I read the headline and figured a male teacher got caught with a female student after his vasectomy.
What was he not thinking!? Jail time but not 60 years.
Felony charges for a “foolish” teacher? This guy has a screw loose and should never return to any role as an educator. I mean, what if he felt they hadn’t learned their lesson last time using blanks? Public education is adrift and the curriculum so padded with irrelevance that an idiot like this can pass as a teacher.
The guy’s lucky that he’s able to even face charges. I have a feeling that, after the initial shock and fear wore off, more than one of this weirdo’s students would have liked to give him a lesson on the error of his ways, so to speak.
I’ve got mixed feelings on punishment. Mostly because I’m not sure what’s going on inside this guy’s noggin. Lining your students up in the classroom and re-enacting the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre isn’t the sort of thing one would normally associate with a stable person. If this guy’s off his nut, which is certainly possible, he needs to be locked up before he loads something stronger than blanks. If, however, the guy is just criminally stupid and has a clean record to this point, maybe a plea agreement with the prosecutor is in order. In either case, this guy should never be allowed in a classroom again.
WHAT AN IDIOT!
Someone better get their attention and teach them to count.
I’m no gun expert, but I was taught that one never points the barrel at anything, unless one plans to destroy that thing. Doesn’t matter whether the gun is loaded, unloaded, or shooting blanks. Assume that the weapon ‘could’ go off at anytime, so always be sure where you are pointing it.
Learned that in Boy Scouts, and from shooting the tip of my finger with a bee-bee pistol. The lesson was worth the pain.
Besides, don’t blanks have a paper wad that gets blown out at high speed?
Here’s a humorous and similar situation involving a ‘professional’.

Times have changed. I was my science teacher’s favorite (I like science and the outdoors, hunting, fishing, etc. - just like him).
He pulled me aside before class one day when we were doing biology. I agreed to his plan. We were to take our pulse while resting, walking, etc. After about the second time of doing it at rest I started staring out the window, had my feet up on a desk. He asked me why I wasn’t taking my pulse. I mouthed off a bit to him about “this is stupid”. When I mouthed off a second time he sent me out into the hall, where I mouthed off again and he hit the lockers like he was banging me against them.
It escalated from there, he stomped back into the class room, grabbed a gun out of his desk and exclaimed to the class “I’ll take care of him” and then fired a blank into the ground.
Then we BOTH walked in and he said “Okay - everybody take your pulse NOW!”
Well, all except the girl than ran past us as she saw the gun or heard the shot to get the principal.
Nobody got in trouble. Stupid I suppose - but we ALL did a lot of stupid (and fun!) things back then without having to worry about stuff.
12 students and none of them took action against the teacher. The lesson to be learned by these students is that you don’t stand about and meekly watch your peers get shot at.
1 - You don’t know the gun is shooting blanks.
2 - You don’t stand around awaiting your turn.
Terrible thing. Yet, as a former high school teacher, there were those days.....

Shop teachers are weird people.
Wow. I just can’t believe teachers now a days. I mean be for 2nd Amendment of course, but this was just stupid.

FOOLISH??? What a silly choice of a word. Sick, Disgusting, and a MENACE TO SOCIETY is what they SHOULD have said. I’m very happy to read he’s facing 12 felonies. And, the reporter’s choice of the word “stunt” is just as bad. They (journalists) go crazy over possible racism and fan the flames of discontent, but a teacher lining up a group of students, and firing a gun at them is a “stunt”?
UGH... can’t even think of the proper words myself, but they wouldn’t be benign words like “foolish”, or a “stunt”.
Let’s put it this way, if a police officer had happened upon the scene that teacher would be dead right now (or at least in the hospital with a bullet wound). This article is all kinds of disturbing in the way it’s described by the author who clearly doesn’t see the graveness of this act.

In before the public school defenders.
