NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France was a guest on MSNBC on Thursday to talk about the sport's green initiatives in advance of Earth Day.
France was asked several questions about NASCAR's environmental push by anchor Thomas Roberts, who apparently thinks race cars are actually fighter jets.
"The obvious draw for NASCAR is the speed," Roberts said to France. "Cars going up to about 500 mph, right?"

Living in that little tiny bubble with a controlled stream of information.
Or the semiautomatic revolver.
Sonic booms aren’t a problem because NASCAR requires the use of restrictor plates. They keep the cars at sub-Mach speeds.
so what your are saying is that some of the universities are going against the rotation of the Earth...................
That’s why the race would only take an hour if they didn’t stop the cars for commercial breaks.
Well, hells bells, factor in the speed of earth’s orbit too.
Yes, I am very disappointed that they limit the speed here in Indy at the Brickyard 400 MPH.:)
NASCAR caved in to JJ years ago and paid him off to leave them alone and he shut up about them. They run a little diversity program and it keeps JJ away. Thats when I saw them for who they are and lost interest. NASCAR is PC big time, the organization, not the fans.
But that limit only applies to spectators enroute to the Brickyard and within designated parking lots ...
I made a wrong turn traveling from Texas to Michigan and ended up in downtown Indianapolis on the day of the Indy 500. So I'm somewhat prejudiced about drivers in Indianapolis ...
Fire away, Newt. Wow!
Not since the restrictor plates. 475, tops.
I’m actually kind of surprised that an msnbc anchor knew that there are cars in NASCAR.
From every liberal’s rectum comes a never ending supply of potential MSNBC anchors, producers and managers. Must be the veggies.
And don't forget that Talledega is a tri-oval...gonna need some serious match to sort that out!
Lets not forget each car also drags a minority behind them
