When I was 12 years old, I played tennis at a certain public park in the Bronx. One day it got back to me that a black fellow at the courts, whose name I forget, said "Selwyn doesn't like black people." This raised my eyebrows. You see, I had never really thought about the man one way or the other. And what occupied my mind were forehands, backhands, topspin and volleys, not race. So the only thing I could figure was that I was probably in a funk one day and didn't hear and acknowledge a greeting he might have extended.
Whatever the perceived slight, race was a factor. After all, imagine the reaction if he had been white. At worst he might have thought, "Selwyn is a self-absorbed brat," which would have been closer to the truth. Or he might just have concluded that I was having a bad day (I was an aspiring player at the time, but, lamentably, had a lot of bad days). Instead, he saw bad intentions where none existed.

There are certain people in this world who exemplify stupidity.
I work at a very small business. For about a year our office manager was a black lady. One day she came in just infuriated. She’d had a run-in with the city about an issue to do with her yard’s boundary line, and she just automatically assumed they were being difficult because she was black.
That many other people, white, brown and green had similar problems with bureaucracies didn’t matter. The only possible reason, to her mind, for the problem was racism.
But they are the injured party.
I was told by a black man who worked on our ranch that he and all the other kids were taught “the (white) man ain’t gonna let you be anything or do anything, so you might as well just not try”. Sad.
I knew a white woman who was similar. Whenever a bus driver was rude or a salesclerk was funky, if they were black, she’d tell me about it huffily and say it was because she was white.
I tried to tell her, hey, maybe they were just rude, or incompetent. She never wanted to hear it.
It is so difficult to get a chip off of a shoulder. You couldn’t convince her it was anything but racial.
As I posted on another thread... we are finally seeing in the full light of day the ugly truth of black racism.
Like I also said on that thread, it is irony to the point of despair that many in the black community have embraced lynch mob tactics. God have mercy on their souls.
I have known many more, some I consider friend, of whom none of the above exists.
The tragedy is that that country might have been the United States.
During the sixties, the MLK approach was gaining major ground, and as racial animosity dissipated in the glow of the general prosperity, the Left went ballistic.
Racial divide was to be the primary tool of the Left in crippling America, and here this damn King was making black people and white people become friends... which is why the left, not the right, hired a flunkie to assassinate Martin Luther King and blame it on "White America."
It was only after that the Black separatists and other antagonists gained the upper hand and set the black community back about fifty years.

The big secret that will never be discussed by the media or the grievance industry is that the vast majority of every ethnic group just wants to wake up, go to work/school, come home, and live their lives. Far from being close to a race war as many people believe, ordinary people of every ethnic group have too much to lose turning back the clock.
It will end, if there is a white grievance to replace it. But you’ll need a 60’s style race riot to convince them that’s the case.
Depending on how long ago he was a kid, this may not have been all that far from the truth. There was a long period in America when a successful black man was viewed, at best, with suspicion and was often watched for an opportunity to “put him in his place.”
I firmly believe most black people are stuck in the past with regard to how white people view them. I for one would be delighted if we were seeing steady progress towards economic equality for black people.
But the single greatest factor in keeping them from making this progress is this being stuck in the past. It leads to the attitude you mentioned and the corollary that working hard and being polite and dependable is “acting white.” Hard to think of more destructive attitudes to embed in people.
You’ve got it exactly right and I’ve pointed the same thing out many times. It was the New Left red diaper babies who stirred up racial hatred in the 60s and 70s to make sure their Marxist divide-and conquer strategy wasn’t derailed by racial healing. Blacks have been systematically radicalized by the Left with the single aim of politically destabilizing American culture. Every time things show signs of improving the usual bunch of (mostly) white radicals shows up to pick the scabs off old wounds.

While blacks continue to bust up their own neighborhoods.
They will never end because they’re far to lucrative.
