Miami Heat players: Arrest in Trayvon Martin case brings some closure [Remember John Rocker?]
Miami Herald ^ | 4/12/12 | Joseph Goodman

Heat players were part of the movement three weeks ago to shed light on the circumstances involving the death of Trayvon Martin. On Thursday, they hoped the recent development in the case helped bring closure to the family.

Martin’s shooter, George Zimmerman, was charged with second-degree murder Wednesday. Martin, who was killed by Zimmerman in a gated community in Sanford while wearing a hooded sweatshirt, was a fan of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and the Heat.

Heat players, who later posed for a team photograph in hooded Heat sweatshirts as a show of support for Martin’s family, said Martin’s death affected them because many of the players have sons.

I remember a few years ago when John Rocker made some sociopolitical observations and he was drummed out of the game. These geniuses can wear hoodies and support the race card players and they're treated like heroes.

Maybe they are just trying to calm things down by declaring closure. I think we are a long way from closure, though. What they need to do is work on a plea of some kind that the family will be satisfied with. I doubt they are going to be able to get unanimous agreement from a jury, if it comes to that.

“Wade, a long time advocate against gun violence.”
Is there anyone who is an advocate for gun violence?

Wikipedia:

For a story published in the January 2000 issue of Sports Illustrated, Rocker made a number of allegations stemming from his experiences in New York City and answering a question about whether he would ever play for the New York Yankees or the New York Mets. Rocker’s response was considered racist, homophobic, and sexist:
“ I’d retire first. It’s the most hectic, nerve-racking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you’re riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It’s depressing... The biggest thing I don’t like about New York are the foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country? [3] ”

During the interview, he also spoke of his opinion of the New York Mets and their fans:
“ Nowhere else in the country do people spit at you, throw bottles at you, throw quarters at you, throw batteries at you and say, ‘Hey, I did your mother last night — she’s a whore.’ I talked about what degenerates they were and they proved me right.

Message to the Miami Heat players: STFU and play basketball!
We don’t need people with barely a college degree, some of which barely have a high school degree, commenting about legal matters they have no knowledge of!

Martin’s death affected them because many of the players have sons.

I wonder if the sons have married moms or are just some more feral spawn of the thugball players.

“Wade, a long time advocate against gun violence.”

Wade was raised on the South Side of Chicago, by his sister after his father dumped the family.

He never "saw, heard or participated in" any kind of gun violence and has always advocated against it.

obama never heard the rev wright say any of those anit-American slurs in 20 years in his church.

I suppose it provides some measure of revenge for the Martin family, but it provides nothing but heartbreak for the family of an innocent man who shot to save his own life.

When Miami loses in the playoffs, that will bring closure, as well.

...and as one who rode the 7 Line daily for more than 30 years, encompassing the time Rocker was talking about, he was 100% CORRECT!

Yep, most every rapper or hip hopper. It's a 'cultural' thing. You wouldn't understand. /s

Did any of these dim bulbs have anything so say about Ozzie Guillen, the manager of the Miami baseball team, the Marlins horrible comments in support of Fidel Castro?

Guillen said, “I respect Fidel Castro. You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that [expletive] is still here.”
