Gingrich on Plan B: 'I'm Quite Happy With Plan A, Frankly' By NBC's Alex Moe

LANCASTER, Penn. – Campaigning in Pennsylvania with one-week left before the state’s primary, Newt Gingrich acknowledged he has no “Plan B” and downplayed one of his top surrogate’s call for him to exit the presidential race.

Asked if he is thinking about what he will do if he does not get the nomination – what his “Plan B” would be – Gingrich brushed it off. "I don't worry about that right now. I'm focused on the nomination,” Gingrich said following remarks at the Lancaster County GOP Dinner here. “I'm quite happy with Plan A, frankly." (snip)

Gingrich plans to move ahead with his campaign despite increasing calls for him to drop out of the race – including from onetime supporter, Herman Cain.

Cain, the onetime presidential candidate who endorsed Gingrich in late January, took to the airwaves Monday morning on a radio show and referenced Romney as the presumptive GOP nominee.

"To Newt Gingrich I would say, 'Speaker Gingrich, with all due respect, let's get on with this, OK?'" Cain said in an interview on WMAL's Mornings “On The Mall.” "I even endorsed Newt Gingrich at one point because I thought he had a shot. Well, not now. He doesn't have a shot."

Go put on some funny underwear and ride a spaceship to Kolob.

All of the imbeciles around here saying that a mormon bishop liar and coward liberal will somehow be better than a deadlocked government led by a lame duck commie don’t make a compelling case at all.

In fact, the cultist as nominee will lose us the House too.

It’s important that Willard Romney be stopped by all means necessary, including getting an independent candidate on the ballot by petition in all of the conservative states to keep the bishop out of the White House.

You can give all the “Win one for the Gipper” speaches you want to, but it doesn’t change the facts.

Imagine you are a baseball fan and your team is 95 games back with 100 games to go. IT AIN’T gonna happen.

Especially when NY and CA are going to go for Romney and Texas will award delegates proportionally.

It Sucks, We all hate it, but the Race is over.

So how am I supposed to help? Vote for Gingrich who has zero chance to win the nomination, or vote for Romney who has no chance of beating Obama in the general election?

Great chart.

But I've read time after time on this forum that given the choice between a true conservative, which your chart indicates and something less the true conservative will always win.

I don't even see that happening in the party that holds the most conservatives.

Screw the Romney-mouthpieces. I’m for Newt all the way to the convention.

Screw the Romney-mouthpieces on here. Last I heard, TX primary was still being held and Mittster ain’t won it yet.

Screw the Romney-mouthpieces.

Try to make a survey among Freepers. Majority would say yes. Is that real? I don’t know. Ask them.

Newt has no organization on the ground anywhere that I can see.

Newt has no campaign to speak of in California. I know this for a fact from direct observation.

How Gingrich can get to 1144 is to believe in black magic.

All Gingrich has to do is keep Romney from getting 1144 and then all bets are off.

If he does that, just the fact that Romney didn't gain the nomination through the normal process destroys all the propaganda that Mitt was inevitable and resets the game.

Peace at any price, is not peace.

You are falling for a walking draft deferral in Romney, whom you know nothing good about, whom the GOPE cram down our throat. Let’s fix that.

Republicans are after 2016, not 2012. We have to stand against them.
It is a turning point year, and the convention is the goal. Banish GOPE.

Cain once endorsed Gingrich. I think the question here is whether there is truly a “realistic” path to Gingrich coming anywhere close to clinching the nomination?

Point is to deny Romney 1,144 and let a floor fight at the convention decide. Romney only needs to lose about 55% of the upcoming 19 states' delegates to be in that position.

And Reagan was a TRUE conservative

Newt's at least as conservative as Reagan, probably moreso.
