Baseball-sized hail is tearing the siding off homes in northeast Nebraska, a tornado has touched down in Kansas and forecasters are warning residents across the nation's midsection to brace for "life threatening" storms.
The National Weather Service says a rain-wrapped tornado touched down in southwest Kansas on Saturday afternoon, while at least three possible tornadoes were reported earlier in central Oklahoma.
No injuries were immediately reported. But forecasters are expecting the most dangerous weather later in the day and are warning residents across the region of possible fast-moving tornadoes overnight.
Officials say a large area spanning from Minnesota to Texas could be at risk.
In Nebraska, Boone County Sheriff David Spiegel says large hail also damaged vehicles and shattered windows in and around Petersburg, about 140 miles northwest of Omaha.

I’m using Opera v11.62 and it won’t let me view it. Darnit. I’ll switch over to Firefox and see if that works.

Romney supported violent storms in 1971. I have the video around here somewhere . . .

I got it loud and clear. The super-cell has split in two and another one has formed. All kinds of weather coming to Woodward and surrounding environs. Batten down the hatches (and I don’t mean Orrin)!

Weather Channel is giving TOR-CON indexes up around 8 and 9 for some areas. That usually means deadly tornados are coming.

I think the story was that Romney put Toto on his car in a campaign swing through the Midwest in support of more turbulent weather.

Funny, I thought it was Bush’s fault...in all seriousness, it was the Dims (under Bill Clinton) who tried to close the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, which is responsible for forecasting severe weather outbreaks like the one in progress. It was a Republican by the name of J.C. Watts who saved the center—and countless lives—by keeping the SPC in operation. Remember that the next time you hear a Democrat talk about Republicans trying to “cut” NOAA.

I’m taking your advice. I have my wife up on the roof trying to dismantle the antenna but wind, rain, and hail are making it difficult. Luckily with all the lightning, she doesn’t need the flashlight she dropped.

We are ready. SW MO has had its share of the monster storms..I am praying it misses us. After what happened to Joplin we had an in ground shelter built. My next door neighbor moved 3 miles from me and was killed in the last tornado in Cassville, MO. It was a fluke that the storm went through that particular area...Branson was hit too but thank God noone died

That's dangerous. She could slip and grab onto the antenna and bend it so badly that you lose any reception.

No, he didn’t, he just supported taxpayer-funded abortion, expensive socialized medicine, homosexual marriage, raising taxes and fees including fees on gun owners enormously, etc. Romney was much more successful at implementing a liberal agenda in his jurisdiction than Obama has been.
