State Assemblyman Roger Hernandez (D-West Covina) was driving a state car away from the Sacramento area without the required permission when he was arrested last month on suspicion of drunken driving, officials said Friday.

Hernandez was stopped by police in Concord at 2 a.m. on March 27 after officers saw his car weaving between lanes.

At the time, Hernandez was driving a Toyota Camry owned by the state and assigned to the Assembly’s vehicle pool. Such vehicles are not supposed to be driven out of the Sacramento area without permission, which Hernandez failed to get for his Concord trip, ..

"As a freshman he has been reminded of that,'' Waldie said.

But Hernandez is still being allowed access to state cars, Waldie said. ..

He’s a DemocRAT. This is nothing a few minutes in “rehab” won’t take care of. LOL!

Concord Police Chief Guy Swanger said at the time that Hernandez appeared to be intoxicated but refused to take a Breathalyzer test

Roger Hernandez (D-West Covina)... state car... without the required permission... suspicion of drunken driving...

None of this would have happened if California raised taxes again.

Thanks NormsRevenge.

A Republican doing the same would have been charged with felony crime, jailed - and summarily driven out of office by state government.

“He’s a DemocRAT. This is nothing a few minutes in “rehab” won’t take care of. LOL!”

They conveniently left out the part about the fact that he had his “underaged niece” in the car with him at 2 a.m. and was arrested as he attempted to park at a convenient Concord hotel. Jon Waldie must be the “issue” of Jerome Waldie one of our old time RATS of the Georgie Miller ilk!

Seems he had a 29 yr old woman with him.

Capitol Alert: Assemblyman was driving state car when arrested in DUI case

{snip}

The 36-year-old lawmaker, accompanied in the Toyota Camry by a 29-year-old woman, contends that laboratory results will show that he was not legally drunk when taken into custody.

Days after his arrest, Hernandez told The Bee that he had been in the Bay Area to visit a friend.

I wonder who the chick was? Careful honey, he's a Democrat who's drunk and behind the wheel.

This is getting to be a routine thing in California, with democrat state lawmakers driving state vehicles while drunk or drugged up. But, he'll get off if he uses the old tried-and-true democrat excuses....tired from working long hours serving their constituants, taking meds for allergies, going through a rough divorce (Skippy is leaving George or Sally is having problems with her husband Jane), I didn't realize I was driving a State vehicle because the moon is making a triple shadow on Pluto while the third sun is approaching Venus, his/her shrink had an emergency and he/she wasn't able to have her weekly appointment, my daddy died on Saipan in 1944, Senator Henry Gonzales blows kiss-kisses at Judge Leroy Washington, etc, etc, etc.

Works every time.

This simply demonstrates the need to strictly regulate — nay, BAN — guns.
