OVERNIGHT HEALTH: More retiring Dems pile on Obama for healthcare focus
By Sam Baker and Julian Pecquet - 04/19/12 06:57 PM ET
Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) isnt the only retiring House Democrat who thinks the White House made a big mistake by pursuing healthcare reform. In interviews with The Hill on Thursday, several more Democrats piled on, saying Obama hurt Democrats electoral chances.
I think we would all have been better off President Obama politically, Democrats in Congress politically, and the nation would have been better off if we had dealt first with the financial system and the other related economic issues and then come back to healthcare, said Rep. Brad Miller (D-N.C.), who is retiring at the end of this Congress.
Miller voted for the healthcare bill as did Frank and Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), who reopened the inter-party dispute earlier this week.
Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-Calif.) also criticized his partys handling of the issue, saying the bill should have been done in digestible pieces that the American public could understand and that we could implement.
Democrats could have voted Obamacare down but they didn’t. Now they will pay for it. A bunch of fools.
You can’t send a bunch of politicians from the same party behind closed doors—with assorted lawyers and lobbyists—with the task of reforming something as important and that affects as many people as does healthcare.
Uhm....Barney, you voted for it. The time to complain and do something about it was then, the time to stand up against Obama was then. Now you just look like a pathetic whining idiot. But I guess you are used to that.
Woo Pig Sooie, slaughter time
Even if the Democrats knew then what they know now they still would have voted for it. They really don’t care. All they care about is losing their cushy jobs and bennies.
yes but when the shtf the repubs will be in power and again, the dems and the media will say it is all be their fault.
And you know how many idiots we have in the country that believe that crap.
