CHICAGO, April 22, 2012 – The first Trayvon Martin-related hate crime has just been reported. Is the politically heated rhetoric surrounding the Sanford, Florida case to blame?

For weeks, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and other prominent political figures have been ratcheting up the rhetoric in the case of Trayvon Martin. Martin is the 17-year-old black teenager who was shot by volunteer neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman. Zimmerman is of white and Peruvian descent.

Critics have charged that Jackson and Sharpton have been using the Trayvon Martin case to fan the flames of U.S. racial discord and have intentionally focused their venom on the racial divisions between the white and black communities – Zimmerman’s mixed racial heritage notwithstanding.

Last month, Jackson launched what he termed the “Trayvon Martin-voter registration movement” with a goal of registering 1 million voters in Florida.

The founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition also expressed anger after bond was set Friday at $150,000 for Zimmerman’s release.

“We are disappointed that the bond was set so low,” said Jackson. “Tomorrow Mr. Zimmerman’s freedom will be restored. This decision cheapens black life.”

But now there is a real-life casualty of the heated - some would say politically-motivated - rhetoric: a 19-year-old white hate crime victim from Chicago....

HiPoint Model C9 9mm. They also produce carbines in a range of the most popular calibers including: 380 ACP, 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP.

Very inespensive, as they utilize nearby automotive subcontactors for some of the manufacturing process. Lifetime, transferable warranty.

The decision that Zimmerman isn’t a flight risk, so doesn’t need a heavy bail? If the judge had been more politic, he would have set bail at a million, but the fine print would say that it was “partially secured,” i.e., that he only has to put down 150,000, and if he fled justice he’d then forfeit that amount and also owe another 850,000. Dumb judge. Don’t feed the hustlers.

And who would know how to cheapen black life more than an adulterous, race-baiting, stuttering boob...

2DV - I think you use that red thingy with the lock on the end to strangle them when you run out of Ammo. LOL

I have the same little pistol as part of my “collection”.
They get a bad rap but so far mine is holding up very well.
Don't shoot it much nowadays, but never had a stove pipe like some of my Glock owning buddies have.

I wanted to get the .40 and .45 that they make, but I live in CA and they aren't on the “approved” list.

I called Hi Point to see when they would be available here and they told me that they gave up on CA, so we can only get the .380 and the 9mm standard models here. The State “Testing” isn't worth the time and expense for them since they aren't a big player. Commie California sucks...

If you’re interested in Chicago Crime..We’ve collected an entire research thread to it. Will be anxious to see how Rezko connects to this group. His first job was keeping the boxer M Ali in line for Ferret-con. So it appears that the Obingos have many blood connections to .....WE ARE FAMILY dot dot dot dot Deee

-- However, the person filing the suit would have to have "standing", i.e., he would have to demonstrate that he was personally harmed by the specific act of criminal violence (e.g., the victim or the victim's parent.) --

Inciting violence is a criminal act, charged by the state if it chooses to.

Not saying Sharpton or Jackson meet the criteria for the crime, but if they do, standing isn't the problem. The legal hurdle is 1st amendment, and that the person has to have expressly "urged ten or more persons to engage in tumultuous and violent conduct of a kind likely to create public alarm." (cribbing from NYS Penal Law 240.08, because that came up near the top of the web search results). In New York, the crime is a misdemeanor.

I agree with your comments about the difficulties of mounting a civil case.
