Either that, you you can go out in the wilderness and cross into Canada without anyone knowing, It is a long border and I'm sure there are many, many points you can cross over easily as you can drive a car. Or... You can crossover into Canada or Mexico and when you get caught, renounce U.S. Citizenship and then try crossing back into the U.S. as a illegal alien, you will get treated royally. B-P

Dear Congressman Smith:

I write to oppose Senate Bill 1813, also known as MAP-21. After careful review of certain provisions, I must say I am horrified by this further incursion on our personal liberty. I refer, of course, to provisions for denial or revocation of passports of citizens who are delinquent on their taxes and to the “black box” provisions. Of course, everyone wants the government to be able to collect taxes and to promote vehicle safety. But, as laudable as any goal may be, where will Congress draw a line for liberty? Until recently, the phrase “inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” seemed to mean something on Capitol hill. Lately, I’m not so sure.

Please, join with others in Congress to vociferously oppose this bill at every turn, particularly with regard to those egregious deprivations of liberty I mentioned. I look forward to seeing your active involvement in this issue and to voting for you again as I have many times in the past.

Getting your passport now will not entirely fix the problem. The language is “deny or revoke” meaning they are not limited to denial of passport applications, but to revoke passports already issued, both before and after the legislation goes into effect.

Well, that narrows it to only a 2012-13-14 SUV to replace the current unit; no 2015s in any future purchases, it would appear.

Yeah, looks like I'll have to keep my 1999 Blazer. It has a black box but it is a data recorder where you have to plug it into a computer, not a radio transmitting device. Look like I have to keep that vehicle although I'd like to restore my 1977 Mercury Cougar and/or buy a 1985 Oldsmobile Ciera a friend is selling. I also have Mom's 2004 Hyundai Sonata as well.

Well, if you're an electronic hacker type, I'm a typical amateur radio nerd, you could always look for the 2015 black box and cut the wires to it and/or find a way to disable it.

Yes, I was at the Canadian border. By treaty, the whole length is kept clear, I think it’s 20 meters wide. There are virtual highways through the pines for foot traffic here and there.

John Titor makes reference to a guy who purports to be from the future, correct? I followed some of that on ATS forum. Not sure how much weight to give it, but it was certainly intriguing.

This isn’t new - the producers versus the consumers.

I was at a marketing workshop last week, and I was having a chat with him in the speaker’s lounge. He pointed out the folly of ‘casual friday’, play areas in companies, etc.

He said that all of that is fine until the margins tighten up, which they inevitably do.

One VERY BIG distinction he made was the ‘hobby labs’ that used to exist at 3M, HP, and Applied Materials. Those things were worth their weight in gold. The companies would fund ‘hobby labs’ and let folks come in during weekends, or stay after work and invent stuff.

Smart people, at one time, those companies.

Well, I am a bit dubious about the time traveller part, although I do think it is possible, I'd lie more proof. Failing that, I pretty much see it as a story put out by someone or a group that is made up on libertarian/conservative/religious (it seems like the story contains elements of all three) bent where it is a story written as a warning of what could happen if we continue on this path.
