The post dispels and provides links and references to the information that debunks some still lingering myths about Newt and some periods of his life, general ignorance about which are constantly being exploited by his political opponents and nemeses, both on the left and the right.
Some FReepers suggested that it be made into a vanity post, and while vanity is not my strong suit, it's an important and relevant subject, so here it is, vanity by "popular" demand.
Link to the original post: Fox Fires Back at Gingrich: 'Bitter' Newt is 'Auditioning for a windfall of a gig at CNN' - FR, post #77, 2012 April 13
Also, Cincinatus' Wife provided a link to a blogger post which I found to have a lot of parallel themes and some additional details, so it may be of interest to readers as well. Nice to see some of this info getting into the blogosphere, maybe - finally! - it will find a wider audience, maybe even wide and receptive enough to change the course of history... Thanks, CW!

WOW! That almost makes Newt look like a conservative.
So are you voting for Mitt?
This is the “by popular demand” vanity post, slightly edited from the other thread.
Thank you all, kindly, for nice comments there. I do not have a lot of time to tend the fort on this thread, but I hope you will do a wonderful job of it if it’s needed.
I don’t care about Newt’s infidelity and marriages. I care about the republican record of Newt. The 1994 wins were not a victory for conservatives, it was a GOP victory. Newt has not been a conservative until this year when he ran for President.
Tells me all I need to know. The fact he was at an NRA conference declaring that the whole world needs the right to bear arms and taking it to the UN is worrisome because it shows Newt sees the UN as influential. He is a CFR guy you know.
I only care about the US and our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. What the rest of the world does is up to them.
I do not acknowledge the UN.
Things happen in marriage, it doesn’t always work out between two people, no matter how wonderful or horrible they might otherwise be.
God has a different take on that. Newt has bigger problems than his women but I’d still vote for him.
Who in the popular community demanded it?
I think you're just preaching to the choir at this point........
Oh God, give me a f'n break!
This vanity reminds me of fans of a losing football team saying “the other team won; but we had the better team”.
Newt has changed dramatically. Here are some FR links about his conversion.

This and the "Who are working for?" and "How much are you getting paid by XYZ to post this? " type of questions are designed to obfuscate, ignore and avoid the substance and/or change the subject / reference from the substance or opinion on the issue to the poster, i.e., it goes into the same category of irrelevant arguments as:
Don’t “hate” Newt...but he doesn’t have the count needed for the job ahead
On April 24th
Vote for the man who fought it
Not for the guy who hrought it
Vote Rick Sanorum and his or Newts delegates
OBMACARE is a 1.76 Trillion $ Hydra
A 9 headed Serpent whose heads must be decapitated all at once with a Firebrand otherwise they grow back and devour everything in sight
by L.J .Keslin / http://www.theusmat.com
While the ex governor of the only state with mandatory state run health insurance (which is in trouble ) was busy buying up state primary elections Of the three GOP candidates remaining opposing him only one man, Sen Rick Santorum, had the courage to take on a what they call a third rail issue...Eugenics...one of the heads on that 9 headed snake called obamacare.. and Santorum had his character asassinated for it... Rick has been pummeled from both sides Called , a women hater ,, a religious nut, and ..a one trick pony. Santorum spends an hour discussing oil and the economy then 10 seconds comenting about pornography but guess what MSM and Santorum detractors will talk about... certainly not ,what’s really in the 1.76 trillion dolllar wonder called Obamacare ,,...!; Population control,.Death panels., Private presidential armys..US paying for birth control pills and abortions and all that goes in those 2400 pages of rules, laws, and regulations and with it. cost, 1.76 trillion and rising ..
Think as you please, this is who Newt is.
I doesn’t matter a damn bit what you post; you hate Gingrich, period. Don’t go making excuses.
“This is the by popular demand vanity post”
THIS is an awesome thread.
Thanks for posting it as such.
Every FReeper should read it.
It is the most honest, complete research I ever read here.
It was not an excuse. And yes, I do not care for Newt, I would vote for Palin, I would vote for Santorum, Allen West or a few others. Not for Newt. What Newt says is always subject to change if he feels like it. Newt is establishment. Just because he is still hanging around doesn’t impress me.
Just the way it is.
After he found out his Washington Insider RINO K Street image wouldn't get him nominated as President, he invented his new "conservative" schtick.
Yes, I think he's scuzzy not only for caving to Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend, but the fact he traded two women in on better models, AND attempts become a CATHOLIC,of all things (I'm not Catholic, but I always thought Orthodox Catholicism had a bit of a problem with divorce).
What would his schtick have been when he became President? After the first time the media criticized him for some milquetoast conservative thing he did, his next move would be the elimination of Take-Home Pay so he could make his Democrat buddies feel better.
1. They well may have a point and be right, especially in multi-team tournaments.
2. If you read the post more carefully, it is really not about who is "better" but mostly to inform many people, who are still ignorant about what was really happening in Newt's life, and who believe and often unwittingly help spread the lies about him, his achievements and his ideas, and what the Tea Party needs to do now and in the future not to be the patsies of GOPe ... and what the GOPe is capable of when their power is threatened.
This is more than just about "winning" or "losing" one game, it's about learning from the game's mistakes, hopefully early enough to correct them while the game is still on and not keep making the same mistakes again later. It's about learning and learning process.
“Newt was also an adopted child, an Army brat, having to move from place to place often, not experiencing or knowing much about love in his youth, and marrying very young and having two children in his 19 years long first marriage, yet at that time he also accomplished getting Master and PhD degrees in history and becoming a college professor. Yet he never plays up his humble and difficult upbringing.”
I would add to this that as a very young teacher, he struggled for years to provide for his family with two small kids and make the ends meet. He never talks about it, but his younger daughter Jackie Gingrich Cushman shared some memories ...
And also , you could add to your links this:
Setting the Record Straight, By Jackie Gingrich Cushman
I would say the other side paid off the umpires, but we had at least six better players who struck out based on calls made by dishonest umpires. Unless we somehow stop Romney, this is going to be a terrible election, followed by (at best) four terrible years for America. Even Bill Clinton was better than a sack of manure. Obama is far worse than that sack of manure, and Romney is at best tied - although he could pay Rove and Nikki Haley to endorse him as better than steer manure.
Not in the race!
I would vote for Santorum
Dropped out of the race!,
Allen West or a few others
Not in the race........
NOW WHAT MORON?
Spare us your ignorance dude, you're contaminating the gene pool........
CutePuppy, you may be as cute as a bug’s ear but you are dead wrong about when Newt started seeing Calista. It is well known in the DC area so it is not as though we can pretend it did not happen when it did happen. Sorry.
You can try blowing smoke up any where you care. Newt is NO conservative.
All one ever needs to see is him on a couch with ms. pelosi.
Look at his record. Conservative? NOt in his spending habit of the American peoples money.
You are a very poor student of history. F for you.
That’s a lot of work there, and deserves a BUMP for good freeping.
Too many people stuck on stupid, stuck on cliche, stuck on hate, stuck on ignorance around here.
Of course, Newt will never waste a second of his life posting things about them on a message board, a notion that no doubt whooshes right over the head of these IQ envious dolts.
I think you are the moron. Newt is not a conservative and has never been a conservative. Go back about a year on FR, genius. You will look like a fool.
“Things happen in marriage, it doesn’t always work out between two people, no matter how wonderful or horrible they might otherwise be.”
That’s being quite charitable with regards to Newt’s indiscretions. I’m sorry but engaging in an affair with a floozy while married with kids is a serious black mark no matter how you slice it. Regardless, Newt won’t win the nomination and will soon be a footnote to history.
I’m equally nauseated by newt and mitt but I would vote for either against obama. Sure newt talks more conservative but he is a shyster just like mitt. I don’t believe him. So I don’t really see the point in arguing about this...especially since newt isn’t going to get the nomination anyway. Mitt wins both the coasts plus the mormon rocky mountain areas. There isn’t enough left over after that to matter. If by some miracle the convention is brokered, they will give the nomination to the man with the most votes. Game over.
I think you're just preaching to the choir at this point........
Well, I don't know how "popular" the requesting "community" is (it's kind of subjective, and a little bit "tongue in cheek" reference) but here is the link, again; hopefully, this is satisfactory enough:
I am a good student. I have read FR for 6 years. You? Probably not.
I formed my opinion aboout Newt right here on FR. Don’t doubt me. Go back a few years.
The difference between you and me is that I am not so desperate that I will pretend that someone who everyone despised a couple years ago around here is now a staunch Constitutional conservative. LOL
People like you only listen to words. Words are easy and cheap. Actions means much more. That is what I go by.
If you have to write that much you know you’re screwed.
Callista’s hair is frozen in that stunning Magneto’s helmet style.
You proved my case. As much as I like FR, to think of it and it’s posters as a suitable universe to learn history is profoundly ignorant. Sounds like you’ve been a student for six years. That puts you decades in my arrears.
Anyone who doesn’t think the 94 election was a victory for conservatism is simply below any kind of intellectual level I care to dally in. Yeah, I know where you are going with it, and it’s again: profoundly ignorant. (a little Newt lingo there for ya....)
No. Thank you, for posting it and amping it up, when things looks bleak for Newt. We need patriot hearts on fire right now - thanks for shining your light!!
6 years later and you’re still a puppy, Puppy?
Thank you, that was the idea.
“He who is without sin, cast the first stone” comes to mind. Look, we have a nation to save. Does anyone have confidence in Romney to do that?
I will not vote for Romney if he is the nominee. However, I will definitely vote for and support Newt if, albeit unlikely at this point, he is the nominee.
On the side, it would have been nice to have had a thread several weeks back titled “To Rick Santorum haters”. Would have been more appropriate.
I’m left trying to figure out why Sarah doesn’t realise that Milt Rominy was the author of the hate Palin campaign. I eamn, if she were to realise that and throw her support and maybe her veep hat in Newt’s ring, we might see a different outcome from what the GOP=e is planning for us!
OK Einstein, who ya gonna vote for in November? And please, don't use that lame statement "anybody but....."
So lets hear it dude!
“I am not so desperate that I will pretend that someone who everyone despised a couple years ago around here is now a staunch Constitutional conservative.”
Couple years ago? 1 year ago he was a rino to many of his current supporters. Truth be told, I hated Santorum for his Toomey back-stab but, like the Newt supporters, got behind the only option left to Romney.
Yes, we are the entire Puppy family...
I am currently tending to the YoungestPuppy and one of the OlderPuppy family members. Some of the friendly neighboring kittens come to visit from time to time and their helping paws are much appreciated.
This is really "don't waste your breath" time. The Santorum dead-enders are beyond redemption, only striking out in hatred with spinal cord-level knee jerk reflexes.
A year from now they will still be foaming at the mouth about his years-ago PSA with Nancy Pelosi.
Unfortunately, very true. Judging by some posts, they either didn't bother to read the post (let alone links / references) or it went right over their heads...
... Or, what's even worse, they are just so comfortable with "what they 'know' they know" that they are unwilling to open their eyes or their minds to anything that might prove uncomfortably different - it might turn out that they were wrong in their opinions or conclusions based on having the wrong information... and they would rather not have to deal with that.
"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble; it's what you know that just ain't so" - Mark Twain
"Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance" - George Bernard Shaw
That is about where I am at. I was never nuts for Santorum, but he at least is a good person and trustworthy.
I was a Bachmann fan first. She is a real conservative.
So are you voting for Mitt? This and the "Who are working for?" and "How much are you getting paid by XYZ to post this? " type of questions are designed to obfuscate, ignore and avoid the substance and/or change the subject / reference from the substance or opinion on the issue to the poster, i.e., it goes into the same category of irrelevant arguments as: As far as the old and tired meme of "excuses" and "whining" by Gingrich goes, if you ask for and are given an explanation of certain facts, you can always label anything you don't like an "excuse" or "whine" to ignore and avoid dealing with the substance of an explanation. That, in itself, is a poor, childish excuse for attempting to "win" the argument the substance of which you are unable to refute but unwilling to accept.
I didn't hear a "no".
