John McCain took a swipe at President Obama on Twitter Thursday afternoon, referencing a story about Obama eating dog meat as a child.
McCain posted a picture from November 2010 of his son Jimmy's bulldog, Apollo, on Twitter, with the following quip:
"Good pic of my son Jimmy's bulldog, Apollo - I'm sorry Mr. President, he's not on the menu!"

I think the GOP is overplaying its hand a bit on this one. He ate dog - everyone knows it now. No ground to be gained. Just leave it there.
If McCain would have ridiculed O like that in ‘08, instead of just ripping his GOP opponents, perhaps he would be POTUS.
NOW McCain says something useful..where the hell was this guy in 2008, too busy kissing Obama’s ass
Nothing says “American born & bred” like eating a dog...
“take me out to the ball-game...”
I disagree. This is not your typical liberal phony moralistic outrage that the Dems parade over and over until people are sick of it. We are laughing at and mocking the sorry excuse of a President. It is hard to overdo that.
As absurd as the whole dog issue is, at least somebody finally hit back. Granted, it’s four years too late for McCain. If Romney is going to be the guy, he’d better be ready to hit back early, often, and below the belt. Every time he’s asked about the dog, his surrogates need to say “we didn’t eat the dog like Obama did”. Every time “Mormon” comes up, they need to be ready with Reverend Wright’s latest and greatest. Every single time, without hesitation, while the candidate himself focuses on the issues. We’ll see if they know how to play this game.
Obama says that “unlike some people, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.” However, he says nothing about a golden retriever...
Yes because we all know that Democrats/liberals/progressives never keep things like this going.
I’m tired of playing nice while they grind our noses in the dirt. The way to win is to play by the rules they play by. Being nice isn’t any good anymore.
I’m going to fight fire with fire. Keep up the battle as there is no winning in retreat.
Do you not know the back story - and how it was the Obama team and Axelrod that brought this back up? Apparently not.
Any time they ask a Mormon question, Romney should simply say to the Drive-By: “Interesting question, what was Democrat Harry Ried’s response to that question?”
As much as I enjoy dumping on McCain, Obama’s the one who authorized the dog attack on Romney without bothering to check his own autobiography. Another swift move from Barry the Sooooooper Genius.
I agree...Romney should compare himself to Harry Reid at every possible opportunity...LOL
Every one knows he ate larrysinclair and did crack cocaine but do they care?
I’ll have the Fettuccine al Fido...
Respectfully disagree. The story is not about Obama eating dog, but rather about the media and the fact that we are only just discussing this now in 2012 after he has been POTUS for three years. News media has discussed Romney’s dog-on-roof story since at least 2007. It resurfaced again in Jan 2012 when Axelrod tweeted about it. Since that time, the story has circulated in print, broadcast, and social media...It was brought up again this week by Diane Sawyer.
Jim Treacher at DailyCaller this week unearthed the nugget that Obama wrote about eating dog in “Dreams From My Father,” written in 1995. That nugget was hiding in plain sight but never discussed in the media. Why not? If not during 2008 campaign, why not when the Obama family acquired Bo, the family dog.
Liberal media, that’s why. That’s the real story here, and that’s the direction toward which the convo on our end ought to turn.
It's all just a part of the political propaganda game.
The left is furiously at work trying to come up with some way to spin the mentioning of Obama's eating of dog meat as racist.
Until they manage to come up with something that sways their focus group, this is a good response for the Romney camp to use to rebut the BS "kennel on the roof" attack.
LOL... that’s a good one.
I’m with you. This is the Great White Whale we have all been waiting for. This dog eating thing is going to stick. It’s simple and makes the point that others have tried on other issues, that Obama is not the mainstream. This is better than 10 birth certificates and 5 Rev Wrights. People get this without fear of being called a racist. Even he’s own people have to cringe on this one.
Remember Michael Vick. Vick could have gunned down 6 people and not got the reaction he got for killing dogs. That’s why this one is going to stick. Better yet, the information comes from his own mouth. He can’t use the Daryl Strawberry “ I was misquoted in my autobiography” excuse.
