A Forestville teenager pleaded guilty Tuesday to fatally stabbing a 92-year-old neighbor who had acted like a grandmother to him and then making off with her credit card and cash last summer, authorities said.
William Fitts, 16, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, first-degree burglary and theft in the killing in August of Thelma Steele, authorities said.
Prosecutors said that Fitts stabbed Steele several times with a pocketknife after the two argued about family issues and that he then left her for dead on the couch in her home. Her body was not discovered for several days, after Fitts’s family became concerned that mail was piling up at their elderly neighbor’s house.
The crime shocked the neighborhood near Forestville and District Heights where Fitts and Steele lived. Family members on both sides said the two were close. Steele, they said, watched Fitts grow up from the window of her home on East Avenue and often bought him toys and gadgets for Christmas and his birthday.
For his part, Fitts would often stop by Steele’s house with fruit baskets, cookies and tea, family members said.
But one day in August, prosecutors said, Fitts stabbed Steele several times with a pocketknife. He told detectives that the two had argued about family issues and that he returned sometime later to take Steele’s purse, cash and credit card.

How many people would ignore the funeral of the person who raised them, so they could continue on the ‘Campaign trail’? I submit that most people would take time off from the campaign trail to attend a family member’s death. But, again, look how well Obama takes care of his illegal alien Aunt and Uncle, and his poverty-stricken brother.
Yes, if Obama had a son; this man would fit the bill in every physical and moral trait that counts.

Just think about how stupid most criminals are—they plot, scheme and do their dirty deeds lusting for greedy gains yet they give little consideration that most crimes get caught and then all their greedy little diabolical plans for happiness go kaput and they wind up in the slammer or maybe dead-—and unrepentant ones go to hell forever. Now that’s stupid as can be!
You don't go nearly far enough. The Scriptures don't say just "some people" are born that way (depraved). The Scriptures clearly teach that every person is born that way. Deprived, meaning deprived of Sanctifying Grace and headed toward ruin.

Seriously, why have we outlawed hanging?
When we did, it was because several federal judges felt queasy about hanging, and the death penalty in general. They just plain didn’t like it. So they decreed it could not be done.
Weirdly enough, only New Hampshire and Washington State have the *option* for hanging, if an inmate *requests* it, though they primarily use lethal injection.
It’s probably time that we brought back hanging as a means of execution.
And while we’re at it, I think it *might* be a good idea that if an inmate on death row is psychologically examined and determined to be of “sound mind” and normal or better IQ (90+), that they are “given the option” to choose “expedited hanging”, that *takes away* the right of third parties (other than their attorneys), to put forth appeals “on their behalf”.
This could be though of as, “Yes I killed (him/her/them). Hang me now and be done with it!”
Of course, as I said, this could *only* be done after a jury has both found them guilty, and issued a death penalty.
Surprisingly, a large number of death row convicts would vie for this option, as preferential to prison for a decade or two of appeals before execution.
