Gingrich won't drop out Tuesday, no matter what happens in Delaware, spokesman says
ABC ^ | 4-24-12 | Moody

(edit). Here's the full email from Hammond.

Three scenarios: 1. Doomsday -- We do poorly in Delaware, Gingrich will keep his campaign schedule in North Carolina but reassess with supporters whether or not there is a path forward.

2. Middle ground --- a razor thin win for Romney in Delaware could show cracks in the armor and coalesce a conservative coalition of supporters behind Newt.

3. Break in the Dam --- A win in Delaware builds financial and grassroots momentum going into North Carolina -- combined with the ABC news report that Winning our Future has $5 million to spend on TV in North Carolina could be the beginning of a chain of wins through DE, NC, KY, WV...then into a battle royal in Texas and California.

I don't know why Newt allows this discussion to happen on a primary day. I suspect he anticipates (hopes for) scenario 3(above), and he wants to counter Romney's victory speech tonight in NH with a proclamation that the voters are experiencing buyer's remorse with Romney.

But, he first needs the vote in Delaware- and I don't see how it helps to have the day's focus on whether or not he will withdraw.

Well, hopefully he'll catch a break.

I'm in, til Newt's out.

Win, lose or draw I will vote for a conservative in November. If the Democrat primary ends up between Lightworker Hussein and Bishop Willard, I will leave that to unprincipled opportunists, dupes and leftists to figure out.

I doubt these reports that he’ll drop out are coming from his camp, they’re most likely generated by wishful thinkers, e.g., Romney, etal and even democrats thinking they will generate pressure on Newt to force him out.

Stay all the way Newt, maybe it’ll keep Romney from being the nominee.

Mrs. exit82 and I proudly voted for Newt here in DE.

If you are in the five states holding primaries today, get up and get to the polls and vote for Newt.

Romney is NOT the nominee yet, and with Newt in the race, Romney still has to earn votes.

If you roll over to “inevitability” while there is yet a chance to affect the outcome, then this is not the site for you.

GO NEWT!!

Newt, Romney, Santorum and Paul are on the ballot in Delaware.

No one has any get out the vote effort going.

Only an idiot would draw any meaningful conclusion from the outcome today.

Trunout is so low, Ron Paul could win.

I'm in, til Newt's out.

Me too.

However, come November, if Romney is the nominee,my family and my friends will be either voting Constitution Party for POTUS or a write-in.

Not voting for that lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal Romney under any circumstances.

I don’t know why Newt allows this discussion to happen on a primary day.

It seems to me that Newt abets this by some of his recent comments. Newt is trying to make the best of his situation I’m sure.

From the following report in the Washington Times is this Newt quote.

snip
But if GOP front-runner Mitt Romney were to win Delaware, “I think you would have to stop and take a deep breath,” Gingrich said Monday night during his final Delaware campaign appearance.
end snip

Also, turnout appears to be very low based upon any reports I can find around the net. This may help Newt if he has any ground support working in DE.

Even though I don't know know these men personally ...

I will vouch for their Free Republic posting history over the last six months ...

They are "genuine patriots" ... stout supporters of Newt Gingrich ... and American Conservatism ...

Don't blame these guys (or me) if "truth" compells us to tell the "true story" of Willard "Mitt" Romney, the Mormon rch-Bishop Celestial God-Child ...

who secretly yearns for those Multiple-Wives on Planet Kolob ...

while he sits in Bain Capital Gold ...

Is Bert Convy conservative? I smell write-in potential. At least if he was still alive.

Yeah- the source here is an email from RC Hammond, Newt’s campaign manager. That’s the problem.

IMO, Newt has always felt that he had to justify his continued candidacy. So, Newt is the guy who put this withdrawal issue out there by saying he would “re-assess” after the primaries.

I don’t think he wants to withdraw— But, I do believe that he wants to reassess after the primaries- which is to say- he wants to find a narrative to continue based on any Romney weakness.

My position is that he’s gotten some breaks— Romney’s moving left, we’re coming into conservative states, he’s only down 9 points in Texas. He’s leading with social conservatives. NC has a same sex marriage bill on the ballot. He can do well in May.

So, I just wish they would stop trying to justify their campaign -and just move forward. It’s hard to motivate people, if they think one is on the verge of surrender.
