Chilling video has surfaced of the moment a Texas cop responding to an emergency call at the wrong address shot and killed a man's beloved dog.

The officer’s police cruiser dashboard camera captured the event, which happens out of view.

WATCH POLICE DASH CAM VIDEO BELOW

Austin cop Thomas Griffin is heard shouting "Get your dog!" barely a second before firing a single fatal shot at Michael Paxton's Blue Heeler, Cisco, on Saturday afternoon.

"What are you doing? What did you shoot my dog for," Paxton is heared yelling hysterically. "I live here!"

"Oh my God, I can't believe you just killed my dog," he says. "I need to get him to the vet. What are you doing here?"

Griffin explains to Paxton he's been called about a disturbance. However, as it turned out, he was at the wrong house.

These days about 40% of LEO’s have done one or more cycles of steroids.

I think if a LEO tests positive, he should automatically lose his badge.

With pro baseball players (whose job almost never involves life or death decisions) currently if they lie about such things they empanel grand juries, and it’s national news and the kleig light parade.

Why not with folks carrying guns and shotguns?

The frequency of these events are disturbing.

Cops should either have to post some kind of dog-shoot bond 2b forfeited if it happens egregiously, or alternately the victim should have the right to shoot the dog of the officer.

In front of him.

This has been out of control for over 10 years, why? Cuz currently the city (the citizens) pay for it.

Let’s say my speeding tickets were automatically paid by the CITY —how many cops think I’d soon learn to SLOW DOWN..?

Another maniac cop.
I’ve put locks on my gates after the lawn care guy left one open and my bulldog got out.
I don’t want to shoot a cop.

Honest LEO’s who are Freepers need to comment on the truth that common current police doctrine is to shoot any dog that is slightly aggressive to appropriately terrorize the civilians. This seems plausible and police are certainly a lot more aggressive in general than during the leftist riot time of the 60’s.

There's a reason why he was there. A mistake. The LEO made a mistake and it cost the dog his life. Why did he draw on the man (as admitted in the recording) in the first place? I train dogs with a K9 officer and understand the circumstances they have to deal with but this is inexcusable. The worst part is the lies from the LEO on tape. I hope this guy sues the department and the officer finds a new job where his poor judgment will not result in the loss of more life.

Talks like a police state.

Shoots like a police state.

It's for the good of all. /xs

What a freakishly mean, uncalled-for comment! That was not an "ugly" dog. His sweet, intelligent eyes were clear in both pictures. He was plainly a good boy. What?! you don't like the coloring of his fur? Man, I really hope that you are under 30-years-old. At least that would explain a thing or two.

So many people in this world make me not surprised at all that "Obama" is president of the United States.

For police like this, I would not mind seeing the homeowner firing back at the officer for illegally shooting his dog. Seriously. If the cop os stupid enough to get the wrong house and shoot the dog at the wrong house he is stupid enough to shoot a person at the wrong house. Self-freaking defense against a dumb-ass rogue cop.

It looked as though the officer had drawn his gun right before he left the frame.

What I don’t understand is, if they are afraid of a dog running at them, why don’t they use their pepper spray? I’ve had to use it on charging dogs, and it stops them in their tracks.

There will come at time when a cop goes to the wrong address, or there is a setup where a dog is used as bait. The cop will shoot the dog as standard operating procedure and then will be gunned down after shooting the dog — for no other reason than to send a message to LEOs that they could die for killing dogs as SOP. This will happen and LEOs will be aghast that the scum-sucking civilian slime have had enough of their terrorist tactics to strike back. Then the cop vs. civilians war will loom large.

that’s ridiculous. No one is advocating violence or revenge on LEOs. They put their lives on the line every day, and just like rednecks or people with “hoodies” one should not be classified by category. That is the definition of discrimination.

This was wrong, and the officer should lose his job. Game over. Don’t generalize and classify cops due to the actions of one officer. Policies should be changed and the victim should be compensated for his loss. Tragic but hardly systemic.

LEOs are a good breed. They do a job most of us can’t do, and get paid less for it. Don’t convict the institution, just the perp.
