Secret Service scandal rocks Obama trip

CARTAGENA, Colombia — Up to a dozen Secret Service agents in Colombia for President Barack Obama’s trip there have been relieved of their duties amid allegations of misconduct. The Secret Service did not detail the accusations but said they did not affect security for the president, who landed in the country Friday for a weekend at the Summit of the Americas.

The Associated Press reported that the allegations involved prostitutes. A senior official told Fox News they were serious enough to require mediation by diplomats. “There have been allegations of misconduct made against Secret Service personnel in Cartagena, Colombia prior to the President’s trip. Because of this, those personnel are being relieved of their assignments, returned to their place of duty, and are being replaced by other Secret Service personnel,” Edwin Donovan, Secret Service spokesman, said in a statement.

CARTAGENA, Colombia (AP) — A dozen Secret Service agents sent to Colombia to provide security for President Barack Obama at an international summit have been relieved of duty because of allegations of misconduct.

A Secret Service spokesman did not dispute a tip received by The Associated Press that the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia, the site of the Summit of the Americas.

A U.S. official, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and requested anonymity, put the number of agents at 12. The agency was not releasing the number of personnel involved.

The Washington Post reported that Jon Adler, president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, said the accusations related to at least one agent having involvement with prostitutes in Cartagena. The association represents federal law enforcement officers, including the Secret Service.

Ronald Kessler, a former Post reporter and the author of a book about the Secret Service, told the Post that he had learned that 12 agents were involved, several of them married.

The incident threatened to overshadow Obama’s economic and trade agenda at the summit and embarrass the U.S. The White House had no comment.

12 highly trained and disciplined professional men don't all together chuck careers and marriages for prostitutes.

Their life is totally be cool and on the sly.

There's more to this than what's being let out.

Diplomats? Mediating something involving prostitutes and Secret Service agents?

LOL, yeah, right.

It was not the first time members of Obama’s security detail landed in hot water.

Last November, a federal agent with the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security was charged with second-degree murder after shooting a man during a dispute outside a McDonald’s in Hawaii.

The agent, Christopher Deedy, was off-duty at the time, but was on the island to do security work in advance of Obama’s trip to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

In August, an off-duty Secret Service agent was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Decorah, Iowa, where he was helping arrange security for Obama’s bus trip through three Midwestern states, the Washington Post reported. The agent, Daniel Valencia was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for time served, and a fine of $1,250.

The Associated Press received an “anonymous tip that the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia, the site of the Summit of the Americas. A Secret Service spokesman would neither confirm nor deny the allegation.”

The agents were staying at Cartagena’s Hotel Caribe, which is also hosting members of the White House staff and press corps during the summit

A hotel employee, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of losing his job, said the agents arrived at the beachfront hotel about a week ago.

The employee described the agents as drinking heavily during their stay.

The employee said the agents left the hotel Thursday, a day before Obama and other regional leaders arrived for the weekend summit.

I have difficulty that so many people, simultaneously, could mess up their careers with a lack of discipline.

One or two, I can believe, but there is no way 12 SS agents are going to throw their lives away to party.

That’s just not credible to me.

What happened? Up to a dozen accidentally see the paper LFBC?

Now they’re gonna can ‘em and put zippers for confidentiality?

Just kidding but yes, something very odd here.

Doesn’t make sense that 12 men made such a bad choice at the same time, from the Secret Service.

When I worked construction on the big jobs - after work 10 to 20 men would hit the nearby bar. Eventually 2, 3 or 4 guys would go to the cat house while the rest went home to their wives or girlfriends.

It could be that a few SS were with prostitutes while the rest are in trouble for not reporting them.

Obama probably found out that they were Republicans who didn’t care for him. I talked to a SS agent once during clinton’s 3rd year. he told me he couldn’t agree with me but he agreed with me when I told him what I thought of Clinton. then he took my picture and told me not to go to the President’s rally the next day. true story.

From earlier

Inside info:

It was not only Secret Service, but also some Army Special Forces guys.

They didn't pay some of the hookers.

At the hotel, they had to sign the girls in, so all the guys, by name are linked to the hookers.

All this is on hotel video.

Yeah, I’m thinking along the same lines. I find it very hard to believe this many agents screwed up this badly all at once. Not if the vetting and training standards have been upheld (which I’m going to assume have historically been rather stringent).

“Involvement with prostitutes” could mean attempting to hire prostitutes for someone else. Someone higher up than the agent himself.

And the normal assumption is that the prostitutes are female and/or of legal age. That’s not necessarily the case.

Just idle speculation, that’s all.

I suspect it’s a case where one or two guys were getting the hookers...and the remaining guys knew what they were doing but simply didn’t say anything or stop it. That by itself....is enough to suspend their security clearances. They expect you to rat on your co-workers...as soon as possible.

Within weeks of Obama being assigned Secret Service agents during Obamas run for the presidencey ( he was the earliest candidate to get and ss detail)they were vetted for their political orientations in terms of their attitude to liberation theology.

The unprofessionalism of the OBAMA SS Team was obvious to all who witnessed it, from brandishing automatic weapons at street side demonstrators in Raliegh , N.C., in a presidential candidate cavalcade,to investigating and threatening political opponents of Obama under the opretense that Obama's bully life was threatened, they NOW seem to have evolved into little more than thugs and bullies.

And now in Colombia it is no surprise that the SS "boys from the hood" are sevicing de-tail.I wonder if tax dollars paid for the ladies of the Colombian night.

Given the Obama thug meme, it will be no surprise if these 12 are replaced by agents who are even much worse thugs.
