Waiting on line at post office, corrupt NYPD cop (vanity)
Myself | 4/17/2012

Posted on 04/17/2012 5:40:52 PM PDT by GreaterSwiss

Waited on line at post office to mail ira deposit today. Line was about 40 people long because of taxes. A NYPD cop just skips the line and walks to the counter. As he was walking back I said, "corrupt cop". He said "he's busy". Like none of the private sector people aren't busy. Then as people started questioning him, saying "aren't we busy too" he said I know, "you pay my salary" and laughed.

I grew up in Hooterville but gave up big city life for the slower pace of Bug Tussel.

Thanks,Gabz.

One of my sons has been with the NYPD for 19 years.

The cop hating threads here on FR are just as bad as the one on lib sites.

I don’t hate the cops, but I think this was wrong of the cop to do.

He should not act like he is above the law. He should stand in line like everyone else. It just breeds resentment for him to do that, and it is arrogant of him.

People want to offer him a place, buy him a meal, tell him thanks, give him their parking spot, more power to them. But he should not just take it.

The smartass remark came from him - you pay my salary. They are just punks with badges.

Thank you both.

I know there are bad cops, but they are a very, very small percentage - and my late grandfather, my dad and my kid brother would all be the first to tell anyone that.

I’m the first one to condemn a corrupt cop - but I will not stand silently by when the good ones are being condemned for no bloody reason.

Mears - thank your son for me. Being NYPD is not an easy job - even on the good days!

They are just punks with badges.

I sure hope you never need one of those "punks."

I pay their salary, remember? They come if I call.

I guess you don’t know any of these “punks”.

That cop has contempt for the citizens he is pledged to serve.

Interesting how many cops and bootlickers here think this corruption is acceptable because the guy is a cop. Many cops think they are a superior class and that the regular rules do not apply to them.

Good for you telling him off! He could have done something about it, though.

By the way, it was indeed his break time. Cops are on break at least 95% of the time.

Police Officers put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect the public. . .

Not even listed amongst the top ten most dangerous jobs.

Being a taxi driver is more dangerous than being a cop. The cop was a jerk. I hope the post office mailed his package via russia on a rowboat.

Police Officers put their lives on the line day in and day out to protect the public. . .Personally, I think their pay is extremely low for what they do.

Same as for teachers, if you don't like the pay for a job, don't go into that line of work. Teaching used to be a low-paid but genteel profession, with prestige attached. Now they are not merely money-grubbers, they don't even do their jobs.

And the police also, they were once respected. But that is when they were 'peace officers' and people interested in keeping the peace went into those jobs. Now they are highly paid 'LEOs' and not worth a damn to any self-respecting man.

So excuse me if I can't buy into your argument; Giving more money to vocations serves only to attract the wrong calibre of people to that job.

Why is a cop doing personal business on the job?

So your think it’s acceptable for cops to show disrespect for citizens?
Why should I respect cops who disrespect me? Self centered cops like you are why LEOs are seen as trash.
Lots of people risk their lives to provide vital services, like linemen, without any recognition other than their pay.
Cops are not above public scrutiny. It’s time you learned that.

Maybe they wouldn’t have to deal, with smart-ass remarks if they weren’t always trying to be asses.

You might consider a remedial reading course - I am neither a cop, nor self centered.

Self centered schmucks like you are why some cops have become disrespectful. I don’t approve, but can understand the attitude.

Have a good day and feel free to have the last word.
