Romney leads Obama in fisrt national Gallup Poll
The Hill ^ | 4/16/2012 | Jonathon Easily

Posted on 04/16/2012 12:37:34 PM PDT by GlockThe Vote

Romney took 47 percent support from surveyed registered voters, while Obama took 45 in a poll conducted between April 11 and April 15. Romney's edge though is within the poll's three point margin of error.

Independents tipped the scale in favor of Romney, going for the former Massachusetts governor 45 percent to 39.

The Gallup poll backs up a Rasmussen poll from last week that at the time looked like an outlier. The Rasmussen poll showed Obama and Romney tied at 45 percent, but was the first to show such a tight national race after a number of polls in March showed the president stretching his lead to double digits.

If Romney wins there will not be a real 2016 primary, heck we didn’t have one this year. The entire GOP establishment will be on his side from the get-go, the entire “conservative media” too. Any opposition within th party will be treated as traitors.

Sound familiar?

Romney will have 4 years as leader of the party to moderate the GOP and get rid of the conservative elements.

By the time the Obama-Union-Teacher-Media campaign gets done with Romney he won’t win the independent vote and he won’t likely be picking up any conservative votes either.

"Barack Obama won 365 Electoral votes, carried 28 states and won by a margin of 52.9% to John McCain’s 45.7%. McCain won 173 Electoral votes and carried 22 states.....That’s only 7.2% over God awful McCain!....Obama is toast!"

What states do you think Romney can take from Obama?

Why? The economy sucks, the nation is in the toiletm scandals, etc.

Obama won by 5 points in 2008, not 15. he is not as popular as he was in 2008 and the thrill is gone. He will have turnout problems.

If we can keep ourselves from massive infighting, Romney will get at least the McCain % and hopefully pick up an additional 3-5% and win in november and send the obamunist home to wherever the heck he came from.

I've said it several times, Obama will not win.

I don't care how ‘bad’ Romney is, the electorate rightfully views Obama as much worse. I remember a recent poll that suggested that +52% would not vote to reelect Obama under any circumstance. That says a lot. The idiots in here that claim Obama will ‘mop the floor’ with Romney have their heads buried somewhere because this election will be about one thing and one thing only...Obama. For the first time in his political career Obama has a record and his reelection hopes will be 100% tied it. Nowhere for the Kenyan to run or hide.

I agree with the most of the posters above. I have not been a Romney booster but I have stated my plans for voting for him IF he’s the nominee (still voting Newt here in CA). I don’t think I am deluded about Romney being a conservative, I just think he is head and shoulders above Obama in many of the respects cited earlier on this thread.

But given JimRob’s post about what FR is and comments that are being made and etc., I have gotten the opinion that we aren’t to post such comments or we may get banned? Am I wrong?

I respect that this is JimRob’s site and he doesn’t want it made into a Romney-For-President board. That’s his perogative. But it makes me wonder, how are we supposed to tiptoe around the election? It’s the major things on the minds of FReepers for the next several months.

Shall I cheer if Obama’s ahead? Groan if Romney scores a debate point? Or are we all gathering behind a third party candidate?

I think the major meme right now is, for heaven’s sake, support Newt - and I am. I was before Santorum dropped out, even. But the odds are long. If Romney is indeed the (R) candidate, what are we to do? Stay silent? Root for the oppposition?

The best thing Romney can do for this country is to resign from the race.

When the MSM gets done with him, he won’t win anything. His record and his flip flopping and the caricature of him along with the OWS protests that are going to dominate the headlines - will have nobody trusting him.

He is the worst possible candidate. I can already see OWS protests at every campaign event, people holding signs with his own words like “I’m not concerned about the vert poor” and “I like firing people” while they are carrying empty dog carriers ontop of their cars.

The media is going to pound him on these things. Meanwhile the MSM will be reporting that the economy is roaring back, even thought its all bogus. It won’t matter.

Sheeple get their news from the MSM. There will be no MSM being fair and accurate. Even if they are fair and accurate the flip flopping and his leftwing record in Massataxes is going to hurt his turnout.

Good questions, I know what I am doing and it isn't being a lemming and following the freerepublic crowd over the cliff.

I am personally very disappointed in the leadership here that want's us to do just that.

Some say Romney cannot win but I’m not sure. There is great dissatisfaction with Obama and I sense it is akin to what we had in 2000 with the “anybody but Clinton” mindset in place against Gore.

What are the majority of conservative voters and the majority of very conservative voters doing about this political race? Those are the numbers I’m paying the most attention to!

I joined FR after being a multi year lurker because I feel so strongly about Obama having to be defeated. Like you I am aware of JR position on Romney and like you I wonder if we will be permitted to speak our minds as the campaign develops.

If Romney is in fact the nominee, I cannot imagine us all not getting behind him in order to get rid of Obama. Is supporting Romney a bootable offense?

Look at this way - those who voted for McLame are highly likely to vote for Myth vs obama. The isue is whether Myth gets overall 3% more from indes, conservatives, democrats, whoever to get past 50.1% vs what mcCain got which was 47.3%

[[Correct, Mitt is left enough to capture a lot of the dem vote. So what do we gain with Mitt? Well we get a legal citizen not attached to america hating nutjobs. We get someone whose life record is there for all to see, good, bad, ugly, and uglier. Mitt is not a race baiting race hating jack wagon. It will be Mitts first term and Obamas second. Mitt will NOT go against the tide in his first term, a conservative congress will be able to keep him in check. And, he will not abuse executive orders like Obama has, and will do even more so in a second term.]]

Reposted because it was well put-

Romney SUCKS - however, obama SUCKS way worse- just today his asdministration is declarign that news agencies CAN NOT get their news on the economy from any other source but hre government pc- W H A A a a a T???? In other words our dear leader has decided that the only source for info that the news can legally now cite is the government site?

Yep Mitt SUCKSD- However, leavign our dear leader in for another 4 years is goign to be VERY VERY BAD for this coutnry- Obama is cosntantly ‘testing hte waters’ to see how far he can go in violating our rights- and for crying out loud, he even tried to initiate a governemnt website where neighbors could spy o ntheir neighbors and report to the goventrment any ‘anti-obaman’ rhettoric or actions or whatever- Did NOONE thuink that was creepy? did NOONE udnerstand how freakign evil and marxist/nazi that was?

Mitt may be bad,. but he is NOWHERE NEAR as bad as this dear leader in office now is-

I cannot imagine a scenario where Romney could win.

That's ok because all we need is a majority of voters who can imagine a scenario where Romney could win.

[[If Romney is in fact the nominee, I cannot imagine us all not getting behind him in order to get rid of Obama. Is supporting Romney a bootable offense?]]

Accordign to some on FR it is an unforgiveable acto of treason- apaprently allowing the dear leader another 4 years in office is ‘what this country needs’ because it’s ‘what this country deserves’ because hte GOP has moved more to hte center over the years apaprently-

Evidently it would be much better to alloow obama another 4 years to unleash unholy hell on this country- than to vote for the only chace our country has of stopping a far left radical marxxist who’s compeltely out of control, and whom the mainstream media simply will NEVER hold accoutnaqble for eroding our consitutional rights-

I don;t udnerstandi t, but that appears to be the position of some in FR these days
