“Justice for Trayvon” mob beatings are now a rising cause for the right, with a horrific crime leaving one man in critical condition.
Elevating “walking while white” is the most absurdly tortured false equivalency someone can hoist as an answer to George Zimmerman killing Trayvon Martin. But that’s what Erick Erickson was happy to legitimize when he drew attention to this post via Twitter.
And this is the third racially-motivated attack in which the attackers explicitly cited “Justice for Trayvon” as a motivation or excuse for the brutal attacks.
1. The Baltimore Beating. This was the videotaped gang attack on a drunk St. Patrick’s day reveler whose crime was Walking While White (Content Warning).
Baltimore’s Chief of Police says it’s not a hate crime. He’s very worried about the politics.
There’s one problem with that: the attackers say otherwise. The man identifying himself as the cameraman who giddily filmed the attack on the white tourist says…
“Lil Darren” is clearly an idiot. He’s angry, too. His reaction to the Trayvon Martin killing triggered it, which reminded me of another situation that lit another city on fire.
I lived in Los Angeles during the Rodney King beating, trial and riots that engulfed part of the city. When King was beaten by police, which was caught on tape, the outrage was understandably red hot. The tape of the beating was played over and over again on TV. But when the venue to try the policemen involved was changed to Simi Valley, a bleached landscape where many police and firemen live, the outcome was set, many residents thought, including myself. When the verdict came down everyone knew what was coming.
When the National Guard was brought in, I was downtown as an independent writer and watched the tanks move in to the city. It was surreal.
The tragic beating of Matthew Owens, seen in the video above, which was fueled by a “justice for Trayvon” temper explosion, is the same sort of thing and it’s despicable.
What it’s not about is the ridiculous notion of “walking while white.” There’s no white man burden in America, though the right’s been stoking this since affirmative action was born.
It’s about fury.
It’s about the righteous injustice African Americans have had to contend with for over a century. Mobile, Alabama, where Matthew Owens was beaten to within an inch of his life, has a deep history of racial bigotry and violence. That a mob in Mobile could relate to the gunning down of Trayvon Martin through violence shouldn’t shock America.
“Driving while black” is part of the “trying to hail a taxi in New York while being black,” which is part of “walking while black,” all of which can lead to arrest, walking home, or getting killed, especially if you’re wearing a hoodie.
Yes, It is a real shame! I spent most of my time with fellows that I had fun with (golf, booze, and other things) and it did include what is now considered blacks (back then they were just friends). It has become much more polarized these days though - due to those race baiters that live on animosity between the races.
Race relations has definitely gone downhill due to the MSNBC folks and their supporters. I hate them all!
The white kid in KS who was told by his black teacher he couldn’t answer any questions about black history, then the kid was followed by some black teens and set on fire.
Elderly white man in OKC beaten to death by a black perp.
Elderly white couple in Tulsa, OK beaten, wife raped (died the next day), man shot in face with BB gun, robbed.
All the incidents at various state fairs and on public streets last summer of black mobs descending on white folks and beating them.
yes, the list is indeed long. And I don’t care about whether these are specifically “hate” crimes or not. They are certainly not acts of love or respect.
This is nuts. Raging blacks beat up random white people because they are mad about Trayvon Martin getting shot. They scream racial insults and specifically say they are picking out white folks”... But it’s not racial?
Further proof that the PC police only recognize racism if they create it themselves, and it can ONLY be when a minority, preferably black, is the victim.
An officer pulls over a driver who ran a red light. The driver pulls a gun and the officer fires in self defense- the driver is black, officer white- automatically it is “racially motivated”.
Same situation but roles reversed- race is NOT an issue.
In my life I have known of a great number of areas where it was safe to walk as a black person but not safe to walk as a white person. I know of no area in America where the converse is true. Why exactly is it that I am supposed to be so concerned about white racists in America? BTW, I would hope that it isn't safe to do crime anywhere in America, black or white. Some of them have been successfully converted to Class III full-auto, short-barreled weapons.

You don’t understand, if you are white you cannot talk about Mike Tyson biting off ears, no matter whether he bites off a white ear or even a black ear, to mention it automatically qualifies you as a racist. On the other hand, if you are black you can call Tyson whatever name you wish to call him and you can refer to white people as “Cracker”, “Whitey”, “Honkey”, “Redneck” or whatever else you like and you can be a rich standup comic with an audience full of stupid white people who pay to sit and have you insult them, those are the current rules.

You are under the mistaken notion that they give a sh*t. The race hustlers don’t care the folks that they are agitating don’t care . The have a grudge for slights real & imagined and have been stirred to violence by the community organizers who literally provoke racial hatred for profit.

First of all, none of them have "contended" through that. It's history. Secondly, "I" am not responsible for that. I just happen to have the same skin color of some who might, BUT I'M NOT THEM. So don't judge me by my skin color alone. Say, where have we heard THAT before?

Yes, the rules used to be different. June will mark fifty years since I boarded a plane for the first time in my life and flew to San Diego for Navy basic. In boot camp they used to tell us that if we didn’t like the way we were treated we could transfer “over the fence”, on the other side was Marine boot camp. Nobody ever raised his hand and asked to be transferred. Of course in those days if you really wanted to go home all you had to do was claim to be queer, gay still meant happy back then.
We had desired to move across the bay to Silvehill, but circumstances brought us to Texas instead. We are a few miles outside of a small town 40 miles north off Houston. That is as close as we could stand to being in a city again.
Yeah, we seldom got “tranfers” from the Navy, too much like work for most ;)
