URGENT: A Florida judge said George Zimmerman can be released on $150,000 bail as he awaits trial for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester set several conditions Friday for Zimmerman's release. He cannot have any firearms, drink alcohol or use drugs and must observe a curfew. The judge said details need to be worked out between Zimmerman's attorney and law enforcement, and that Zimmerman will not be released Friday.
Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the 17-year-old Martin's death during a February confrontation in a Sanford, Fla., gated community. He is claiming self-defense.
The bail for Zimmerman was announced Friday shortly after he took the witness stand, telling the parents of Martin, "I am sorry for the loss of your son," but standing by his claim that he killed the teen in self-defense.
Zimmerman told Martin's parents, who were present in the courtroom, that he did not know that Martin was 17 and that he was unarmed during their February confrontation in a central Florida neighborhood.
"I did not know how old he was," Zimmerman said. "I thought he was a little younger than I am. I did not know if he was armed or not."

What? He can’t even have a beer?
It’ll be fun to watch the MSM newslime try to continue their ‘white man guns down lasck child’ narrative after everyone gets a good look at the unadorned image of Mr Zimmerman.

lasck is polish for black

No firearms. Not allowed to defend himself again even though there is a wanted dead-or-alive bounty on his head.
So they've got him convicted already. He isn't being treated like a free man. He's being treated like a convict on release.
Rioting to start in 3...2...1...
If I had the money, I’d contribute to his bail. His parents have to put up their house for his bail. This whole thing stinks.
And what’s with the prosecutor describing Martin as some innocent kid attacked while walking home? Nothing in this case has been proven.
Sounds to me like the fix is in.
Huh? What relevance does the release of a photo have to do with the timing of this hearing? Makes it sound like the Media is driving the legal process even more than it already is.
Hope he has security.
Is it legal for the court to not allow a citizen to defend their own life with a firearm if they have been charged with murder while out on bail?
Anyone have a link to that photo?
At least the reporter in the video did mention him getting his head repeatedly banged on the pavement.
I know this is Fox News. I wonder if the rest of the scum-bag media repeats that fact.
How long before somebody in the law enforcement food chain releases the GPS coordinates on this guy? Seems when passions run high that confidential information has a way of leaking.
My first thought was the judge recognizes a low probability of conviction?
Can any legal eagles weih in on that?

Waiting for Crump’s media circus conference.....
Somebody for the Martin family spoke (screeched) to the press immediately after Z’s lawyer did. He was so angry that Z got out on bail that he could barely speak.
So much for “all we want is for him to be arrested”, which everybody knew was a lie.
Really?
By whom?
The AG, Eric (the race-whore) Holder?
NOT.
Legal experts had earlier predicted Zimmerman would likely be granted bail. Key factors include his ties to the local community and that he doesn’t appear to be a flight risk since he turned himself in voluntarily after he was charged last week. He also has never been convicted of a serious crime, which would indicate he doesn’t pose a threat to society.
“Although it’s not routine for people charged with murder to get bond, they do get bond, and I think there is an excellent argument to be made in his specific case for him to be released on bond,” said defense attorney Randy McClean, who practices in Seminole County, about 15 miles northeast of Orlando.

Does not mean that he can't have one or more armed friends hanging out with him 24/7.
He cannot have any firearms, drink alcohol or use drugs and must observe a curfew.
AND he will have electronic monitoring at all times. He hasn’t been convicted and they have him under house arrest.
Sex offenders have the electronic monitoring anklets and they just cut them off and disappear any time they want.
But this case is not about convicting Zimmerman, or 'justice' for Treyvon this case is about appeasement of the usual race mongers and revenge for Treyvon's death.
The low bail seems an indication of fairness on the part of the judge.
Where the heck in the Constitution does it imply the state can strip an innocent person of the constitutional right to defend himself by any legal means?
Oops. This is from the ABC News article.
How interesting that ABC News is publishing a picture today taken THREE minutes after the shooting showing the back of Zimmerman's head is bloody, by a neighbor.
Here's another gem from the ABC News article:
Zimmerman's parents and wife Shellie testified at the hearing by phone because they did not want to make a public appearance out of fear for their safety.
Wonderful:
And yet another gem:
Crump, the Martin family attorney, is skeptical. "How bad could it have been if they didn't take him to the hospital [and] didn't stitch him up," he said in a statement to ABC News in response to the image. "The special prosecutor has seen all the evidence and still believes George Zimmerman murdered Trayvon Martin."
Didn't this idiot attorney read the paramedics and the police reports? It clearly says there Zimmerman was stitched up at the scene before removal in the police car.
Anything to keep the " shot in the back like a rabid dog in the street" meme going, like that crazy Congresswoman.
My theory:
1. Contact between Zimmerman and Martin breaks off. Zimmerman walks back to his vehicle. Zimmerman does not know where Martin is.
2. Martin doubles back with the intention of confronting Zimmerman for whatever reason.
3. Martins jumps Zimmerman from behind and start pummeling Zimmerman , and grabbing Zimmerman's head and bouncing it into the sidewalk.
4. At some point it becomes evident to Martin there is a gun in Zimmerman's waistband and Martin goes for it.
5. A struggle for the gun ensues-- Zimmerman realizes if he loses the gun, he is a dead man.
6. In the struggle, the gun is fired into Martin at very close range(other photos taken by the same neighbor, who heard the scuffle but did not see it and who supplied ABCNews with the Zimmerman head photo, purportedly shows the powder burns on Martin's hoodie.)
Anyone seen the coroner's report yet?
Hope he has lots of good friends who are exquisitely patient and understanding. He's going to need them.

“Anyone seen the coroner’s report yet?”
*****************************************************
The overzealous, Nifong-like, politically motivated prosecutor is hiding that along with all the other exculpatory evidence from the public.
Anyone seen the coroners report yet?
I’ve wondered about that too, I bet the drug panel has some interesting dope on it. /pun
It be testin’ poz-o-tive fo’ Skillets ‘n IT!
Thanks.
Megan Kelly/FOX is about to play ZImmerman’s testamony.
Fox must have had their lib intern write this story. About half of it’s wrong.
The most egregious jeopardy Zimmerman is under, is from the thug personal agents of president Obama himself. Someone should have mentioned THAT to the judge at the first opportunity, and the judge could have ruled that the so called president of the United States NOT comment further on ANY aspect of the case, in the interests of a fair trial..
That would have been very interesting.
That a normal condition for the circumstances. There’s nothing to preclude him from having someone else come to his defense.
Leftist have little uses for real justice, only their political agenda matters above all things.
LOL! Good one!
BTW, has anyone noticed that besides this Crump guy, there’s 2 or 3 other lawyers that go on the cable channels and speak as the Martin family attorney.
How many attorneys does the Martin family actually have?
But what if he dies or is severely injured because he didn’t have a gun to defend himself with? Is the judge held liable for his death?
They’re busily trying to turn Zimmerman’s statement into an apology, then claim that the apology is evidence of guilt. If you read the comment in context, he expressed sympathy for their loss, but didn’t provide an apology for the simple reason that he has nothing to apologize for.
It’s just amazing how far the MSM is willing to diverge from reality in pursuit of their agenda.
Thanks Cboldt. I missed the hearing, and have only read comments here at FR.
That argument cuts both ways, and you’ll have to admit that (while it may not apply here), the risk of futher violent acts on the part of someone charged with committing one is higher than the risk of someone charged with committing a violent felony being assaulted by a stranger.
And... no... the court has no liability in the event of an assault on Zimmerman.
But he hasn’t been convicted of a crime, just charged. When Zimmerman is exonerated how will he go about having his right to bear arms restored for a crime he never committed?
permanently.
The bail conditions apply only during the time he’s out on bail.
Thank you for the transcript links.
I missed it live. From comments it sounds as if O’Mara was very good.
Zimmerman Bail Hearing - Transcript Section 3
O'Mara did a very good job. The prosecution has no evidence that Zimmerman started the fight, no evidence that he did not abide by dispatch suggestion to not follow. No evidence for some of the critical assertions in the affidavit.
