Soldier nailed by Obama Nazis. The Progressive Communist pan Leninists mean business. The soldier is lucky to be alive, unlike Breitbart who died after vowing to tell the truth about Obama.

I agree that the Marine was mistaken about what he was allowed to say and what he wasn’t allowed to say. I don’t think he dishonored himself.

1. He can’t conduct his personal opinions on a government computer.

2. He can’t speak contemptuously of his commander-in-chief (or any commander, actually). Let him say, “Screw Captain Jones!”, his company commander, and see what that gets him.

3. He can’t give the impression he is speaking as a Marine or on behalf of the Marines, any disclaimers notwithstanding. (I think his website was something about Marine tea party, or Marine protest.)

None of the above is dishonorable, in my opinion. In fact, it doesn’t rise to the level of court martial, if you ask me. I think it was non-judicial, letter of reprimand to the official file kind of stuff. And that would have ended his career in that he would have failed promotion, and it would have been far more quiet and dignified of the Marine Corps to have handled it in this manner.

he needed to respect the office (Lord knows there is none among us who respect the man)...

if the commander in chief had ordered him via his commanders to commit war crimes, he would have had a legal precedent to disobey.

other than that, he signed an oath and was duty bound to obey his superiors.

I find this fascination with putting ones life out there for all to see on facebook disquieting at best.

"it would have been far more quiet and dignified of the Marine Corps to have handled it in this manner."

Completely agree: the Marine Corps has been overwhelmed with political correctness and moral cowardice for many years. Remember the unseemly and disgraceful race to promote the "first female three-star"? General Mutter was an incompetent, yet the Corps raced the other services to be first for whatever political capital that bought us. This action against a Sergeant is the latest example of swatting a fly with a sledgehammer, just to make their masters happy and guarantee their security in promotion and plump retirements. The latest Commandant is a smarmy politico and an embarrassment.

We have been caught up in the whole "promote the tall, good-looking guys who never get in trouble" syndrome while ridding ourselves of the characters and troublemakers who built the couragous reputation of the Corps. Chesty wouldn't have lasted through Second Lieutenant in today's Marine Corps.

Absolutely. In fact, over-reaction on minor admin matters during wartime is debiliting to morale in that it lessens respect for the wisdom of higher command.

ridding ourselves of the characters and troublemakers who built the couragous reputation of the Corps

Excellent point. There's a time and a place for the odd, the unexpected, the unique. If all you've got are company men, then all you're going to get is company ideas and answers.

I also want the next president to overturn the injustice done to LTC Lakin.

Can you imagine if - even Romeny - were to casually make the statement in a press conference, "the first week of my administration, I will reinstate all benefits to LTC Lakin and expunge the injustice done to his record." The left would go apoplectic. Mittens wouldn't have to say anything for or against the eligibility issue, but it would instantly be up in front of the public. Arpaio's findings would be front and center. Mittens could just say, I am not discussing the presidents eligibility. It is a decision that each American has to consider when voting in November. :-) I can hope and dream, right?

I actually applaud him for thinking it. I think it’s possible a 2nd term Obama might try to become President for Life. On the other hand Obama, legitimately or not, is CIC and you can’t publicly announce your intention to disobey your superior officers.

Facebook is a lot like obama...assuming a lot of power it doesn't really have; if the members looked at it carefully, they'd probably ditch facebook in droves.

Now we read stories like this, in addition to the stories about potential employers demanding applicants' facebook password and using facebook as a tipping point in the hiring process.

My wife's employer wants her to make their firm a "friend", so that all of their [advertising] posts to her will pop-up on all of her friends' pages. I don't know if that is actually illegal, but it sure sounds like it.

I have had to "hide" posts from some of my friends because they dominate my board with minutia that I could care less about. Some do 20 or 30 posts per day which drives the posts I really would like to see completely off the page.

Facebook is turning into a monster, and I don't do twitter at all. But I still see everytime someone's girlfriend makes them a cake, or sweeps the backyard, or other crap that is meaningless. I have denied "friendship" to several people that I know will totally dominate the wall.

I keep it only to be able to keep up with my grandchildren who live very far away.

Absolutely. Like it or not, he violated not only the rules, but showed insubordination. I may agree with this guy politically, and he is free and should morally disobey any order he feels is unlawful or immorral. However, that doesn’t mean he won’t have to face the consequences of doing so.

Screeding on facebook wsa not bright at all. I don’t see how any military tribunal could rule anything but this in this case. Unless they wanted to throw him in the brig instead.

IIRC they tried him under a section of the UCMJ that is for Officers, but he is only an NCO so I think they are just using him as a scapegoat. He stated that he would not follow orders and then clarified it to state that he would not follow illegal orders. That is a proper statement for an of our service personnel to make.

The military brass is trying to give cover to the POS in the White House and to cover their own butts also.

Article 88 definitely doesn’t apply. Maybe they can stretch Article 89 since the President is the Commander in Chief. I don’t know.

If the Sergeant used a government computer or gave any impression whatsoever that he was speaking as a Marine and not as a citizen, then he was in violation of other provisions that have nothing to do with article 88.

There was no trial, so the UCMJ article is irrelevant.

It was an administrative proceeding.

Yes, that’s the “general article”.

It would only apply if he faced court-martial, which he didn’t. It was an administrative action.

The “ administrative proceeding” is one step in the process to destroy this Marines life. Why it is in the civilian courts before the military has finished with it I do not know. The UCMJ article is relevant because that is what they try him on.

His attorney was on the Andrea Shea King show the other night. Very unfair proceeding. Violated their own rules, gave no time to prepare the case, prevented a “Bird Colonel” from testifying for him, among many other things.
