ATLANTA (WXIA/13WMAZ) -- The parents of Salecia Johnson, the 6-year-old Milledgeville girl who was arrested and handcuffed, say they plan to meet with representatives of Al Sharpton's group, the National Action Network on Friday.

Salecia parents will speak with leaders with the Atlanta chapter of Rev. Sharpton's community action organization.

A statement from the National Action Network said Johnson's parents hope the meeting will encourage Milledgeville police to change their protocol for dealing with children.

Milledgeville Police defended their action, saying they handcuffed the girl for her safety and the safety of her classmates.

The circus is now open in GA too. Here is a link to the incident report. Excerpts:

Upon my arrival, I observed Johnson screaming and crying inside the office on the floor. Popp stated that Johnson had been sent to her office this morning for pushing two other students and throwing items off the teacher's desk. When she was sent to the office Johnson refused to go inside and began running down the haJlway screaming. Popp also advised that Johnson had run away from the school before and school resource officers had to retrieve her.

Popp advised that she and Davis were eventually able to get Johnson to go into her office .. Johnson then began tearing items off the walls (calendars, photos, other misc. items) and throwing furniture (small self unit, books, and toys on display). Popp stated the small shelf struck her in the leg while Johnson was throwing items at her. Popp also stated that Johnson began tearing up other items and tried several times to get out of the office. Johhson was observed biting the door knob of the office and jumping on the paper shredder and attempted to break a glass frame above the shredder. I noticed the damage to school property and possible assault of other students and staff.

I made six attempts to contact her mother (Ruff) via telephone. The staff at the school and I were unable to contact Ruff. I attempted to calm Johnson down by speaking with Johnson' and placing my hand on her shoulder to attempt to clam Johnson and speak with her about the incident. Johnson then pulled away and began actively resisting and fighting with me. At this time Johnson was restrained with a pair of handcuffs for her safety as well"as others safety in the area.

Lock the parents up they have abused this child by not getting her help earlier in her life plus if locked up, they might just lose a few of those unhealthy pounds. Is the IRS watching the Rev. Sharpton....keeping track of how much he makes off this family? They sure would be if the family were of another race..........

I guess that if Obama wanted more children, girls, that is, little thug gangsta, Salecia Johnson would fit Obama to a tee. All kidding aside, the problem with this kid and millions of others, is not the kid. It is the parents, who live in broken homes, disjointed families, unwed mothers, massive abortions, lack of education, lack of accountability and responsibilty for their offspring, etc. What kid has a real chance for a decent life with surroundings like this.

And...going to an idiot like Al Sharpton ain’t gonna do one bit of good for this unfortunate little girl. And...Obama, the low life that he is, takes advantage of these sad folks by playing the race card at every opportunity he has!!! What has America become under Obama & company? The adrift at sea continues, unabated.

From the description, it sounds as though the girl either has a undiagnosed condition and is in need of medication or hasn't been disciplined a day in her life and is a brat. Either way, Sharpton is last person these parents need to be contacting; unless along with his credentials as a bloviating race baiter, he's also a child psychologist.

I don't agree with handcuffing and arresting the brat but it's obvious they're liberals so I say throw the kid out of school and call child protective services on the parents. Let them navigate through the nightmare of agencies their continued support of democrats has made possible.

They have handcuffs small enough for a six-year-old child?

(Headslap) First, in the initial article I read the parents have the “Well- kids will be kids, she just had a bad moment like everyone else does, these things happen” outlook when their little monster went out of control, and now they call in Sharpton. I really should have seen it coming, I don’t know why I didn’t.

They sure did change their tune, check out this brief video clip:

http://www.13wmaz.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=1566806401001

"She called the police on me for no reasoning" (kid)
"That [arrest] could damage a child for life" (aunt)

So now we have a perfectly innocent 6 year old possibly damaged for life because her principal and the police department saw fit to detain her for no reason. maybe if the mother had picked up her phone (emergency contact number I assume) one of the six times the school/police called this would have ended differently. Obviously this family is now under "new management" (Sharpton & Co).

I’m waiting for all the knee-jerking FReepers to report in with support for these parents and Al Sharpton.

When this story was FReeped a few days ago, we had numbers of FReepers outraged at a 6 year old being cuffed.

Me? I’m outraged that we live in a culture where it is normal and ordinary to cuff little kids.

But, such is life.

That 6 year old was a terror as far as I read; tearing items off the wall, throwing other items at windows and pictures, and finally knocked a shelf down causing minor injuries to the principal. She needs to be institutionalized, not lifted up as a victim.
