WASHINGTON (AP) — Newt Gingrich's daughter says the former House speaker will "reassess" his campaign after the votes are tallied in Delaware, potentially setting the stage for his exit from the Republican presidential race.

Jackie Gingrich Cushman said Tuesday that her father's campaign has slimmed down but is still winning over voters who aren't yet sold on Mitt Romney, who has effectively clinched the GOP presidential nomination.

Despite trailing Romney in convention delegates and fundraising, Gingrich has vowed to campaign until the party's late-summer convention in Florida.

Gingrich is carrying more than $4.3 million in debt and has been spending more money than he is taking in.

What I’ve heard is Newt not trashing Romney when Hannity was talking about Romney. Newt has already said he will support Romney if and when he gets the 1144 or however many delegates are needed to clinch. But Newt has NOT quit the campaign yet.

If you think there isn’t a difference between Romney and Obama you could not be more wrong.

Yep, Obama is a dyed in the wool commie. Whereas Romeny (like to many American voters) is what I have been calling a secondhand communist.
He supports most of their positions where it matters. Job because Obama has a lot of money doesn’t make him a capitalist or really free market or pro-Constitution.
The reality is there isn’t a lot of evidence that Romney is anything but a uber lib. Except, he when he tries to bumble through the usual conservative buzz words.
You are right there is a lot of difference between BO and Willard.. unfortunately what they have in common is neither of them are very good.
Personally, I am writing in Palin or Gingrich. I’ll vote for the other lower offices.
Again, good luck to you America.

I understand that...just very disappointing turnout today at my district. I can only hope others might show tonight after work. The people there were all frustrated with this primary....angry...dismayed....I think I caught their bug!

I was waiting for Newt to say something that was encouraging....about his run....must be I had the wrong ears on.

If Newt Gingrich does, officially, drop out of the ‘12 race for POTUS, then who should the majorities of conservative voters/very conservative voters vote for,>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

We write in Sarah Palin, or revenge against GOP vote Obama?

You should know by now after displaying your unbridled hate and sanctimony via your support of Tricky Ricky you have very little credibility with anyone anywhere... that’s probably a universal in your life...

I know what reassess means, when Newt says it over, it’s over, not before...

I know what the words mean, but put together, they make no sense, much like most of your posts. As for my credibility here, please expand on that.

What state do you live in? I bet Newt does better than expected tonight, it’s not like Milquetoast Mitt is going to make people enthusiastic to come out and vote for the “inevitable nominee!”

Same here. Romney makes me ILL. I do not know if I can ever justify voting for that liberal clown.

I appreciate what you are saying, and if you want to stay home and effectively cast a vote for Obama then so be it. I do understand that Romney is not a conservative. However, on election day there will be exactly TWO names on the ballot with any chance at all of being elected President. I will actively support the one who see as a politician vs. one I see as someone who hates this country and seeks it’s destruction (at least as we know it). If Romney was running against a so-called Blue Dog, or someone I felt loves this country but was just flat WRONG on the issues I might join you. HOWEVER, this election is about Obama. We have to get him out of office. We cannot have an America-hater with that level of Executive power.

Am in Western PA. Hoping Newt comes out well tonight. Now that Romney has "assumed" leadership of this Primary, and he's certainly moving ahead 'without the rest of the voters'. Those who support him need to really wonder what he will do if he does win the Presidency. Obvious he is has now revealed the nations people don't matter regardless of what comes out of his mouth.

He bought and cheated this Primary....he never "needed" the voters in his eyes...I mean come on.. he cut them all off and just went ahead and declared himself the winner.....worse...no outcry from any. Where are the people???

By the end of this, the American people will be so demoralized and desperate they will accept anything that Romney feeds them that remotely resembles a way out, including the entire destruction of our nations sovereignty into a new type of world order...cause it'll come fast with Romney at the helm.

Terrified are you? Their plans have worked then. Romney a politician??? You have got to be kidding me...he’s as much a front man as Obama. Or have you warmed up to the soft side of deception?

Sheesh....this election is not about Obama...this election is about choosing the best man for this country and neither of them are “It”...not even close.

Romney intends to transform this nation acccording to his hidden agenda... just as much as Obama has desired, only Obama made it quite clear what he was about. Romney is deceiving most...they have baited and taken you on their ride.

I know what the words mean, but put together, they make no sense, much like most of your posts. As for my credibility here, please expand on that.

You have spread so many lies, propelled by so much vitriol the last few months in support of your candidate, how could anyone take things you post as anything more than twisting words and trying to manipulate people's thinking, this thread case in point.

I myself have caught you in several lies, then painstakingly posted to you sources of all sorts to show you where you were absolutely incorrect, and the next day you'd be back to posting the same lies again.

As a member of a military family with friends, loved ones and family deployed across the globe, I find your religious bigotry in voting for Santorum distasteful, to say the least when there is still a conservative in the race.

Had the tables been reversed, and Santorum the last conservative standing, I would have voted for him today, were it my state, to keep the chance of barack obama getting another term severely limited, for the sake of the military if nothing else.

When are stupid religious bigots going to wake up? You want to legislate your brand of sanctimonious morality, open a church.

Here's what RC has to say about the word "reassess", complete with link, something you have problems supplying because YOU MAKE THINGS UP.

Why don't you change your screen name to Friend of Romney...

"Here's the full email from Hammond:

Three scenarios:

1. Doomsday -- We do poorly in Delaware, Gingrich will keep his campaign schedule in North Carolina but reassess with supporters whether or not there is a path forward.

2. Middle ground --- a razor thin win for Romney in Delaware could show cracks in the armor and coalesce a conservative coalition of supporters behind Newt.

3. Break in the Dam --- A win in Delaware builds financial and grassroots momentum going into North Carolina -- combined with the ABC news report that Winning our Future has $5 million to spend on TV in North Carolina could be the beginning of a chain of wins through DE, NC, KY, WV...then into a battle royal in Texas and California."

It's pretty clear why Romney is trying to suppress turnout, and why people like you are helping him...

If you take note of the main purpose of Free Republic, you will see listed prominently first "God".

Welcome to Free Republic, America's exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!

Then you write something like this angry screed, after calling me angry in an irrational fashion:

When are stupid religious bigots going to wake up? You want to legislate your brand of sanctimonious morality, open a church.

Perhaps you are the one that belongs at DU. They don't like religion or people of faith one bit over there. I have seen folks zotted for far less religious intolerance.

“Personally, I am writing in Palin or Gingrich.”

Great, shades of the McCain campaign. Just what we don’t need! I don’t care if the devil himself is running, he would still be a better choice than this dangerous anti-American hating commie we have in the White House right now. What destruction Obama has done to this country cannot compare to what he will do in the next 4 years if given the chance. Greece will look like paradise compared to us.

Honestly, this primary is over. That was proved tonight. Romney without Santorum in the field was dominant, as predicted.

I know this is difficult medicine for the Gingrich supporters, but Romney will get over the required number of delegates pretty soon.

Newt should have helped Santorum when they had a chance to defeat Romney, rather then helping Romney defeat Santorum.
