So what are the chances of the skyrocketing seismic activity triggering an eruption of the super volcano in Yellowstone. December 2012 anyone?

If there’s stress there will eventually be quake. Better to relieve the stress before it becomes catastrophic.
The frackers ought to charge for the service.

The PhD geologist/ Caltech in this home does not buy this theory. Who did the research, etc? I bet it is the Global Warming, Ozone Hole folks who just want to stop frakking.

Oh boy, here comes the next “exchange” on which credits will be traded to enrich the global Marxists.
Next they will be blaming the increased solar activity on the private sector.

They are out of their fracking minds. They just want to end America as a major economic force.
The left are made up of traitors.

The science is settled. There is now consensus. We must now report to the nearest processing center for re-settlement and re-education in the new hunter-gatherer economy.

I would place the scientific veracity of this claim right on a par with the theory that farting causes Lunar Eclipses!

so replacing gas with water causes quakes, but drilling for oil leaving giant empty caverns does not??? please...

As usual the media has it backwards. The study will say its not the process of hydraulic fracturing, but disposal of frac waste water in deep disposal wells that can cause low level earthquakes.

I wouldn’t think it was completely out of the question. Yet,, every single fracking quake is exremely minor. The places that have had unusual quakes got a few seconds of trivial excitement, a story in the local paper,,and no damage or injuries. These arent exactly pacific rim quakes.
They are totally worth it too in light of all the gas and wealth being created. A wonderful tradeoff.

What’s also funny is how they refer to ‘fracking’ as “controversial”.
Anyone ever notice how nothing is ever “controversial” unless it pisses off a liberal?

The U.S. Geological Survey is set to release its findings Wednesday that a "remarkable" increase of quakes in the U.S. midcontinent since 2001 is "almost certainly" the result of oil and gas production.
