Baby With Six Legs Born In Pakistan Apr 18, 2012 ISLAMABAD: A baby born in Pakistan's Sindh province has six legs, with a doctor assessing that the removal of the parasitic limbs could be a "serious and time-consuming medical exercise".

The baby boy was born with extra limbs in Sukkur. He was on Monday shifted to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) in Karachi.

NICH director Jamal Raza said the infant has a parasitic twin.

"One of the twins is living, while the other has become parasitic. The infant is all right and has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the NICH, but the removal of the parasitic limbs could be a serious and time-consuming medical exercise including both inner and cosmetic surgeries," Dawn quoted Raza as saying.

A team of five surgeons will look into this case.

The baby's father, Imran Ali Sheikh, 31, is an X-ray technician who married Afshan, 27, about five years back.

The baby is their first child.

"I want the doctors to save my son's life," he pleaded.

How many generations of cousins have married in this family?

This is a HUGE problem among tribal and/or islamic people.

I wouldn't be surprised if the couple aren't first cousins. I've read about the high number of deformities and wondered WHY...well, they marry within their tribe/clan to keep the money and land in the family... and pay the price.
Pakistanis are Muslims, but their tribal ties precede even their faith.

Goes back to Mohammed. Seventy generations, more? It’s especially pervasive in Sunni countries, with well over half of all marriages between first cousins or even between uncles and nieces.

I don’t know about all that, but if we ever have an ass-kicking competition, I want this guy on my team.

This is a HUGE problem among tribal and/or islamic people.

The Farsis, in southwest India, also have a HUGE problem. The Farsis allow ALL marriages except mother and son. Yep, brother-sister, aunt-nephew, father-daughter...ugh, and so on.
Zuben Mehta, a world class and world famous musician and concert master, is a Farsi and was asked about the horrible inbreeding in these Farsis in India. The Farsis were thrown out of their native Persia because the Persians had become Muslim and Islam deplored the inbreeding.
Mehta admitted that it was true. The inbreeding created so many mental and physical problems...but, occasionally it produced a genius...like ME, he said. True story.

The Pakistanis have the inbreeding because of their CULTURE, not because of Islam. Their culture is older and more important even than their faith.
Both cultures KNOW how stupid dangerous it is to inbreed, but they still do it. Dumb.

Yea, my family had some inbreeding a few generations up. You certainly got freaks out of it, you also got heart defects that passed down, and you also got absolute geniuses (above my generation, that is).

SIX legs? If 2 legs were for surviving child, 2 for the parasitic twin...then how does the third set of legs come into the picture? Parasitic triplets?

Besides the heart problems, I saw EYE problems with too much inbreeding.
The royal family of Saudi Arabia is TOTALLY inbred and will keep it that way, I'm sure. But, you can see the inbreeding in them with their EYE problems: one eye is pointing northeast, the other one is pointing southwest, straight or to the nose...all very obvious. I saw it on television of course, never in person. It IS that obvious, even on the tube.
