Tea Party Warms To Romney
Talking Points Memo ^ | 4/18/12 | Kyle Leighton

Posted on 04/18/2012 5:02:41 AM PDT by Haiku Guy

One chunk of the Republican electorate has proved an incredibly fickle voting bloc, denying party unity while the nominating process dragged on. It’s the same group of conservative voters that went from candidate to candidate, looking for an alternative to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Now, out of options, it seems that those who identify themselves as tea party supporters are finally coming home to the presumptive nominee.

Of course, that won't stop them from blaming us when he loses.

Yep...the only way Obama gets back into office is if conservatives decide to take their vote and stay home. No matter how much you hate Romney he is the one left standing and only an idiot would stay home and allow zero back into office.

You are underestimating the anti-obama sentiment out there.

If that's the case, then why bother convincing the "fringe" conservative element here at FR. Sounds like Romney has this wrapped up and needs to start measuring the drapes.

FALL BALLOT

No. We still have a choice and Obomney isn't one of them. And should obomney be the nominee we still have a choice. We can still choose to not vote for obomney and still vote for all those good conservatives running for the House and Senate. America doesn't want your communist crap or dictators running our nation.

You obomney shills are so narrow-minded and predictable.

There are probably more freepers than you know who will happily vote for Romney. Some have been tombstoned and others are afraid that they will be if they say anything. Sad. I certainly like him more than I did McCain and I did vote for McCain. Actually, I voted for Sarah for VP.

Newt is still in the race and is far better than Romney.

Not even Newt believes he has a chance. He is just going through the motions. If Newt was fighting, I would say "fight". But Newt has given up.

Your right. What you’ll be drinking is 4 years of an Obozo without a need to campaign for a next term. You will be drinking (for sure) 2 liberal activist Supreme Court appointees ...

Why are you shilling for romney when the forum owner has made it explicitly clear that his resources on this forum are not to be used to support the campaign of the liberal liar and worthless piece of crap romney? Are you really this arrogant? How inconsiderate of you. Shame on you.

A vote for Romney (or whoever) is a vote against Communism.

Second that. I don't like Romney but he is better than the alternative. I think he will actually be good for the economy and if we can take the senate back and extend our majority in the house it is unlikely that our pet issues will suffer much while he is in office. We may not make much forward progress, but at least we should have a country left to build.

zero will take us down with another term...we can't afford to let him win this election.

Not trying to convince the "fringe" of anything. I fully understand that Romney is no conservative and that he is a liar like most politicians. I even understand sticking with Newt even though he came in dead last in some of the recent states and doesn't have a shot at the upcoming ones. What I don't understand is refusing to vote for Romney vs. the kenyan. That, I will never understand. We have more of a chance of saving America with Romney. Do you really think he's going to govern as a communist with all of the non-freeper conservative support he's getting?

FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!

You can thank the GOP-e for that reality. THEY chose (along with Obama) to run Romney as the nominee and sabotage and cut asunder every conservative in the race. THEY intended Obama to have another 4 years by running Romney. I REFUSE responsibility for what the Ruling Class chose for all you dupes to be suckered into choosing to give you the illusion of choice.

I will not vote if that is my choice. If someone puts a gun to my head and forces me, I’ll vote for obama.

Romney would do as much damage to the conservative movement and the country as Obama has done to the liberal movement and the democrats. Not interested. Better the devil I know.

You are undedrestimating the anti-obama sentiment out there.

The anti-Obama sentiment won't overcome the lack of enthusiam for Romney. He's getting killed in polls here in VA, a state that seemed well on the way to political wellness before that running hot mess of a GOP primary season poisoned the well. I commute 38 miles each way to and from work and have yet to see a single Romney bumper sticker.

Obama's hordes are setting up offices and registering voters in every major city in the state. Not so with Romney. But again... it's easy to forget, victory in the Presidential race never was the objective anyway for the GOP-e. Their emphasis lies with holding onto the House and maybe getting close to a bare majority in the Senate.

>>But Newt has given up.<<

No, Newt has not given up. Newt is still out there working to get to the convention with hopes of a brokered convention. If the lily livered weaklings who call themselves conservative would support him rather than buckle under to the GOPe things would begin to change.

I am not shilling for Romney. I don’t like the guy any more than you do.

But I will vote for the Republican nominee against Obama. Unfortunately, that nominee will be Mitt Romney.

But if you think JimRob would object, I’ll give him the chance, and squeeze the (ABUSE) Button on myself.

(Even though the nuns always said that sort of thing would make you go blind)

“I’ll vote for obama.”

Wow...seriously?

With apologies to Doug from Upland, some reworked Beatles:

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the GOP-e
You tell me that it’s evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the Rino-e
But when you talk about supporting Obama
Don’t you know that you can count me out

It's not that I've "warmed" to Romney but that I've "cooled" to Osama Obama...down to about absolute zero.

First of all, allow me to establish my Free Republic bona fides by prefacing my remarks with the obligatory anti-Romney rant: "Boo, hiss. Boo, hiss. Bad on Romney for doing well in the polls against the socialist un-American Obama. Shame on Republicans for supporting him. Boo, hiss. Boo, hiss."

Ok, now that I have that out of my system, I think that this is the year that all us have must get out to vote regardless of how we feel about the presidential candidates. We must build on the 2010 mid-term Tea Party victories by increasing our majority in the House and taking over the senate. Even if you must leave the presidential portion of the ballot blank or vote third party for that particular race.

The Ruling Class (GOP-e) made that decision for the country by running Romney and working to destroy Conservatives.

I refuse to drink their forcefed poison on the tray that is nothing but an illusion of choice in this election. I'm calling them out in their complicity to share in Obama's dictatorship and refuse to play by their rules and vote for the candidate both they AND OBAMA chose to be the nominee.
