59% Favor Automatic Immigration Checks During All Traffic Stops in PoliticsEmail thisShareThis

Monday, April 23, 2012

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments Wednesday on the controversial immigration law first passed in Arizona two years ago, and a majority of voters nationwide still agree with one of the law’s chief provisions.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 59% believe police should automatically check the immigration status of individuals they pull over for a traffic violation. One-in-three (32%) opposes such a rule. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The State keep the borders wide open, then they treat everyone inside the borders as a suspect.

And 59% are happy to be treated as suspects.

The article, and this thread, are about "traffic stops," not checkpoints.

LOL, when the police pull you over for a traffic violation, how else are they supposed to treat you?

I was wondering when someone would state that checkpoints are illegal under the 4th amendment.

With that said, all illegal persons in this country should be deported if/when found.

They don’t even deport the illegals they capture - often even when they are criminals! Check points? Not to capture illegals. More like to imprison Americans - the real domestic terrorists the elitists fear and hate.

Whew! I agree with that as long as I do not have to carry my proof of citizeship to the grocery store and have to show it on demand! If it is a traffic stop, all I have is my driver's license.

Not sure if that is proof of citizenship or not (it is not in Washington state since they give illegals driver licenses).

Understood. I was just reacting to the implication that we should have to carry proof of citizenship everywhere we go (jogging, grocery store, etc) like you do in Mexico (see post #5).

Totally agree with that.

“Rounding them up” would involve chasing after them. Holding onto somebody after you have them in hand is entirely different than going out looking for them.
