Romney Wins in Rhode Island and Connecticut Primaries

By Michael O'Brien Updated 8:21 p.m. ET - Mitt Romney won the Connecticut and Rhode Island primaries on Tuesday, putting him on the path toward the general election, and allowing him to tend to unfinished business in the Republican primary.

Facing no meaningful opposition in Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, or Rhode Island, the former Massachusetts governor was expected to win the vast majority, if not all, of the 222 delegates up for grabs in his bid to formalize the GOP nomination.

While President Barack Obama went after the college vote Tuesday, presidential candidate Mitt Romney was prepping for another primary night. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.

He started the evening, which was expected to showcase his pivot toward the general election, with wins in two of the five states.In the three weeks since the last slate of primaries in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Wisconsin, Romney’s principle conservative rival, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, exited the race.

If it does (and I agree it appears it will) come down to Mitt. I won't throw my vote away to oust one socialist for another.

The whole “Romney is as bad as Obama” position misses reality on several of levels. Disclaimer: I hate Romney, I want Newt, but Romney WILL be the nominee.

1). Obama is a radical Marxist. In a second term, he won’t be held back by any accountability to the electorate (we saw a glimpse of this during his open mic comments) and he’ll subvert the authority of congress. He will take us in a radical direction that will take decades to overcome.

2). Romney’s views are founded in liberalism; I’m convinced of this. BUT he is no where near as far far far left off to the left as the radical Obama is. Romney is a Liberal, Obama is a radical Marxist.

3). Romney can be mostly controled by a Conservative. Republican congress, Obama cannot. If we work to get a solid conservative House and Senate conservatives can dictate the agenda. Obama will veto and call the legislation “radical right” and the media will lap it up.

So you see, it’s not that I haven’t paid attention in the past. It’s kinda like taking a leak on an electric fence.....eventually, even for the dumbest, it’s just not fun anymore.

I recognize that at some point I will be very unhappy with what this country ends up with, but I will always have joy on my face with the knowledge that your saint is not going to be in the White House.

I agree. We have too many spineless repubs, let’s work on the remaining Congressional primaries and get some backbone in congress. Then we can keep the Lib Romney in check (for the most part), but no how no way will we keep a 2nd term Obama in check.

We are going to have to find a away to keep Obama in check. It’s easy for me not to vote for Romney. He’s not going to carry Minnesota anyways.

Thing is, he’s not likely to carry much at all. Romney will loose and the fix has been in for months. Romney is not suppose to win, or come close to winning.

we have to focus on the house and senate. Bonehead and McConehead need to go.
