The bus was displayed and then stored here in Montgomery, AL for many years. The bus was then sold to the museum that now has it.
We have millions of things to nitpick, but the fact is this is the same bus Rosa Parks rode in.

The Communists also helped stage rock and roll riots in the 1950s in Germany.

The bus was up for auction sometime within the last 10 years and was in horrible shape (at least judging by some of the photos).
When was the first public display of the bus anywhere?
Seems a more modern tourist attraction.
Let me see if I can find some references. I want to say the articles that came out when it was auctioned stated it had been displayed somewhere here in Alabama in the late 60’s (IIRC).
And yes, the bus was in absolutely horrible shape when it was auctioned. It had been stored in the back of a warehouse or barn or something for almost 30 years. Again, IIRC.

The bus was not on display in the 60’s it was actually still in service in Montgomery. But it was always identified as the Rosa Parks bus and was identified as such when it was sold.
The bus was subsequently stored in a field and used as a storage ‘shed’ (may be where I got the barn/warehouse thought).
when it went up to auction it was confirmed by it’s serial number and bus number to be a Montgomery City Bus in service in 1955, and A scrapbook from the late 50’s time period had notes in it identifying bus #2857 as the bus Rosa Parks rode in.
