A Gainesville man who beat and stabbed his mother when she refused to give him money for crack cocaine and beer was arrested late Friday night by Gainesville police after a struggle in which he tried to bite an officer, according to an arrest report. William Bernard Lee, 44, of 912 NW 6th Ave., was charged with attempted murder and resisting arrest with violence.

There are a lot of sick, sick bastids in this world..........
(Do I really need a sarcasm tag? Really?)
We need to make drugs legal so people like this can get them cheap and not have to go to their mothers for money.
Yeah folks that’s sarcasm. Making drugs cheap would only lead to even more creeps like this.
Gee golly....one of Obama’s son....er.....brothers. Color me shocked.
Hmmm. He looks a little old to be Obama’s son, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind adopting him anyway.
You said what I was going to.
If you find out that your kid is on crack or meth dont let them in your house until they are clean for a good long time.
It will hurt but it just is not worth risking your life to be sympathetic to a sociopath even if they are family.
Looks like the cops allowed this poor victim of society keep his teeth. Too bad resisting the police by biting should be a good reason to knock out 8 or 10 of them.
You’re right. Much better to have a Leviathion of a Federal government that can trash the 4th and 5th Amendments, militarize every podunk police department in the country, fund pet shooting SWAT teams, and seize cash from travellers without charging them with any crime at all, let alone actually convicting them of anything.
The there’s the side benefit of hang murderous gangs getting into the drug trade so they can shoot 6 year olds sitting on their front porch while they defend their turf.
I’m so glad we have Mommy Fed there to tell adults what they can and cannot put into their own bodies. I mean look at how bad the legalized and regulated alcohol trade is now. Why we have the Jonny Walker Gang shooting it out with the Jack Daniels Gang every sindgle weekend in my neighborhood.
And don’t even get me started on the Capt. Morgan crew and their bloody feud with the Bacardi Boys. What a bloody mess that is...
There are laws against a little horse play with the family?/s
He is his lover from the wookie haters of America meetings.
I sure hope they don’t legalize drugs. I really don’t want to become a drug addict.
Happy Earf Day Mom!
This post does not even begin to address the negative consequences of drug use. On the other hand, a position in favor of prohibition does not eliminate the negative outcomes you have described, either.
All rights come with corresponding duties. If an individual has a legal right to purchase and consume a drug of choice, he also has an obligation to avoid doing physical or financial harm to others, including taxpayers, in the process.
How can this responsibility best be imposed upon the person who claims the liberty?
The face of Hope ‘n’ Change.
Sadly enough, I wonder if her response to the attack would be something like, “But he really is a good person, and he has a good heart...”
Good question! Probably no 12 year-old pics available due to his juvenile detention.
And I don’t want a pothead doctor operating on me!
Al and Jesse will no doubt get right to work on this!
"He were always such a good boy. When he were younger, he hep his lil sister wit she homework. And he got money by recyclin alumbilum beer cans when he and he friends was finished wit dem.
He ain never cause no trouble before, but he did have some personal prollems. He were trying to get he life back in order and he goal in life were to go to collitch, git a dergree in bidness, an become CEO of ALCOA. His sperience wit alumbilum made him git dat goal.
He always wanted to buy me a tin million dollah home in some rich hood so I could have a nice life.
I don't think he did this crime they cusin him of. He would never ever stab me inna face wit no ice pick! Couldnta been him. I din't see him nowheres round when I were gitten my face all stabbed up. I din't see who done it but twerent mah lil boy."
Just in time for Mother’s Day.
Sorry, “good” was spelled incorrectly in my post #24. It sposed to be “goot.”
Hell why only legal and cheap? I can picture the current folks making it a minority-specific 9affirmative action) addendum to "free birth control" so they can get all the crack they want at our expense. It's just not fair to deny these poor minorities their crack cocaine because it makes them violent against their own folks.
News bulletion! William Bernard Lee’s momma say she thinks it was some white Hispanic that down that crime on her.
“Don’t talk to us like we stupid ! Don’t talk to us like we ignant,” Rev. Al.
Oh boy, another violent black criminal.
If we just made the stuff legal this kind of thing wouldn’t happen......
He looks like he could easily be his bro.
That be well sed.
Just in time for Mother’s Day.
Are the neighbors saying he was such a nice man? Such a loving son. Never caused a problem. Was kind to animals. Always had a nice word to say and would give you the shirt off his back. And he was trying to turn his life around...
“If I knew a murderer on crack, he would look like William Bernard Lee.”
If you do, Your floors will be spotless, but your jewelry will all be gone.
It is unfair. If you are a white person addicted to meth, you can get a prescription for Adderall.
Really. I mean, the price of beer has skyrocketed, and this can make one desperate.
Drugs: Just another “victimless crime”.
That is one of the most concise presentations of this issue's double-bind I've read.
Just look at him... it’s obvious he was just another Skittles addict.
Thanks. This is, it seems to me, the central paradox of liberty. It’s very easy to claim a “right,” even if it’s just in the sense of “they couldn’t stop me.” If it’s not drug use, it could be alcohol, promiscuous sex, driving fast, motorcycling without a helmet, or whatever.
However, even if the person claiming the liberty theoretically “accepts responsibility,” it is nearly impossible fully to impose the consequences on the person who earned them. In the case at hand, even if the man were executed today, that wouldn’t undo the harm to his mother. Even if retribution is painful and significant, for any damage, that doesn’t un-hurt, un-kill, un-do whatever has gone on.
So what is a society to do, in terms of law, for the best outcome. I don’t know. Perhaps start by accepting that there are insoluble problems, instead of searching for easy answers.
Well said (again).
I think we forget that God has his reasons for building or collapsing a nation, reasons we know nothing of. We think it’s all on us, that we must solve the problem of man’s rebellion. That’s exactly what we cannot do. We can only deal with the manifestations that threaten general stability, and this in a remedial way. God alone has the authority and power to Redeem.
We can call the understanding that many serious issues don’t have solutions a “tragic worldview,” but we could as easily call it a Christian worldview. There are limits to what fallen people in a fallen world can do, and the ultimate outcome for each of us is between ourselves and God.
