3 Years Later...What's become of the Tea Party (I am quoted)
ABC local/AP ^ | April 12' 2012 | Pauline Arrillago

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Three years ago he was merely a face in a very large crowd, standing outside the Alamo on Tax Day as Glenn Beck spoke of drawing a line in the sand.

A businessman, husband, father of five and grandfather of 14, Bruce Baillio bought a miniature "Don't Tread on Me" flag and watched, a little sheepishly and mostly silently, as a movement was born before his eyes. Like most of America, he didn't know then what the tea party was.

I don’t think there is a tea party anymore.

If you add up the votes for Gingrich and Santorum, they amounted to more than Romney's in a lot of the states that have voted already in the primary. Unfortunately, the Tea Party seems to be divided between those with Christian values who wholeheartedly supported Santorum, and those who are purely financial conservatives like those who wholeheartedly supported Gingrich. I myself supported Santorum mostly due to his unwavering stance against the global warming fraud. But if reading FR threads is indicative of the trends in the Tea Party nationwide, a lot of Gingrich supporters hated Santorum for his Christian beliefs, calling him Saintorum, cultist, etc.

The Tea Party is strong but there is a strong divide that exists and can be exploited when there is a choice between two types of conservatives.

The Tea Party was about fiscal issues. That is the one ing we all agree on. it’s the everything elsemthat trips us up. We do not all agree on social issues... And we never will.

I would bet a month's pay (if I weren't also retired) that although you don't see the “Tea Party” out there making noise, when it comes time to step into the voting booth, they will rise up and become the movement that we all pray for! My husband and I are in our 70’s, and don't get out as much as we use to, but our hearts have not changed since those early days. Americans are mostly still conservatives.

The Tea Party has gone the way of the Silent Majority
and the Christian Coalition. One would think the 2012
election would be in the bag for anyone running against
Obama. Yet, where is hue, cry, and outrage against the
Ascended 0ne.

Thanks; that is how I’m seeing it shake out so far.

I believe as the election nears we’ll start seeing the large demonstrations again; there is no shortage of good material for the signs being held up.

"I don’t think there is a tea party anymore."

Yeah. No Doubt. Over 40% of all American voters and their lifelong, deeply held convictions have all just disappeared.

Just kidding. If you doubt that The Tea Party is still here, let's discuss it after the November elections. If the Dems win back the House, or keep the Senate, then you might be right. On the other hand, if we strengthen the House Majority and take over the Senate, it'll pretty much prove that we're still right here, biding our time, watching the candidates with a microscope.

We may mot be at a meeting and screaming as you say but we are out here, motivated and trounce at any provocation. We are turning Ol Saul right back on them. Every time this week Nobama tried one of his tactics he was throwing someone under the bus. The Tea Party is alive and well!!!

See # 27; I believe they will hold demonstrations again as the election nears. The TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party grew as it did by skirting the conservative/liberal debate (I remember when they avoided getting involved in the “gay marriage” issue); they are an anti-tax, anti-”big government” movement (and who would argue with that platform except the parasites drawing from the government?).

"The Tea Party has gone the way of the Silent Majority and the Christian Coalition."

Says you. I'm a part of the Tea Party, as are all my friends and most of my family. We haven't gone anywhere. It was The Tea Party bigshot who made headlines two days ago warning Romney not to expect us to campaign for him. You must have missed that.

"One would think the 2012 election would be in the bag for anyone running against Obama. Yet, where is hue, cry, and outrage against the Ascended 0ne."

Try reading the Tea Party Tribune online. Or FreeRepublic, for that matter. Or any of the thousands of anti-Obunghole articles and threads posted here every week.

Are you predicting an O'Bunga win in November? Guess again. Nobody expected a huge GOP sweep in November of 2010, either. That's the thing about a "Silent Majority." They're "silent." If you're not really observant, you won't even know they're there.

I stood with a million people in Washington DC In front of the Capitol and demanded that they not pass Obamacare. Excuse me if I don’t think these demonstrations do a thing. So we got busy... And now we have an opportunity to affect local government. one more time, you must be in the System to change the System.

I agree with you on this one. NOthing demonstrated that more clearly in my state of Missouri than the switch to a caucus. Many people showed up at the caucus to “vote”, but the people who were on the slates were the “worker bees” who have worked very hard in our county. If you want to do the work, you can be part of it and influence the way things go. Rallies are nice, but the grunt work is even more important.

Get involved in your county!
