Washington, D.C. - Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after Nevadas unemployment rate dropped to 12 percent in March:
The decline in Nevadas unemployment rate is encouraging. Our economy is slowly recovering, but too many Nevadans remain out of work, which is why we must remain focused on creating jobs.
Earlier this month I met with Nevada business leaders to discuss ways to increase domestic and international tourism. Our state is known for world class entertainment, and we can create jobs by making it easier for visitors to travel to Nevada. We must also strengthen our infrastructure by passing by a Highway Bill. Right now, we have a bill before Congress that will allow funding for the crucial interstate between Las Vegas and Phoenix, connecting two of the largest cities in the Southwest and bringing more travelers to Nevada. Unfortunately, Republicans have chosen to ignore this important transportation jobs bill, which will also support 12,800 Nevada jobs.
This transportation jobs bill shouldnt be a fight. Unfortunately Republicans have chosen to accommodate the Tea Partys extreme demands instead of passing this bipartisan bill. I will continue to work with my colleagues on common-sense measures that will grow our economy and help middle-class families and I urge Republicans to put politics aside to work with us so Nevadans can get back to work.
Funny, I thought the rats controlled the Senate. What a piece of work.
Remember when Dingy Harry sent a staff member to get video of participants in an opposition rally? I can’t remember if it was a TEA party rally.
I bet that Tea Party People are quitting their jobs just so they can increase the unemployment rate across the country.
Harry Reid makes me want to move back to So. Cal.
If it is so important, why wasn't it included in the $800 billion stimulus package three years ago?
Or, why don't you just put it into your regular annual budget?
They will get back to work, Harry, when you and your socialist cohorts have your assess thrown out of Congress.
