SANFORD, Fla. - The family of Trayvon Martin will sit in the same courtroom on Friday as George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed their son, for the first time.

Benjamin Crump said the Martin family is attending the hearing at the request of special prosecutor Angela Corey. Crump said the family is bracing themselves to be the same room with Zimmerman and will be hoping he doesn't get bond.

Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, said Zimmerman would like to meet with the Martin family.

"There's no reason not to have a conversation," O'Mara said Thursday. "It should be personal, it should be private."

Crump said the Martin family has considered Zimmerman's proposals to meet, but have said no.

"The meeting is not appropriate right now," Crump said. "We think that it's self-serving right now to say 'I want to apologize the day before my bond hearing.'"

The 90 year old war veteran husband was beaten and his jaw broken. He was shot in the face numerous times with a BB gun and sent to the hospital in critical condition.

The 85 year old partially blind wife was RAPED and then BEATEN TO DEATH.

Can you just imagine the pain, the humiliation, the horror that dear old lady experienced being gang raped by that pack of feral animals?

And can you imagine the pain, the horror of that dear old husband having to witness this?

There’s a lot more involved here than a home invasion and robbery.

I have prayed for Zimmerman. I don’t usually petition God for specifics since I know that He knows what is best and I don’t, His plans are eternal and I am a tiny soul.

But I have prayed that He please protect George Zimmerman. From his photo and what I have read he seems like a very good man. He is being so wronged by evil people that it is causing many of us great pain in our hearts.

The victim was walking home, while talking on the phone with his girlfriend. At what point of the confrontation did Zimmerman EVER announce to that young man that he was a neighborhood watch captain? My guess is NEVER.

Go ahead and tell your teens that they should not be afraid of some stranger watching them from vehicle. And if that stranger gets out and follows them in the dark......? Tell them not to worry. It might just be an armed and frustrated hot-head who thinks he has the same authority as a real LEO and some has some other small 'issues in his past' which might interfere with their "Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness.”

Just talked to a local sheriff and he said at a minimum, had Trayvon Martin lived, he would have been charged with aggravated assault which would have probably been elevated to aggravated battery because using the concrete sidewalk as a weapon would count in this case because repeated and intentional blows were used.
