No Longer Feel Safe on the Metro

I would advise the whiner in this article, Kurtis Hiatt, to use his Constitutional right to bear arms.

Oh, wait, the tyrants in DC have usurped that right for the peasants.

Oh, well, slaves aren't mean to feel "safe" anyway. Get in the cattle car and shut up, Kurtiss, and be thankful the Trayvons don't smack ya with an ice T.

Because I'm carrying a Kimber .45 for which a permit in DC is unobtainable. When I unholster that baby, it will be for very good reason. In the meantime, I avoid trouble.

I salute you. You are obviously a circumspect person of courage. I wish to God all patriots were as willing to defy illegitimate authority as you.

You are probably already familiar with Emily Miller's series of articles in the Washington Times, "Emily Gets Her Gun."

She documents how D.C. has resisted adapting to the Heller decision.

Surprisingly, there is some good news for D.C. gun owners in her most recent article.

Last year I was taking BART from San Francisco to Fremont, but had to get off in Oakland to change trains

The transfer station is 19th Street, is this where you were?

The 12th Street - Oakland City Center station, one stop south, is the one where the aboveground neighborhood contains some unsavory individuals. If you're there during business hours you should be OK if you keep your eyes open. I haven't personally had any incidents there, aboveground or below, but try to be cautious.

He should never have taken his eyes off of the man and had a plan in place.

Excellent, you did well! I was at Stonestown mall in SF, sitting on a bench with my iPad while waiting for my wife to come out of a clothing store. Even though I'm reading on my iPad, I still use my peripheral vision to monitor who is nearby. So I notice a black guy with a hoodie covering his head, nearby watching me. Starts getting closer, stopping, then moving closer. I figured he thought I'm an easy target, old white man. While keeping my attention on the iPad, I pulled my buckknife open, sliding it up alongside my iPad. Then I looked him in the eye and he probably realized he would be hurting bad if he tried anything and he slithered off. Like you said, have a plan to kill everyone you meet, not that you would, but have a plan just in case.
