likely. Now that the world knows Zimmerman is latino.
And WHEN he’s cleared or aquitted, it’ll be on like donkey kong with holders people and all the boys who look like they could be obammas sons. Thats why this story was
brought to the top of the media crap pile.
Maybe they could even move the trial to Simi Valley just
for nostalgic effect.
Be prepared,depending on where your neighborhood is.
And then files a defamation suit against the media, Al Sharpton, the NBPP, and Obama.
