this is true; I had to have an IV drip once, over a period of hours (I was told it had to be very slowly dripped into my system). Doc was very concerned about how low my potassium level was and said it is dangerous for your heart. I didn't know about that; my father has low potassium, too, so I don't know if it's hereditary? I often get leg/toe cramping, which I think is related to my potassium level getting low (then I remember to take my vitamins, which have potassium in it. As long as I'm taking vitamins regularly, the cramps don't come return).
