Skip to comments.Bachmann 'Very Seriously Looking Into' Romney Endorsement

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stopped just short of endorsing Mitt Romney on Sunday, saying she was very seriously looking into an endorsement.
I think we're seeing a uniting and a pulling together around our eventual nominee," she said on NBCs Meet the Press. "And I have said that I want my voice to be one of uniting our party, the independents, the mainstream, conservatives, evangelicals, the tea party movement. I want to unite our party.
Bachmann dropped out of the GOP primary race in early January and has yet to endorse any of her former opponents. But with only three candidates left in the race, and Romney the presumptive nominee, Bachmann has little to lose endorsing Romney. And perhaps little to gain as well.
Still, Bachmann offered glowing praise of Romney on Sunday, a man she once derided, along with Newt Gingrich, as an establishment, insider candidate. In debates and elsewhere, she referred to both men collectively as "Newt-Romney."
But on Sunday, Bachmann called Romney "an extremely smart guy," saying that Americans lives will be "far more improved with a proven, smart, successful businessman like Mitt Romney than someone like Barack Obama, who can only blame his predecessor for his current economic poor choices.

[3:00] Michele Bachmann profusely praising Newt in this 2008 townhall introduction
This is real! We love you here. We love you!
I liked Bachmann okay until the debates when she came off like a snarky shrew, and notably avoided snarking towards Romney.
That said, I was a Perry Girl, threw my support to Newt when Perry dropped out, and threw his support to Newt.
With the risk of being trashed (I can take it) I get so sick of seeing MB on tv, almost as if she was a Fox contributor, and I do not even watch Fox very much anymore. Just seems as if she is on whenever I turn the tv on, the lady just gets on my nerves.
Is it time to call her a liberal yet?
Anyone checked campaign contributions she’s received lately?
Newt’s the only one who can pull us out of this mess. I’d like to see him announce who would be his VP. Like West or Palin.
She's a $3 bill.
She didn't even show a liking toward Romney.
Don’t do it Michele!
You mean Newt Romney don’t you Barky??????
$3 bill is too kind!
You are a girl???? I never knew that! :D
That was kind of the problem with all of our candidates this cycle. As soon as you saw them in action their appeal evaporated.
I am not one bit surprised.
I have always seen Bachmann as a backstabbing liar. Well, before she got into the race I thought very highly of her, but it only took a couple of weeks to see her true colors.
Michele Bachmann a RINO?!
Michele Bachmann is ABO, just like Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio and Jim Demint. Pretty sad that she’s labeled a RINO for that. Seems to me Bachmann is living in realville, not some fantasy land that believes Newt can still get the nomination or produce a brokers convention.
She’s a backstabbing liar because she hasn’t endorsed someone who has next to no chance at getting the nomination? Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio formally endorsed Romney. Are they backstabbing liars too?
Just snugglin up enough to get Mitt SuperPAC to pay off campaign debt with OPM? Those selling out for Mittmoney have established what they are, now just haggling over price.
LoL, Oh, Ditter, just because I talk about beer, yard work, and guns on our state board doesn't mean I'm a guy. Hey, when I said on the state board yesterday, I paid $12.62 each for some bottles of beer for the cute-ousity factor..that should've been a clue!
Most people laughed and applauded her guts and cleverness when she called Newt and Mitt, “Newt Romney” as if they were one and the same.
Doesn’t seem quite so gutsy and clever now...
Not only can Newt produce a brokered convention, it's likely if we don't all fall in step behind Mitt. Mitt will fall short of a guaranteed first round nomination so long as Newt stays in it and is treated as a viable candidate. I'll admit that it's like those who want to force Mitt down our throats in the election will finish the job in the second or third round of ballots at the convention, but there is at least a real possibility that they will also recognize the inconvenient truth - no one like Mitt. At that point, all bets are off, and the question is: who should be our nominee. It's worth continuing to support Newt for that chance. The weaker Mitt is in the remaining primaries, the better the chances that he's perceived as too weak for the nomination.
Since Apr 11, 2012
You joined FR 4 days ago to pimp-TROLL for Romney... how very transparent.
Those that call themselves PATRIOTS and CONSERVATIVES, yet stand in support of an abortionist supporting, homosexualist, socialist, mandate loving, constitution trampling liar such as Mitt Romney, ARE NEITHER.
yep. throw her overboard. call her names. consider her a traitor. hate. that is the coin of the realm now, apparently.
Who’s “Rogi”...a Mormon angel? They all had wierd names, such as Moroni (that’s the one on the pillar in SLC with his hand out pointing to the Bank of Utah).
If the others had stayed anti-Romney much of that 60+% block would be out of Mitt's reach.
I agree. Palin's been vetted and a fighter. West is smart and the libs can't pull the race card.
I sent her a few campaign contributions until she started acting like a back-biting bitch during the debates.
Actually, quite the opposite. Newt’s still buried behind Santorum and Paul. Until that changes, he’s not going to be viable. Right now throwing money at Newt is chasing good money after bad.
Newt’s not even going to finish second in any of the upcoming states, and will likely finish 4th in all of them, while Romney will add to his tally.
The last chance to stop Romney has already passed, and the Newt supporters chose to back Newt over Santorum. That’s a pity. 4 states could have been in the Santorum column, including OH and MI, if the Newt supporters had backed Santorum. Possible WI and WA as well, but that opportunity has passed.
The candidates trash each other, then no matter how bad the winner is, they endorse him/her. Why bother with debates since it doesn’t matter to them in the end?
That’s why the Republican Pary has imploded into liberalism. If Romney is chosen, consider that a hydrogen bomb implosion to the max.
I’m starting a “How many posts into the thread before Michelle Bachman is determined to be a minion of Satan?” poll. Five bucks a square.
She was in on being a conservative/Palin shield and vote-splitter for Romney all along. Big disappointment, but she and Rove go way back—insofar as her political career goes way back, that is.
Don't you mean CINO?
Isn't that why you're so disappointed?
I wish Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Newt, Santorum, et al will threaten not to support Romney or vote for him until they see him move further rightward.
And she took herself out in the process.
Things happen that we never expect, so I am grateful that Newt remains standing.
I’m pretty sure Bachmann will endorse Romney. I’m also confident, should Newt not succeed at the Convention, that he will endorse Romney as well.
Wouldn’t it have been nice if Bachmann had endorsed one of the other candidates WAY BACK WHEN, when it mattered and would have helped the conservatives?
whatever it takes to pay off campaign debt and get re-elected. :-\
She has a lot of foster candidates, I reckun. ;-)
I was fairly certain Michelle would endorse Mitt back in November
“I am grateful that Newt remains standing.”
Not just a liberal. She’s an abortionoat socialist don’t ya know.
Won’t do Romney any good. Can only hurt Bachmann.
Bachmann is still in Congress. She wants RNC money and muscle to sustain a long political career.
